  • One thing I have learned, practicing as a boxer, is to practice "game-like" situations. For example, instead of simply running or jumping rope for cardio, see how long you can go moving around, dodging, blocking, and punching. You can do all this on your own through visualization.

    • @@jj-pm7wy Never said I didn't. I'm just not a boxer. I've watched boxing most all of my childhood into adulthood. His trainer is often times impressed with my depth of boxing knowledge and history buff I can be on the sport. I just got into martial arts (Tae Kwon Do, Muy Thai, and Wing Chun) because my father didn't want me boxing for some reason as a child. I don't step on his trainers toes, I just re-iterate or in some cases explain from another perspective. I will say, I do have the itch to just get in there with him, but my money only stretches so far these days. It would be nice to learn from a seasoned trainer and definitely get that bonding exp via this sport.

      @htxflow@htxflow Жыл бұрын
    • @@htxflow legit his fighting style is fucking risky and brave all on itself. Sure he doesn't KO people that much anymore but he broke his hands multiple times until he decided to take a break, then went on to fight heavier fighters that are younger than him so why are people still roasting him for not KOing them? Manny barely KO's people anymore for the same reason (though he never broke his hands the way Floyd did) But even Floyd's fighting style is risky itself because it utilizes body jabs, body crosses, gazelle hooks, and the pull counter. Try doing these in a hard spar against heavier fighters in their prime and see if you don't get knocked out 💀 People think just because he's going backwards means he's scared, but he purposefully puts himself in bad positions so he could try and counter your best shots so you wouldn't try to do those moves anymore That's one of the bravest and riskiest strategies ever! Floyd's timing is just unreal. You don't get that by talent, that's nonstop hard work and dedication

    • @@lilcourtny08 Morales beat Pacquiao the first time they fought. Nas loss wasn't at his peak of dominance. Records aren't always the most important. In a different era every fighters record is different. It's about style skillset blah blah blah. I was only saying that if he started his career in featherweight he might have lost to one of the big guys of that time possibly. It's all hypothetical and we'll never know anyway

  • Beginner boxer here, can someone please explain to me why 1) Floyd doesn’t step with front foot as he jabs 2) his arm is not fully extended for the jab (something I’m often corrected for). Much appreciated for your expertise

    • The first one is because a regular jab doesn’t require a step in but a power jab does (need more body weight ) and for the second one he simply just didn’t want to fully extended or the pad holder was too close to him or maybe Floyd is getting old and doesn’t want to use his elbow anymore (protecting his elbow)

      @erickcervantes7084@erickcervantes7084 Жыл бұрын
    • Nah, I think it's primarily because Floyd is a defensive boxer and a counterpuncher, so he waits for his opponent to step in before he throw his jab instead of him stepping forward to attack his opponent with a jab. So keeping his elbows bent means he doesn't hurt his elbows while jabbing when his opponent rushes in. He would only need to straighten his elbow when throwing a stiff jab at a distance, not up close. I do wonder why he jabs high and throws his hooks and cross high as well though. Who's he expecting to fight? Shaq?

      @johnlloyddy7016@johnlloyddy7016 Жыл бұрын
    • @@johnlloyddy7016 I was thinking along the same lines as you. Because he’s a defensive boxer and he never wants to get out of his defensive posture. No matter what happens, he wants to stay in a position to defend. I’m no boxing expert but I have watch a lot of Floyd’s fights, so the elbow point you make, makes total sense to me. Let’s also be honest, there’s some things Floyd can get away with because of his IQ, Skills, and ability to adjust.

    • People don't realize Floyd at 147 was not his natural weight which is why he never cut weight. Imagine if he cut weight and stayed at 135 or 140 longer. He moved up for the money. He never rehydrated like 95% of other fighters. On fight night he would be outweighed by at least 10 to even 20lbs. He couldn't fight like how he did at the lower weights.

He is not stationary and flat footed money i have a boxing question for you. Tony Jeffries of the United Kingdom, says that you should utilize the phasing in phase out method when using a job as a counter . Do you agree or use the phase in phase out phase in technique or no?
