3x Super Bowl Champ Mecole Hardman on game-winning catch from Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce leadership, Taylor Swift & why he really left the Jets mid season!
When the Kansas City Chiefs scored the winning touchdown in Super Bowl 58, all eyes were on one player who hauled in the catch for the championship.
That player was Mecole Hardman, but he has no recollection of the minutes after. The three-time Super Bowl champ sat down with Ryan, Channing and Fred to talk about the game and his career leading up to it.
Only 25 years old, Mecole has already faced his fair share of adversity while in the NFL. Whether it was a short stint with the Jets that didn’t end on the best terms or five days spent stuck in bed when he was diagnosed with osteitis pubis, Hardman has had to beat several odds.
Yet his big plays in the big games seem to make it all worth it. The Chiefs were a team surrounded by noise all season, yet Hardman talks about how Travis Kelce and Pat Mahomes were able to help pull everyone together in crucial moments.
He may be a free agent this offseason, but Hardman has already found more success since being drafted in 2019 than many players get in their careers.
With a son in his family and an empathetic perspective on life having worked with special needs children, Mecole expressed with the guys his gratitude for the positions he has been placed in.
A fumble or a drop hasn’t defined his career thus far, winning has, and Mecole Hardman has proven that he will always find a way to bounce back.
New episodes drop on Tuesdays at 12 p.m. ET and Fridays at 3:30 p.m ET on KZhead, with audio available on all streaming platforms including Apple, Spotify and Amazon.

  • Sensational interview, gotta love how transparent Mecole was here. A lot of people will think he buried the Jets & who is he to talk cause he's a role player but when you go from structure & excellence to mediocre & dysfunction... OF COURSE you're going to have something to say about it. Furthermore, this young man has incredible character to work with special needs children & understands the grace & thankfulness in being able to function through live without assistance. He's got it all together upstairs! Happy for his success! phenomenal episode fellas!

Good on Mecole and really happy for the guy to win another chip considering the way he was treated by my team. Respect

  • This interview was incredible RC, just wow. As a Chiefs fan, we weren't told too much about his injury. It was kept so vague and many were dismissing him as being weak, not wanting to play, not really hurt. etc. Thank you for allowing him this space to talk about his experiences. Raised my respect for him tremendously. I wish you all the best in your career! I know you will continue to excel!! Thanks again!!

  • Fantastic interview! Love the thoughtful vibe. Mecole's comments on the Chiefs locker room feeling like everyone is on the same page is so important. I've felt that personality is a huge factor in who the Chiefs acquire. Nearly everyone on that team is heavily teamwork-focused. You can tell they love each other and genuinely want to support each other. That has to help them go the distance.

He's right about one thing though, he never really had a chance to break out in KC behind Hill, then the moment he gets his chance he gets hurt. Happy to see him come back this year and get the plays when they mattered. Wish him nothing but luck moving forward, wouldnt mind him returning to KC again either.

  • As a Chiefs fan-- this was really cool to hear. The Chiefs are always very hush hush in terms of giving details about injuries. They keep all the details close to the vest, and dont ever give the fans or even the media covering the team, much info to work with.. i knew about a very VERY vague groin/pelvic injury. Never did i hear any of these details, and i follow the team religiously. Mecole giving all the full details about this paints a much clearer picture. Really cool to listen to this-- even though it was a rough time for him personally

  • I love how astute RC is about the emotional side of the injury. As someone who was also a gifted athlete, and whose identity was that as well, I broke my neck and was paralyzed playing football. While I had a super rare once in a lifetime recovery, you don’t ever fully recover. I was never the same and my body is and will be broken for the rest of my life. I was 14. I have suffered through depression, PTSD and still have moments where I get sad and heartbroken. So I really appreciate Ryan asking about that.
