Spin patterns - Minecraft floors (4 of 6)

Here's how to design floors with just rotational symmetry. Specifically, there are three new "blue" patterns (442, 2222, and "o") which pair nicely with the three red patterns (*442, *2222, and **).

  • Hi! I'm adding trying to A) add chill background music and B) increase the pace of my videos with "telegraphic" communication. How was this video for ya? was the music nice? distracting? annoying? too loud? too soft? Was the pace too confusing? too obvious? too fast-paced? too slow? If you don't mind sharing a comment, it helps me understand how to make enjoyable videos. So thanks :-]

    • Dont like the music, but voice volume good, and pacing as well

    • music was good; I feel like you could have spent more time introducing the 2222 pattern, I didn't understand it enough when you started going over the examples, so I had to rewatch

    • I like how the pattern with observers sets them in closed loop, you could figure out how to have a blinking floor integrating some redstone lamps or the powered rails at the last video!

  • The level of effort that goes into these videos is amazing! It’s a travesty that this channel only has 1.5k subs

  • You can actually show at least some of the other non square/rectangular grid symmetries in minecraft by making them on a diagonal staircase, because if you look directly at the corner of a cube it looks like a hexagon, allowing you to make a hexagonal/triangular grid. Obviously you can't use that to make floor patterns cause its not flat to the ground, but I think it would be rather neat if you showed the hexagonal/triangular grid ones even just in passing for completeness sake.

    • That's a great idea. It will be interesting to see if all 17 patterns are possible with the corner-of-cube technique

  • I thought that said 301k not 3.01 subs... highly underrated. Can't wait to see you blow up man!

  • Thx ur vids rly helped me make new patterns. Also is there any reason that u call some types blues or reds other than the colors u happened to use?

    @failedkirby618@failedkirby618 Жыл бұрын
    • No particular reason. The "true blues" and "reflecting reds" is just a useful memory trick. I learned it from the textbook I'm reading which is suppyling the math for this series :-] The "hybrid greans"' I thought to be a nice completion of the pattern since now we have three families of patterns, Red/Green/Blue just like a screen display where each pixel is a triplet of color values.

  • Loving your ideas. I'm curious, and maybe I misunderstood - but this is all block-dependant, no? So it isn't a coincidence that the blues behave one way, reds another, greens seemingly another, so (and I don't think this takes anything away from your work) aren't you likely almost reverse engineering the logic someone in mojang used to assign or design the look of each of these blocks?

    • The patterns can be made with most any color (and with many non terracotta blocks). I only use the red/blue/green as a memory trick
