Little Cobra Gets Sips Of Water From A Sprite Bottle During His Rescue | The Dodo
This king cobra was found trapped in a fishing net on New Year's Day near a rice paddy in East India. When the local villagers found the trapped snake, they called in snake rescuer Mirza Arif. Arif uses scissors to cut the fishing net off, but not before giving the cobra sips of water from a Sprite bottle to quench his thirst. After being freed from the net, the snake was later released near where he was found.

I like how the second he realizes he’s getting water, he forgets he’s supposed to act scary and his hood comes down
“They wouldn’t be giving me their life saving water if they’re trying to kill me, guess I’m good” Yes you are little venom buddy, you are soooo good.
I'm not an expert here, but I'm fairly certain he made it drink to keep the mouth busy with *something* - Cobras focus on movement and with the water in it's face you could see him get a good grip behind the head, because it didn't react to his hand being near it. It likely did need water, but don't think for a second the animal realized it was being "helped" lol. Notice how it spun around and tried to escape as soon as he released it's head.
@@alexhooper6625 he didn’t try to hook it or grab it until he’d fully finished swallowing the water and then it cut to his head already being pinned I don’t know how many cobras you’ve seen before but this one was extremely calm for the cercumstance (because all preditors but specifically king cobras do anything they can to avoid conflict, hence putting up the hood in the first place) and after he was released he could have easily striked at him (they are a lot faster than that) Once his head was free he didn’t even try to bite him, he just tried to crawl away

When people say they love animals, what they often really mean is “I love small fluffy animals.” But true animal lovers don’t reserve compassion only for the creatures that fit in a purse. This is an amazing example of empathy and compassion-an entire community extending the same help they’d give a wayward fawn in peril to a venomous snake, even offering the thirsty and exhausted reptile water before relocating it. Watching the frightened snake accept a drink and then relax as they continued their task was a reminder of something my grandma told me when we’d encounter a basking rattlesnake on our hikes in the desert: “They don’t wake up each day hoping they encounter a human they can bite. When they see a human come around a corner they’re just as scared as you’d be if you came face to face with a grizzly bear.” I wish everyone treated a lizard or snake that accidentally found its way into their home with the same empathy they’d show a baby squirrel. But seeing these kind people earn a gold star in nature karma made my day. I should probably admit that I’m more than a little biased as several of my pets have scales…

It's a good thing you never tried this with a rattlesnake since they're vipers, they can strike incredibly fast. Much faster than a cobra. Cobras are also the most intelligent out of all snake species so they can probably tell when someone is trying to help them and so they're not likely to bite.
@@primalgroudon2377 LOL as I said in the beginning, it was a rattlesnake, that was my side business trapping, rescuing, and releasing rattlesnakes that crawled into shipping yards and peoples homes in the summer. The rattlesnakes I worked with rarely struck out at me until completely cornered and even then they were more rattle than strike. Most snake bites occur when people step on snakes, or try to pick them up, or people see one freak out and start hitting it with a stick. This whole thing in a movie where you here a rattle then a person goes down is bullshit. Snakes that go directly at people are extremely rare. Not to mention the majority of rattle snake bites are dry bites, in other words a warning to leave them alone. No venom, most vipers can control the amount of venom they inject, the most dangerous bites occur in North America by young or juvenile rattlesnakes who have not learned to control their venom. Or people see newborns and pick them up, or step on them, they are fully equipped with fangs and venom, but no rattles have grown out yet.

Poor little guy. These guys were compassionate and came to his rescue 😊😊❤
The way snake looked at him after drinking water was something special ❤️
No…no it wasn’t.
Absolutely 🤗
I know, right? :) It's eyes said: "I still want to kill you, and I'm incapable of love, but I am not thirsty anymore"
@@brandonwilliams6221 Snakes are people too, bigot >:(
@@onyx3646 Are you a child or something? It's a wild animal. It wouldn't hesitate to kill you if it perceived you as a threat even if you saved it's life 100 times. It doesn't have the human intelligence to recognise what's a threat and what is not. There was nothing " special" about looking at that person. The main comment was probably by a child too.
Very interesting that he lower his hood (his threat display) after he got water. Still clearly scared and didn't like getting picked up by giants (understandable) but very cool. Snakes don't want to mess with humans. We are just to big. They hide, then run, then bluff, then mock strike and if all else fails bite. If you leave them alone they leave you alone.
So true, unless you accidently trip over one. 😬
@@sisteryaya24 an unfortunate side effect of hiding, sometimes the predator doesn't see you. Haha
Yep I remember that copperhead Gave a hiker a warning bite because he was too close but didn’t inject any venom in him.. The hiker was grateful after. I wouldn’t recommend anyone messing with these creatures tho
@@Outcast128 I was fascinated to learn that snakes don't always envenomate the victim of a bite. To the snake, venom is a valuable resource.
Deep respect. Thank you for helping nature, Sir
Gotta respect folks like that who make an effort to protect wildlife as well as their community.
I love how as he poured the water, the snake’s hood went down. That showed that it was more focused on the water and realized it wasn’t in danger. Same goes for when it wiggles a bit after being freed. Poor baby was just trying to get away to somewhere safe and not interested in striking at all. I’m really glad that these people were able to help!
I think maybe it was priorities. It must have ben terribly thirsty to ignore its situation and just drink.
@@xymonau2468 I do wonder if the water also help calm the snake down. After getting water it allowed the guy to snake handle it
@@whitedragoness23 I don't think so, unless it's unique to cobras. But that snake was very thirsty and would have to be to accept water from something it was terrified of. I've seen koalas and other wild animals in Australia accepting water when they had no other option, during bush fires. Generally if you approached a koala, it would rip you to shreds. I think it definitely calmed down after that, so it helped, for whatever reason. I don't want snakes in my house, but I still feel sorry for them and it was good to see it being helped and not just killed outright, as many would have done.
I just noticed that tbh. Kinda neat

Seeing the snake gulping the water was the cutest and most comforting thing 💕
Omg the gulps after he takes a sip is adorable.
Big stones on that guy. Awesome that he cares so much.
Most people hate snakes but I'm glad there is people who love them equally ❤🐍
I think most people don’t hate snakes, most are afraid of snakes.
I don't hate snakes. I just don't want them in my house.
I've love snakes since I was a little girl. I begged my mom to let me have a hog nosed snake because it puffed up like a cobra but it wasn't venomous. My mom wouldn't let me have one because she was afraid of snakes. I still love them but now I don't like the idea of caging anything. They should be free.
The look in the snake's eyes while drinking from the bottle - is heartwarming!
I know! He looked so thankful and satisfied 🥺
Only happens in India 🇮🇳😍😍😍
Yeah that was his thirsty look...Jesus! Lol...if that snake had an ounce of energy left,it would have sunk its teeth into that guys neck. (I love snakes by the way).

This guy is a genius. He carefully handled the snake and provided water.Who ever reads this comment. Plz do keep a bowl of water for stray dogs and birds, and squirrel s near your reach. And also create awareness because most provide food for dogs but don't keep water.
I could feel the relief the poor snake had getting water 🙏🏻👍🏻❤️
As a keeper of snakes myself (though not venomous ones) it’s so great to see others respecting and caring for these beautiful creatures. They get a bad rap but they deserve to live just as much as any other creature!
As a venomous keeper myself I noticed it's an Indian Cobra not a King Cobra.
@Thor yes highly venomous
