"We got robbed in Vegas" The past few days are a reminder that evil doesn't sleep, no matter how happy of a moment it may be, there is always the lingering threat that someone is ready to seize that freedom. The guys unravel their thoughts and feelings from the emotional rollercoaster of highs and lows around Super Bowl week which should never have such lows attached to the experience.
Ryan Channing and Fred get together this week to chat about the Super Bowl and the events around it, as well as talk about the reality of the once unimaginable tragic moments becoming too frequent as they try to wrap their heads around the recent shooting and the loss of lives at the Kansas City Super Bowl Parade.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the loved ones of the woman who lost her life during a senseless act on Wednesday afternoon and the multiple people and young ones who were injured during the parade in Kansas City when gun shots were fired and crowds of people scrambled to safety. We applaud the Chiefs players and coaching staff who helped people to safety and the law enforcement who sprung into action to prevent further tragedy. The guys discuss the tragic and all too familiar scene of shootings and how the value of someone's life has become to easy to sacrifice when people get into situations that this result becomes the answer is not ok. Understanding how a celebratory day now is tainted by loss and fear for innocent people around the world who have to ask and think is it safe to go out in public now? Ryan says how evil doesn't sleep and people will always allow their selfishness to prevail in times it shouldn't and Fred says how we take for granted waking up and returning home everyday as the world is a different place now.
Getting into the game and the defensive battle between the 49ers and Chiefs, Channing and Fred talk about the chess match but also push back on the lack of running plays in the first half when San Fran had control to do what they do best. Ryan looks at the big picture and reality of Patrick Mahomes etching his name in history as one of the greatest athletes ever to show up in big moments and perform under pressure. Putting him on the level of Michael Jordan, Lebron James, Tom Brady, Derek Jeter, Alex Ovechkin, Floyd Mayweather...Mahomes is one of the rarities we've seen in our era of professional athletes.
Before the big game was the big week, with parties, media, events and one of the Pivot's first live shows was 3 days before the game where the guys sat down with athletes, businessmen and entertainers for shows in front of an audience discussing current topics to sports moments. But in a split moment, all of that was gone and attention turned to creating great content to losing everything as the production crew was robbed of the equipment, footage, gear and once again reality crept in as the guys talk about how letting guard down for instance became a crime of opportunity for others. Ryan, Channing and Fred give praise to the Las Vegas Police Department and the detectives who worked tirelessly around the clock to bring the guy into custody and return some of the stolen items while also using the moment to discuss how relationships with law enforcement doesn't always have to be a negative experience.
As football season comes to an end, Channing and Ryan reflect on season one of Inside The NFL while Ryan opens up on the bittersweet process of his ESPN contract being up and what's next for him whether he re-signs with the network or tests the waters on his own. Both Channing and Fred weigh in on the personal sacrifices they've watched him make to dedicate himself to his work and Ryan understands how much he's grown and is committed to continue to put the work in wherever that may be.
With the stolen footage back in The Pivot's possession...stay tuned for some unbelievable conversations releasing over the next couple weeks with shows that are some of the best and most impactful we've done as a group. Happy Friday Pivot Family, enjoy the holiday wknd, hug your loved ones and continue to be grateful every time you wake up and return home! • Ryan, Sir Let me tell you something. It's going to be sad to see you leave ESPN. But like you said in so many words. You have to do what you have to do, not just for yourself but for your family. You are not the one who's losing, but they are. To me you were one of the realest and honest men to hear & listen to. Somebody is going to pay you what you are worth. Just hang in there because God doesn't look over hard work. These last 3 years are going to make you better and stronger. Peace and much love my guy

( I do think chess & boxing have comparisons!!!). Shaddy whose played for Coach Reid said, how he know how to or when to save a play, & use it at the right time, referring to the Tom & Jerry last play!!! And how if he had used it earlier in the game, the 49ers would've known after that what the play was & what to do as defense. In boxing u wear ur opponent down!!! If u watch the mic'd up version of the game, there's a point in the game when Chris Jones is talking to the defense players. Suddenly motivating the guys as the 49ers were wearing down, Chris said to them, "That's ALL they got!!!" Meaning we've got it from here!!!!

  • Thanks for covering the shooting. I considered attending the parade, but ended up not going. My family, including my 10 yr old nephew was there. In fact, they had no idea they were in danger until it was over. They thought it was fireworks and one of the perpetrators actually bumped into them as he was running from the cops. While I'm thankful my fam is safe, my heart goes out to all the victims, especially the lady who lost her life. Continued prayers for her loved ones.

  • Being a lifetime resident and huge fan of our Chiefs, seeing this today, all of these months later, I thank you for the words. Several profound sayings in this video but the comment about it being a human heart issue, I played over at least a half of a dozen times. I have been saying since the first realistic, 1st person shooting games that they are going to desensitize people and it has. The young man who started it now admits he was stupid to pull out his gun over a look.

Funny part about it I took my kids out there to get their minds off their mom's death 3 weeks before we went to Vegas. Unfortunately we didn't get nearly as much attention or cooperation right after they stole our belongings. Obviously that's a child that regardless of your mother's death life and its calamities still exist and continue. I’ve never seen that many emergency vehicles. Absolutely terrible, fortunately the 9 children taken to Children’s Mercy are doing ok. 900 law enforcement members, snipers on the roof, and people still have the nuts to do this. I was pleasantly surprised that more fights didn’t break out as there were 1mm people in this crowd with tempers flared and people pushing nonstop for 5 hours. I truly believe KS/MO being open carry states probably helped minimize confrontation.

People’s sense of heart, respect, and just caring for others have gone away. And if that’s not taught to people when they are young then these things will keep happening. It’s a very sad world we live in. People even drive their cars through parades now killing people.

Why don't we ever mention them? Even our own men devalue other men by mentioning there were children and women there. And not mentioning the men that could have been mowed down. Men were the ones who tackled the shooters and we don't mention it once. That really bothers me. Men are just as important and deserve to be cared about and spoken about in times of danger too.

  • Too many people don't truly show up for the actual strategy if the game. Long time football fan and I was impressed by the defense of both teams.

  • I am new to your channel and I fully enjoyed this episode. The gun talk made me think of the state of large events in America - try to avoid them as much as possible. Multiply your discussion points by 1000 and that is how women have to operate on a daily basis. The discussion of the media business was so fascinating as well.

  • You guys should reach out and have Colion Noir on the podcast to speak about gun rights and gun violence. It is a conversation that I think would hold much weight with both of your platforms

    • Colion is for real. Intelligent and makes you rethink the whole gun narrative and what it's really about. Someone turned me on to him, and he lit a fire under me. Since then, I've been on it. Was at the range today. Been wanting a DD m4 v7 Pro, but dang, they expensive.

    • @quincytidwell5019 Yes he does. Met him at a gun expo at Green Top and he is the same as you see him on YT. Was looking into getting another AR incase VA pass that dumb law in July. I see CA is going to require credit card companies to code guns and ammo purchases soon. Geesh. If only people understood

  • Been watching you guys since Day 1. Since I’m a hockey fanatic, it was great to hear when you mentioned 8:08 Ovechkin and Gretzky. Do you see you guys adding another hockey player? It was cool when you had Subban on.

  • Good afternoon sir Mr. Ryan Clark, Mr. Fred Taylor, Mr. Crowder please be advised you guys are doing a great job. I appreciate your gentleman your content, your character, the style of the way you present the pivot podcast. Furthermore, Mr. Clark am my opinion you are still the best analyst on TV also in a podcast environment, you bring honesty professionalism among other things. I was deeply saddened by the announcement regarding your contract negotiations with ESPN I’m glad you stood your ground. In my opinion you were the best analyst on ESPN they knew that furthermore, when I say the best analyst, I’m talking better than your boy Stephen a Smith he’s very good also however in my opinion, you could have your own ESPN show I ended right there. Best wishes to you in the future. You have a lot of things going on you’ll be just fine as you are from one brother to another stay out God bless you, once again, you guys are doing a fabulous job
