  • Thank you so much for the info. I have luck using sand fleas, however I believe I have been making a mistake by using a circle hook, I see you are using more of a "octopus" style hook. I want to increase my hook ups. Seems the fish are hitting the eggs, and missing the hook, in my situation. Thanks again.

  • The way I was taught to hook a sand flea was actually the opposite, instead of coming out of the shell, go through the shell first, exposing the hook point where the eggs are carried, the reason for it, is because a lot of fish will pick the eggs and leave the shell so that way you have more of chance to hook the fish. But I enjoyed your video, headed to Melbourne/sebastian tomorrow and I'm going to give your techniques a try. Thanks for the tips, can't wait to get my hands on some fish gum!

  • Maybe you were just using those hooks for reference, but it would have been a good idea to mention that your hooks should always be sized according to your bait (and or targeted species), your hook point should always be exposed, and the gap between the hook point and the shank should not be so full of bait for a better hook set.
