@UltimateBucketList yes. My parents and I have some plans to go there especially in the Vatican. We want to attend the mass
@@bellechannel They usually hold mass every day - most services are in the morning starting from 7:00am (at every hour). After the 12:00noon mass, they leave it free for tourists before the 5:00pm and 6:00pm mass, the Basilica then closes at 7:00pm. If you follow the advice in the video and attend mass in the morning, you'll escape all the crowds. 👍

I love this video. I was hoping to see more of those bodies like St Padre Pio and other former Popes who laid rest there. I write all the way from Kiribati, and wish I could see that place one day. I leave in God's hands. Your video does give me a good idea of this place. God bless and thank you so much...
Thank you. Obviously, there are many pope's buried there, but you don't have access to all of them. Maybe one day, you can come here and see this for yourself - it's a pretty cool place.

One of the most informative videos on "what to do" at the Vatican. Thank you. Can you recommend any places nearby to have lunch?

Thank you. Yes, it's pretty easy to show yourself around - you don't need a tour guide to show you these things :)
Very informative video 🤩
Thank you very much!
Two facts need to be corrected: 1. The dome of St. Peter's Basilica wasn't painted by Michelangelo, it was only designed by him, slightly altered by a later architect 2. The Belvedere Torso sculpture you showed wasn't made by Michelangelo, it's a Roman marble copy of a earlier Greek one done in the 1st century BC However, awesome pictures. Love from Sri Lanka! ❤🇱🇰
Thanks
Very good advice. Thanks
Thanks - much appreciated!
Such great tips! We went with a tour group and the situation regarding entry to the museum seems a bit confusing. St peters basilica was closed to tourists when we were there 😢- next time!!
Thanks! Yeah the same thing happened to me! They promised "skip the queue access" to St Peter's Basilica after the tour, but then made up some BS reason why it was closed (IT WASN'T!) I then had to come back later in the day to go inside the Basilica, thanks to that dishonest company I booked tickets with. Shame you had to experience that yourself, but maybe the next time you're in Rome, you'll know how to get in without any hassle 🙂
@@UltimateBucketList interesting- I didn’t really trust what they were telling us- and they had us skip the Vatican gift shop and took us to some other gift shop I was not happy about that- 😡 but I will make it back on my own terms some day in the off season! Thanks again for the great video!

You must have been in Italy the same time I was I hope you went to the Borghese museum and saw my new favorite sculpture bernini's works
I went during the 2nd week of February I think? The Borghese Museum I didn't do - I was going to come back to it, then I ran out of time.
Just a quick question. We have purchased tickets for the vatican museum and a lunch at 2PM. Is there access to the Basilica from the museum or would we have to leave the museum then wait in line outside to get into the basilica? Im wondering if it would be smarter for us to get to the square at 9am and go into the basilica first when lines may be shorter, then make our way to the museum afterwards since we already have tickets purchased. We will be there in late October. Thank you for any suggestions!
Hi, thanks for stopping by. It depends - some companies have 'skip the line' access to the Basilica, which means that once you leave the Sistine Chapel - you will walk through a separate corridor to go directly inside St Peter's Basilica without having to queue in that horrendous line outside. That said, the company I booked with had 'skip the line access' and then made excuses as to why we couldn't go into the Basilica through this corridor (I really don't recommend them!). My suggestion is for you to check with the company you booked with to see if they do this (actually do this). If not, you can either queue for the Basilica before the museum (it'll be long), or queue for the Basilica after (it'll be a little shorter late afternoon). Hope that helps?
Hey man how are you doing? As I mentioned before on the Cardiff’s video, I love your work. Pretty awesome. I have a quick question. I am going to Rome in November (it will be my fourth time in Rome), but I have never flown my drone over Rome and Vatican City. I have been flown my drone over many countries in Europe as you can see my videos. Also I have licenses to do it in Europe. Did you find easy to fly your drone over these places? Thank you very much. All the best!
Years ago, you could fly your drone over Rome and Vatican City without anyone batting an eyelid. Now most of it is a no-fly zone and there's security, Police and Carbinieri everywhere. My advice is to not bother unless you have an Italian license and prior permission. Because you will be found and they will check your paperwork. Hope that helps?

hello , thank you for this video :) would you suggest on going into the vatican museums and sistine chapel on the free sunday ?
Hi, yes if you can but I think everyone else will be doing the same. My suggestion is to go before it opens and wait for 20 minutes and be the first one in the door.
Thank you for your reply
Thankyou for the advice with purchasing a Vatican museum ticket. Does The official website translate into English from Italian as I cannot find this option 🤔
Yes it generally translates automatically to English, if not, right click your mouse and select 'Translate to English'. Hope that helps?
We will be there next Tuesday - have a private guide - that is also when you don't have to wait in line
Hmmm, technically my 'tour' included 'skip the line' tickets too. It didn't ... I still had to wait in lines. Be careful of such claims from these companies.
@@UltimateBucketList Thank you - since this is a special trip we actually did use/book a guide used and employed by our toptier travel company. The plus no matter what is us getting there at 730 am - so def early. TY!
Nice video
Thank you!
Hi! What a great video! I went on the Museum's website and tried to purchase tickets (for mid-September), but it said they were sold out. Do you know if there is anything else I can do or find a different way to do it? TIA.
Thanks very much, glad you like the video. Ah yes - there's actually a problem with that ... the Italian Government are investigating these dishonest third-party companies (like the one mentioned in the video) who use computers to buy all the available tickets from the official website. This forces you to buy a ticket and a guided tour from them at inflated prices. That would explain why they're 'sold out'. My advice to you is: either take your chances and go to the ticket office on the day OR begrudgingly pay for tickets from one of these companies. Please don't do a guided tour, they suck. Hope that helps?
@@UltimateBucketList wow, that is insane! Thank you for responding to my comment. No, I do not want a tour. I am traveling with my small toddler and my elderly father. I doubt I will have more than 1.5 hours to spend there. Thank you again.
You're welcome :) Honestly if you have a short time, I think you'll enjoy St Peter's Basilica and St Peter's Square more (both are free). It's the Vatican Museum that you need to book tickets for, and if I'm being honest, if you can get tickets at the ticket office it's just about worth it. But if your only option is to overpay through these dishonest companies, don't bother. Walk down the street and visit Castel Sant'Angelo instead. Enjoy Rome :)
❤❤❤❤ Vatican City ❤❤❤❤
Yes
Thanks for the video, I learned a lot and enjoyed watching it, but I couldn't find any ticket on the official site, all June and May tickets are sold out 😅
Glad you found this video helpful! I just checked the availability ... that's not normal. Usually there's plenty of places available. Maybe try again in a few days?
@@UltimateBucketList Yep we’ll see
Same here! I wanted to buy some tickets for mid September and they are all sold out.
@@sylvanafow1340 You need to buy your ticket one month before your entry at midnigh (Italy local time) they put the tickets at 00:00 on sale on site but they disappear quickly in a few minutes, for example if you want to go on september 10 you need to buy your ticket before august 10 at midnight. An other thing, I decided to buy my ticket on spot thinking that it may take only few minutes but I queued for two hours and a half from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in June. I advise you not to queue in the morning because everyone does it, in the afternoon I noticed that there is a very short and fast-moving queue. I hope this can help !
Very informative video. I am visiting Vatican around 15 Dec, on average what is the waiting time to get into Vatican museum and St Peter's basicila
Thank you! During December, it's usually quiet, you won't have to wait long during the day to get into the museum or basilica.
If you want to be quick, book tickets online for the Vatican Museums. If you don't, you may find a long long line along the Vatican walls.
If the website is sold out can you still buy in person for the Sistine Chapel, Vatican Museums and St Peter’s Basilica early in the morning ?
Hi - as mentioned in the video: you don't need a ticket for St Peter's Basilica, as it's free and open from 7:00am. The website is down because third-party companies keep buying tickets to sell at inflated prices, so yes - the only way to access the Vatican Museum & Sistine Chapel is to queue for tickets. The museum and Sistine chapel is open from 9:00am.
@@UltimateBucketList thanks for the prompt response! I was thinking of doing 7am St Peter’s Basilica and then go to Vatican museum for 9am. I guess the lines will already be there by 9am.
@@vladimirad I think that's wise to start out at St Peter's at 7:00am. The Dome is open from 8:00am if you want to go up there, and I think you'll time it nicely. There will be a queue yes, but it won't be as long as it is during the day.
I'm going to arrive from Florence by car, have lunch and go to the Vatican Museum. I found a ticket on the get your guide website (the official website is sold out), my question is, can I buy a ticket for 11am and enter at 12 or 1pm? Thanks!
If you've bought an 11:00am ticket and it's just an entry ticket (i.e. you're not on any guided tour), I don't see any reason why they wouldn't let you in?
What is the music you play at the 3:54 mark.....beautiful!
Hi Jonathan - it's a track called "Angelic Church Choir", if you do a quick Google search, you'll find it.
Great tip to get there early BUT can you buy tickets on site at 7am or do you need to already have secured your tickets online?
Hi Mike, thanks for your comment. The 7:00am opening is for St Peter's Basilica, which is free and you don't need a ticket for that. The dome opens at 8:00am and you can just buy a ticket at the entrance. The Vatican Museum opens at 9:00am and if you're going during high season, you will need to book a ticket way in advance because you have an entry timeslot. You can chance it at the ticket office, but you'll be lucky to get in at the time you arrive. Hope that helps?
Thank you for your informative video! Unfortunately 3 months ahead and the standard entry tickets are unavailable! Is there anywhere else that just a standard ticket can be found using a third party provider? Thank you!
You're welcome! Ah, I can explain your predicament. The Italian government are clamping down on third party companies using bots to buy the official tickets from the official websites and then selling them on at inflated prices. That explains why it's "sold out". My advice to you is to either pay on the day for the Vatican museum (but get there at opening time). Or find a company that will sell you a ticket for near-enough face value. Please do not book a guided tour, most of them are terrible. You don't need a ticket to enter St Peter's Square & St Peter's Basilica. And if you want to climb the dome, you cannot book in advance anyway - you just pay at the entrance. Hope that helps?
Your video is very informative. My trip is not until late May and the official website says not available for booking that day for the Museum. Are they all sold out or have they not been released yet?
@@amandapalmer5986 thanks very much Amanda! Most likely, they've not released them yet, but if you find that closer to the time that tickets aren't available, either pay on the day or contact them directly. The last resort is to buy a ticket from these horrible third party companies that overcharge you.

I went in February just before my birthday. June will be busy, but not as busy as July, August and September. But if you go first thing in the morning, it shouldn't be bad at all. Enjoy!
@@UltimateBucketList thanks! Just another question, should we be suspecting an influx of Italian tourists “to” Rome, or perhaps “away from” Rome during the Republic National Holiday in early June?
@@samuelc5445 It's usually towards Rome, but you'll find that it's busy anyway.

Thanks for any help
There is no time limit and you can either buy an audio guide or download one on your phone as an app for free. Hope that helps?
@@UltimateBucketList can u recommend a good app?
@@plooms1 admittedly I didn't use one whilst touring the Vatican - I think I read all the info beforehand and looked for the relevant things when I was there. There's plenty of free ones though.
I'm going to be in Vatican on Wednesday. Ugh bummer. Thank you for let us know about Basilica would be closed (does that mean , no climbing either)? At what time do they let people in? And r u sure I can get the ticket at the door? There are none on official website. And resale companies like 60$ per person
The basilica sometimes is open on Wednesday morning, it all depends where they decide to hold the Papal audience, so my advice is for you to check anyway. St Peter's basilica is free to enter, as is the Papal Audience, you shouldn't be charged for these. The only thing you'll need to pay for is if you want to go to the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel, that's it.
@Ultimate Bucket List yeah so how to get the ticket for sistine chapel? U said at the door, but everywhere online it says , it's not possible to buy tickets at the door, you have to purchase online in advance. But they been gone weeks prior to date
@@GeniaBy I know that during busy periods, they tell you to book online only (like at Buckingham Palace). This is so that they manage the amount of people coming in. If there's nothing available online, that's unfortunate for you. I would suggest that you try the ticket office anyway to see if they have one or two tickets left, but it's a long shot.
Ottimo video. BraviSSimo.
Grazie mille! 😀
Do we pay to climb the dome on site? Is there any way to save time and purchase an online ticket for the same price?
Yes, you literally pay at the entrance. There is no website booking for this, as the queues are unpredictable. That said, not many people go up there anyway due to the length of the climb, so you'll be okay just showing up. Hope that helps?
I’ve been to Louvre in Paris, so the Vatican museum is not on my wish list. Sistine chapel might give a try. But what I’m more interested is in the spiral staircase. Is it possible without purchasing ticket?
Unfortunately, it's not possible to see just the Sistine Chapel and the Spiral Staircase on its own. you have to buy the museum ticket which allows you access to those things.
@@UltimateBucketList ok thank you..
Great informative video thank you! When you got in the queue at 7 AM, did you need to have purchased a ticket before or can you queue up at 7 AM without a ticket already purchased?
Thanks very much! St Peter's Basilica is the place that's open at 7:00am and you don't need a ticket to enter. The only thing you need tickets for is the Entrance to the Dome if you want to climb up there (opens at 8:00am, you just buy it at the desk when you arrive) and the Vatican Museum (which opens at 9:00am - you can book tickets online). Hope that helps?
If you want to be there by 7am, what time does public transport start?
Don't worry, public transport usually starts from 5:30am most days. You'll have no trouble getting there for 7:00am.
Would like to see about Birmingham
I'll consider it.
Hi, I'm Japanese. Could you explain from 9:20 about how the national TV station is the fault for banning filming in the chapel? Googling in Japanese yeilded no explanations.
In short: NHK funded the renovation of the Sistine Chapel in exchange for the image rights. This means that to take any photo or video, you have to ask permission (or pay) NHK. If you do not have permission from NHK (which all tourists don't), photography and videography is not allowed.
inter milan are now doing stadium tours , just thought id mention it as another tour youtuber just went on it a month ago
They always did tours, they just closed them when I was there.
I want to go back to this holy place
One day you will!
What did the NHK do in the Sistine Chapel?
NHK offered to fund the restoration of the Sistine Chapel in exchange for image rights. So no-one can take photos and videos of the Sistine Chapel without paying NHK first.

For the on-the-fly shots, just my Samsung S22 Ultra. For the more High-Definition stuff, the Sony A7R III.

Yes, I figured that these third party companies book batch tickets in advance, so the only way you can see the Vatican museum at peak times is through these companies. I think it's shady, but the Vatican don't really do anything to stop it - which is a shame.
May I ask how much does a plane ticket cost I live in dallas and I'm trying to visit the vatican museum soon I'm confused ?how much do a room cost for 1 single person to spend one night in Vatican city and what about transportation cost
