    • For one, everyone already knows the greens policies, its in the name. For two, they did touch on their policies, lower the voting age and don't do any of the shit they're satirising, and hopefully change our broken voting system. For three, like any other party puts their policies in their election broadcasts, they just say populist platitudes that aren't nearly ad funny, and i'm not even voting green!

We're asked constantly about our policies on Immigration, NHS, Brexit well you get the point, this video went no where in answering them. All we're saying here is make this a game with more than 2 teams? is that really our message? PR?

  • REAL FEEDBACK: Tell us what you actually stand for! This ad is clever in a cynical way but it's only half the battle. 1) engage the audience and empathize with how jaded they are at politics as usual 2) explain how you offer an alternative to rally people to your side. Just showing us that you're aware that politics are shit doesn't actually suggest a solution. Missed opportunity.

    @WafflePrince@WafflePrince7 жыл бұрын
    • They have even _less_ chance than the greens of winning. Their highest share of the vote in any constituency is 0.4%, and they've only ever stood in 6 of them. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libertarian_Party_(UK)#Parliamentary_elections_contested)

      @thenewtonium3521@thenewtonium35217 жыл бұрын
    • The green party will never win. People vote for them as they believe it is the morally right thing. Morally right people who are smart although, vote Libertarian as they understand basic economics. Also the green party has been around since 1990 whereas the Libertarians were founded in 2008. The green party has 18 more years to gain traction.

      @WafflePrince@WafflePrince7 жыл бұрын
    • 1) You can only vote Libertarian if you live in one of *4* constituencies. The Greens stand in almost every constituency. 2) People don't vote Green because it's 'morally right', they vote Green to put pressure on Labour and the Conservatives to focus on Green issues. It worked for UKIP - they got the referendum they wanted - and it can work for the Greens too. 3) The Greens, taking the English & Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish parties together, have one MP (who has an outright majority by the way), one member of the House of Lords, two London AMs, two NI AMs, six MSPs, three MEPs and 190 Councillors. The only representation the Libertarian Party has is a single councillor. 4) Arguably, the Green Party _do_ understand basic economics. The idea of a 'Universal Basic Income', for example, is a logical conclusion of basic economics, i.e. the principle that more consumer spending leads more economic growth. Nationalisation of natural monopolies such as rail also acknowledges the basic idea that it's _competition_ which makes free markets so effective; in the case of natural monopolies however, there _can't_ be a 'free market', therefore greater government control is required to ensure the best quality of services. Finally, the Green Party realises the basic fact that big business is bad for competition, and therefore 'trickle down' economics is inherently flawed.

      @thenewtonium3521@thenewtonium35217 жыл бұрын
    • UBI for real? So you don't understand basic economics. The Libertarian approach is a negative income tax. A much more cost effective approach which slingshots people out of poverty and prevents people lounging off a benefit like a UBI. And I completely disagree with greater government control. If you like the best quality services provided by the government I would recommend checking out the National Socialist Worker's party. They would really suit you. The larger the government the more prone it is to corruption and controlling the people. The Libertarians don't like big business. That's why they advocate for a startup business tax break to encourage new smaller businesses.

  • It's amusing and witty but not the best method to convince the public to take the Greens seriously. The Conservatives and Labour may be responsible for much of what is shown in this video but they at least don't come across as if they're not taking this election seriously.

    @JH-hf8pg@JH-hf8pg7 жыл бұрын
    • James Hemsley they don't take our election laws seriously, of course they don't take elections seriously either. it's just a game to them. We only had a referendum to settle an internal Tory feud.

      @rachelcollinson5021@rachelcollinson50217 жыл бұрын
    • Glorious_Britannia you've missed the point.

      @rachelcollinson5021@rachelcollinson50217 жыл бұрын
    • Omar Little you have merely misread what I wrote. We only had a *referendum* to settle an internal Tory dispute.

      @rachelcollinson5021@rachelcollinson50217 жыл бұрын
    • Omar Little having a referendum was green party policy. I don't think the holding of a referendum is a negative thing of itself. But it should have been three choices, not two. (in, common market only, out.) What UK citizens actually want from Brexit now is truly unclear and now we are a nation divided, at each others' throats, while the Conservative Party are all "back in line". While Theresa May isn't interested in what people actually want - she will not answer questions from the public or talk to us directly unless it's through an intermediary. Look at the way Boris Johnson has behaved, too. It shows contempt for their electors and cynical ambition. Ultimately I think the means are just as important as the end. I do not want to be ruled by a person who puts party before country, and self before party. it should all be the other way around.

      @rachelcollinson5021@rachelcollinson50217 жыл бұрын
  • i will probably vote green party but i do not agree with lower the voting age. I don't want some 16 year old deciding my future when they learnt politics from buzzfeed and facebook memes.

    @3DSgeek@3DSgeek7 жыл бұрын
    • I see your point, but an 18-19 (maybe older) year old can be pretty similar to that as well!! Besides, a fair number of 16/17 year olds are probably smarter than you and me as they have constant exposure to education and critical thinking etc!

      @shughes5920@shughes59207 жыл бұрын
    • Jacob Lee wtf are you talking about, education doesnt stop after school finishes. You learn your whole life, school is almost useless. Really in 20 years your going to look back at who you are now and realise you didn't know shit. Politicians are all old people so your youth and your opinions mean nothing, stay home on Election Day.

      @3DSgeek@3DSgeek7 жыл бұрын
    • School does stop after school finishes for MANY PEOPLE. I say that on a daily basis when I see people speeding. If only they were to refer to the D=ST physics formula then maybe they wouldn't be so silly :)

    • Id rather have progressive, tech-savvy, cosmopolitan 16 yr olds deciding my future than the obnoxious, racist old people who have inflicted Brexit and repeated Tory regimes on us all

      @MegaLotusEater@MegaLotusEater7 жыл бұрын
    • I think we should lower the voting age. It's our future, not some 50-80 year old's. It's affecting us because the majority of the people who are allowed to vote support parties who hate young people.
