No. Wrong. There are MANY SMALL ONES that you missed, and that may not survive that far away from the tidal surf. The CORRECT way is to hold the rake under water and shake out the sand till only shells are left. The nice mole crabs are easy to see. The SMALL ONES are returned in the proper area. No need to bring way out of the water up on the beach. It is actually EASIER to do it the correct way. Try it

These were definitely sand fleas but pretty much max size. Mole crabs don’t stay on hook nearly as well either. Female sand fleas are often larger in my understanding and multiple small males will cling to them at times.
@@KayakDIY these are the biggest sandcrabs you've ever found? you honestly need to learn where and how to dig for them with your hands and you will find sandcrabs 3x bigger than these guaranteed.
They are sand fleas lol
I did see one video where they rinsed the rake or box and it just left sand fleas. What do you catch with them?
Normally can do that but shell substrate there was large and didn’t sift out very well. We catch redfish, pompano, and sheepshead.
@@KayakDIY love that tight lines. Do you est your fish aswell
If you need more, ill ask my dog for his secret stash of fleas 😂
Shaking in the water is more efficient and u keep the bigger ones for fishing
Look for an arrowhead or V shape in sand too when the tide/wave goes back out, just reach in sand and grab em.
Imagine swimming, and these coming out of your pants
It happens a lot at some beaches lmao
Where do you get one of them rakes
Thanks for explaining the obvious
Let the ocean rinse out as much sand and shells out of the basket before you pull it out. I've gone out many times catching sand fleas for my college class and for fun with my friends. It saves you the time having to pick them out individually. You will have mostly just sand fleas in the basket that way
Do you have a video of how you bait them on fishing rod
i’ve seen a tool like this before in a similar video only he pulled out around 100 all moving around, it was horrifying and it was actually how i learned these existed
I remember back in the day the beach line was covered in them they're not like they used to be
Good way to find shark teeth as well
LMAO. He legit palmed 2 sand fleas the WHOLE TIME HE WAS “RAKING” and then when he dumped the load on the beach “pretended” to pick up the sand fleas that had been in his palm the WHOLE TIME. *bruh*🤭
That is what i saw a fake lol 😆 😂 🤣
You can just find them without a tool lol, just use your hands... You will see a little "V" in the sand as the water pulls away, you will most likely see a whole patch the V's. Then just scoop them up!
Are they edible like shrimp?
To catch sand fleas… put one in your hand then place it in a pile of sand. Works every time
Where do you catch the live ones to do this. Taking notes? I can’t buy live ones…they are frozen only? Does that mean I have to catch them first? 😉 Bro I caught one in previous scoop. I had no bucket. Please keep this up though. All you Karens make video more viral. Bad press is good press. I will take it.
Good for finds sharks teeth too.🤘
Is that including the ones you had hidden in your hand? Pretty sad slight of hand
They are sand crqbs not sand fleas. Sand fleas are little bugs that are in the sand that bite you.
Tell that to bait shops everywhere across Florida. They are indeed called sand fleas with all due respect. What you are referring to might have same name, but it doesn’t negate the fact that these are called sand fleas.
@@KayakDIY these are sand crabs
@@cjsopinion no lol, these are sand fleas
@@cjsopinion no they aren't
The look so adorable
I. always. wonder. what. a. sandflea. was. ? I. go. to. the. beach. and. spread. a. sheet. out. and. sat. on. it. Something. always. bite. me. I. don't. like. the. beach. Do. they. bite. when. you. pick. them. up. ? Inquiring mind want to know?
Tip : to get more don’t use it one grinder rocks like how he did take up the sand that’s being touched or covered on water
You'll catch a bit more with less hassle if you rake the sand and not the gravel/shell bits that accumulate. The sand should be fine enough to run out of the rake
I have one of these doesn’t work too wel though
Wait for the water to come up and then go back down, look for patches of strange ripples after the water goes down. If you dig then you will get 20 to 30 maybe
do they wiggle around in the butt or do they suffocate, or actually i mean to ask how long can they wiggle in your butt for maximum stimulation before they die and you gotta get more? Orrrr actuallly how much should you already have on hand? orr bettter yet can you resuscitate them? asking for a friend
Ask your mom she is an expert from what I hear.
@@KayakDIY the early 2000s called.
No. Try it
No
It’s actually easy to get them I do it with my own hands
Do people eat them?
So instead of softening thru with your ur hands use the thing you scooped them up with and just rinse al the sand out
Rinse that shot in the water bro. Easier than hand sifting fleas from sand. XD
5 year olds at the beach watching this man: “Pathetic”
“No honey I can’t take your pants o-“ 💀😂
Life with 3yr old. LMAO. We were at that beach picking shells. Then I remembered rake in boat. Terrible place to rake sand fleas. Also had no bucket. Had one in my hand and only found 1-3 per rake. However in 1-2mins had enough for whole day fishing so it works. Just terrible demo of how to use rake. Couldn’t sift out substrate. Also had no one to film so trying to do it one handed. Lots of haters, but I love haters…they are the best fans honestly and engage a lot more. That is why video is viral.
@@KayakDIY well... unsure what the rest of your reply had to do with my comment. But good for you :D
@@thoughtsengineer haha. It didn’t. My reply is almost the same for many. So used to the haters critiquing the video. 😂
@@KayakDIY yeah I was so confused lol I wasn’t hating just quoting that random thing that made me laugh lol
is that what eats us when we drown and get washed out?
Those are called sand crabs my brotha. Decapod crustaceans Aka mole crab. When young, they give the appearance of being a “flea”.
First of all sand fleas don't sit by where all the shells that are crushed are at they sit higher up on the beach that are just saying so they're able to dig through it it was a nice presentation but you didn't completely wrong because Sam freeze don't sit that deep in the water even though it's a couple inches deep it's not where they sit
Or you can look for bubbles in the sand when the water gets pulled back out
What are you trying to catch minnows with that
Great job making a mess on the shore
They look delicious.
People eat these?
Maybe try it in the sand and sifting it in the water. Work smarter not harder. Geeez
here in my country Indonesia those things called undur undur
Rinse it in the surf don’t dump it they bury in the sand. Probably had 5-10 but they dug in before you found them lol
The beach I go too has huge ones
You can fry those up and they're not to bad..
You’ll end up with 100 more of you just dig in the sand further back lol
Or you can just use the water to help sift the unwanted stuff. By dumping it on the beach you're probably losing dozens.
