It’s generally a good idea to care about other people’s opinions to some degree, as they could contain some worthwhile insight. But focusing on them too much to the point that we spend hours and hours dwelling on what people might think can leave us in agony. It’s not only potentially harmful but also unnecessary. This video explains why based on several concepts from psychology and philosophy. Hence, 7 reasons not to worry about what others think.

In the current time, society are too broken and the tecnology and social media had isolated great amounts of people, and many of them are still trying to get aproval for complete strangers. Many people are alone enough they have nothing to prove to anybody, but they still trying to.

  • "What a waste of energy to spend this short and vulnerable existence wondering what other people think" I felt that

    @user2653@user26532 жыл бұрын
    • Agreed, applied to the global populace. But experience proves that energy is gained FROM people, not from your own existence but from it interacting with others. This statement is like a beautiful oxymoron, valuable when needed, but toxic when overused, like everything else. Some people want to be Nietzsche, yet forget he died a somewhat dark death. Kind of a silly trade honestly, people like this set the foundation for us to do better, not the same. I noticed the past few years people becoming, almost addicted to influence of past minds. I’m sure they wouldn’t want that, they’d want us to combine their “new” views at the time with the new of today and the facts of the past before either. Really rational in my opinion. Most Psych majors I have met in my life are very bland and don’t seem to enjoy reality, according to their own words at times. This baffles me, they say the more intelligent you become the more sad you can be, but at the end of the day it is your choice. None of this applies to anyone that do not wish it to. Peace to all and strength through hard times, be stoic, yet be uncontrollably maniacally joyful in the moment.🙏🏽

I try to separate my personal life from my social life and only include the two in a vesica piscis. That keeps being a dick to a minimal and with least backlash. 🤣

      @clr977@clr9772 жыл бұрын
    • @@clr977 Well, look at it this way. You can't control how others perceive you unless you're actually behaving like a dick to their face. Second, you don't owe anything to anyone just like the world does not owe you anything. So just stay on your own path and forget everybody else. What you choose to do with your life is none of your buisness. The only thing that matters is what YOU want to do, not what everybody else is doing. Because if you get influenced too much by what everybody else is doing, you're going to find yourself in a maze you can't get out of. You'll lose a sense of who you truly are and what truly matters to you. You know this to be true if you look deep within yourself. You don't want to do what everybody else is doing and you don't want to be a steretotypical man. You have something deeper inside you that you want to show the world. And only those with great courage and fearlessness do just that. When you act with love and abudance in life, you always win no matter what. How you want to be remembered in life is your choice, and your choice only. Make your legacy worthwhile because you only get one chance.

While I've been dealing with stuff like this my whole life (like practically everyone), and I've been successful & being true to myself, I've felt myself faltering in my resolve which has made me a tad depressed the past few days. Feels like everything around you is trying to change you in some way. Sometimes the urge to just fit in is so great because being part of the collective is easier than standing alone. However when you realize that those in the collective will never truly accept you because of who you really are you begin to realize how alone you really are. That's something I'm trying to come to terms with. Sorry for the incoherent rant. Needed to get it out of my system.

After I realized that I literally spend zero time worrying about this. Thoughts about others will arise, observe them and move on that's all you can do. I do not need other people's approval of what I'm doing in life. My feeling to this is whenever you seek out approval from others /strangers on these types of platforms it weakens you as a person and your beliefs in not believing in yourself and feeling the fulfillment that you need from only self. You are adequate in how you feel and not needing others to be on board with you to feel complete or correct.

I struggle with doing simple/repetitive tasks too slowly, being disorganized, being late, etc. It usually results in a lot of negative or venomous feedback. But they have none, I was never in the server for approval from my peers, just to play videogames with like-minded people and I never even reached out to do that because it was a bother to begin with. They would only play 2K and CoD and chat was nothing but complaining about them whenever they weren't playing. I dont play bad games, I despise them entirely, so much so that I've deemed good games bad too soon and never picked them up again because I dont wanna waste my time. but DBZK is not a trash game. is it amazing? no. but its a great introduction to the anime and adds clarity to a very long and messy story. • Thank you for this. I won’t cheat myself out of fully living by worrying about what others think anymore. Love yourself.. speak your truth.. and the rest will fall into place.

  • I have dealt with different forms of judgements and prejudices throughout my life up to this day. I am now in the latter half of my life and single. I pursue what enriches my soul regardless of what others think. I completely agree with Nietche's philosophy of the master and servant dichotomy. I have transcended that dynamic since childhood. There is a small part of me that is uncomfortable, sad, and lonely about that, but there is a much greater part of me that is strong, happy, and free because of that.

    • Thank you for sharing this as it resonates to a degree. Being yourself without making others uncomfortable is possible, albeit within the space that modern society allows.

  • I appreciate your video. it helped me regain my confidence as someone who is occasionally insecure. I am a non native speaker of English and trying to do an English degree with foundation year in the UK is embarrassing (or should I say planning to do one, currently in hs). But if you love something you should strive for it regardless of what others think.

  • It's so empowering to hear that we can't control what's not in our limits we can only control our emotions and decide how we perceive and react on things.. The only place where you should give your attention is not outside you but inside you that only can serve you to the heights...

  • As I will graduate in a few days from highschool, I decided to do maths afterwards. I felt so stressed about my math exam bc I thought 'I need to do very well or they will all think I'm a failure' But at the same time I knew it was screwed up to think like that bc what I thinnk about myself is more important. This video proved it to me once again and I am less stressed about my grades atm ^^ Thank you!
