I can see Anthony Smith having a glover like career, he'll see success later in his career and is super likeable and has that never quit attitude.
Knowing how smart Teixeira fought against Blachowicz, imma have to side with him on this fight too.

I'm from Brazil, and I have so much respect for Anthony Smith, He reminds me the old school MMA guys, the level of respect is the best you can get.
Same as Glover, Jan, Jiri, Reyes, Volkan, Santos. LHW is the most wholesome division now.
Anthony clearly hasn't watched Jiri's rizin fights. I think Jan took an easy bet on Glover due to the lack of a PPV bonus
glover was the next available guy jiri won his fight like 5 months after glover did. and jiri didnt want to fight again right away anyways.

this card was free on espn for some reason. maybe because the headliner wasnt that big. and they wanted to use it as an advertisement of sorts for the madison square garden ppv this weekened.

I must say Anthony smith and Ariel together are a powerful combo.
Not mad at it but I just think Jiri is special and it’s screamingly obvious but not proven on the highest stage (ufc title fight)

He’s got the highest potential out of everyone in the division, who else came into the ufc and killed 2 title challengers back to back in their first 2 fights?
He is special, but I'd love to see a gaethje like reinvention. He has big holes in his game that I think can be exploited. His physical gifts are extraordinary, but I'm not sure his training situation is optimal

Jan vs Rakic is more likely to happen. This guy got absolutely DOMINATED by Rakic and has the audacity to put himself over him because he beat Crute, clarke, and Spann (all lower ranked fighters)?????? Beyond delusional at this point. Smith needs to realized he was on the brink of death against Glover and got dominated by Rakic. Fight someone closer to the top 5 before you talk about fighting someone that just fought in a championship level fight. Even someone like Thiago santos deserves that fight over him.
Dominated? Rakic is a very boring point fighter, there were no 10-8s and it was a crap fight, I think this new Smith can definitely make the second fight better but like Smith himself said, rakic is just turning down fights thinking he deserves a title fight after jiri v glover. Who knows, but the rematch against rakic makes most sense, if the Jan fight happens i think it'll be a barn burner kind of fight, or at least a very brutal KO/Sub kind of fight.
He said the ufc brought it to him. So if the ufc did that, isn't there some validity in him mentioning it?
@@vietnamsemonky4082 rakic dominated him every round m8. He also agreed to fight him which he didn’t have to do considering the way their last fight went. He would get beat just as bad as the first time. Smith literally beat 3 low rank fighters and thinks he’s deserving of a contender fight. Not a single win against a top 5 opponent.

He's clearly improved even if against lesser opponents which happens all the time, fights are never the same as the first, no fight is the same, I see Smith being not aggressive, checking those leg kicks that point fighter rakic throws out and grappling him more. Rakic has no one to fight rn, he's not fighting for the title cause that's jiri next, so who should both fight next in your honest opinion?
@@vietnamsemonky4082 Rakic vs Jan, Smith vs Santos. Story to be told for each fight. Jan always claimed Rakic should be in next challenger talks and they are both Europeans, while Santos vs Smith is crowd pleasing rematch back from their MW bout
Of course he does, if he doesn't, after the beating glover put on him, it's like openly admitting that he can't beat Jiri.
Anthony's opinion is heavily colored by the memory of Glover nearly beating him to death. The desire to believe it was due to Glover's abilities and not his own failures will make a man overestimate another.

@@ProLikeMee You're not wrong in most cases. If they can explain away a loss with "I was having an off night" or "It was a lucky punch," they will jump on it. That didn't happen here; Glover beat him like a red-headed step-mule through the entire fight, so the only delusion left for Smith is to think "I'm not bad, he's obviously just the next champ."
