  • The key to this workout is the last part where he counts and punches the bag straight from the chest without stopping. That session is really what this is really all about. You practice your hooks, jabs and right hands and at the end of the workout you do that exercise. The purpose is to build stamina so that your arms won't tire from holding them up for 12 rounds in a real fight. Generally, when you're boxing and training, you shadow box for about ten rounds resting only for one minute and shadow boxing for three minutes. After that you hit the heavy bag and practice all your punches and then you do the last exercise for usually a minute without stopping or dropping your hands. After that, you may or may not hit the speed bag or you may jump rope. After that, you might spar some of your stable mates (some bigger and some smaller than you). Generally, that's how it works when you're a fighter training for a fight.

    • Yes. It’s basically MENTAL WORK and MENTAL CONDITIONING. This is just as important it not even more important than physical work/conditioning in the gym - the conscientious, self-aware, self-expressive MENTAL aspect being paired with every physical activity. This union of the mental and the physical (which together becomes almost spiritual) is what is lost on most fighters and it’s the ever-elusive key to true performative greatness

      @kirklandau2826@kirklandau28263 жыл бұрын
    • Visualization is a big part, but there also an intellectual and creative aspect too... what Floyd is here is literally deconstructing and reconstructing the fundamentals of boxing before our very eyes. You can see at first like a scientist he hones in with the utmost precision on certain techniques in *pure isolation* - the distilled essence of the technique in of itself, and the level of nuance and purpose and strategic intention involved. Everything is done in a highly aware and conscientious manner. This is the deconstruction. At the same time on another level we see he simultaneously begins *reconstruction* - this is where he exercises *creativity itself* as if it were a muscle, combining the various isolated techniques together in new and unique ways, thus forming a general style, and perhaps specific to the opponent, also a master gameplan. But above all is the style, which is fluid and adaptable and dynamic and versatile - a virtuoso and artistic expression of himself in the way he combines it together... there’s style/flair, there’s rhythm, there’s feeling, there’s trickery, there magic, there’s intelligence, and there’s soul. Floyd works his hardest MENTALLY, so that he’s never just going through the motions... that instead everything is purposeful and special and meaningful on a different level, and that’s why his training is so different than that of the typical fighter. A lot of boxers get lost in the rote monotony of it all, they focus on the physical at the expense of the mental and the spiritual, they are blind and lost basically, lacking self-awareness and the higher order of consciousness that is necessary to do great and legendary deeds

    • @@3kbaby823 Don't be salty. I think people really misunderstand Floyd and his biggest strength. Floyd's biggest strength is not physical it is mental. @ 23 seconds in this video Floyd affirms to himself, "Ain't nothing I can't do, Ain't nothing I can't do, I can accomplish anything." A lot of people will misconstrue that as, arrogance, or cockiness. It is neither, it's affirmation, it's self motivation, it's manifestation of the greater Floyd. We normal folks walk around with anger, fear, depression and angst in our bodies because we think our limits hold us back. Floyd self affirms OUT LOUD (very important), Floyd SPEAKS his greatness into existence, he wills it. This is extremely important, Ali did the SAME thing. You can't be a master at something by just speaking it into existence though, you have to work hard too. I can almost guarantee you Hailey that if you work extremely hard at anything and put the equal work in, you'd accomplish whatever goal that is. You have to at least respect that aspect of Floyd, yes he is flashy, yes he is brash, yes he is braggadocio, but he comes from NOTHING, he comes from poverty, from street life, but he spoke and worked his greatness into existence, that is worthy of respect.

    • I agree when people say this but I think Floyd is severely lacking in the offensive aspect of his game. And some other intangibles that other greats like Pac-Man, Duran etc have in spades. I believe Floyd is just a bit to over defensive at the expense of his offense. If he was more balanced with that, he’d be hit a bit more sure but he’d possibly get a finish or more of truly beating his opponent as opposed to winning the match against his opponent. Floyd is absolutely amAZing in every aspect but I think he chooses to be that one sided and chooses not to show his full offensive capabilities.. for whatever reason .. maybe he is “scared” to risk the 0 or maybe it’s a brain damage thing cuz he used to be a killer at the low weights when he was pretty boy Floyd not momey

Fights like Hatton and Manny should have happened, in some instances, a decade earlier than they did and by the time we got them the other fighters weren't even elite, let alone at their peaks. Floyde Mayweather Jr. has a legitimate claim to being the best boxer of all time and he was, without any question what-so-ever, the greatest defensive boxer ever. But he's also a coward. A champion who hid from opponents until they weren't a threat to him anymore. Number ali was a heavyweight and theres no other weights above him so floyd coming from a smaller weight who is going to go up in weight in itself will fight more champions 2. When ali faught there wont 6/7belts like they are today so makes it another reason why floyd would of fought nore champions.
