He doesn't even need to wear flashy clothes to be sexy. Just pure rock n roll. His guitar speaks for himself. Been a big fan of Mark since I was in college. Now I'm 62. Long live rock n roll, dude!
This project was released shortly after Hurricane Katrina visited my house. My life was in disarray. I was already a huge fan of both MK and Emmylou but wasn’t aware they had collaborated. My daughter Ashley gave me the CD and DVD right when I needed it. I still listen to it every week, and watch it every month. It’s among my most treasured possessions, I felt privileged to own it. Now the world can enjoy it on KZhead.

That’s one of my absolute favorite songs. There have been a lot of great covers of that song as well. The Indigo Girls covered it on one their early albums. I saw them live in June 2023 and the highlight of that show for me was Amy Ray singing Romeo and Juliet on stage by herself with just a guitar and her voice.
I know what you mean. For me this is Brother's in arm's.... Unfortunately it is more relevant today than it was when it was released
I saw it life in Frankfurt in 2006. What a fantastic concert and a perfect match of incredible musicians. I still feel blessed that I had the chance to see it life. And of course waiting for this release now. Thank you so much Mark Knopfler!

Mr. Knopfler, I haven't had the chance to hear you live in this life, I guess I won't. But I am very lucky to be contemporary with you in this period of the universe. I listened to you at university, I got married, I listened to you, my 20-year-old son also listens to you and now he is going to university. How amazing you are…artists live forever with their works. You are a great example of this and we are the lucky generation. Thank you, may your life be long and healthy.
That's my story, too. He's been the soundtrack to almost all my life and loves since I was 18
I remember driving through a blizzard from Aviemore to get to the Brothers in Arms concert in Edinburgh, late December 1985. We had to stop and put chains on the car tyres. It was so very much worth the effort. I have loved Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler from the Sultans of Swing beginning. And the music is still my daily life listening. It makes me tearful just writing this. Thank you, Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits, for an adulthood of exemplary music.
Saw him live and I tell you.... it's such a pleasure.

These two greats combine to give one of the best collections of songs anywhere. The live album is even better than the brilliant studio one. EmmyLou singing Red Dirt Girl is sublime. The melancholy in her voice nails this superb song. I could probably say that about everything she sings. Knopfler is just a pure master of his trade. One of the musical geniuses of our time. The whole album is listenable to on repeat. I got the CD/DVD ages ago, but I hope others may now discover this gem also.... 😎
I'm listening to Dire Straits and Mr Knopfler since the late 1970s... Sultans of swing, Walk of Life, Heavy Metal et al. All songs are evergreen. I listen to Walk of Life for mood booster whenever I suffer blue swings. It's a pity many Indians are yet to discover and understand this gem of a band. Mr Knopfler has outlasted audio playback technology evolution from Vinyl albums, cassette tapes, CDs, Pen Drives, and now KZhead via Bluetooth speaker!
That guitar solo with Mark and Richard in “I dug up a diamond” is the most beautiful thing in music ever..

Who knows how many dual (or more) guitar leads I've heard...a bunch, and some of them stupendously talented duos (Duane Allman and Eric Clapton!) (Duane & Dickey Betts!) (Santana & Neal Schon!) and many more, at the peak of their powers. But this is up there with any...so, so gorgeous, beautiful phrasing, tone, interplay...just sublime. "Musical masters" indeed (that's the truth!) No matter what I say though...it fails to express how much I love it ;-) And then that one's done, and you wish it wasn't...but then it's on to the next masterpiece, gorgeously played and sung. What a great, great performance of terrific songs by a superb ensemble...

Emmylou Harris has the voice of an angel, the beauty of a Goddess, and man is she talented! Songwriter, singer, and guitar player. What a performer! And what can I say about Mark Knopfler? A guitar genius with a sensational repertoire. I know this is from almost 20 years ago, but it was one of the great concerts of our times. I wish I had been able to see one of the performances in person. Great video of a great band of musicians. Thanks for posting.

My dad had great taste in music, a top notch stereo and a huge record collection and I have fond memories of him playing "Pieces of the Sky" and "Making Movies" in the 70s when I was a kid. He died of Agent Orange related lymphoma in 1995. I'm watching this for the first time right now and just knowing he would have loved this show.
I had a friend, a percussionist, who died of the same.

Speedway at Nazareth , the drummer is killing it! 🔥I had to double check that there is just one drummer. Stunning crescendo of 🥁and 🎸01:11:22 I can listen to that over and over (and then some more).

I saw the Zurich concert. Absolutely fantastic! I love the freedom Richard Bennett is given to play in this concert. It’s one of the highlights of this concert. It emphasizes Mark’s generosity! ❤❤❤

I haven't heard many of these tracks, but when the talents of Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris come together I think they could sing a phone book and it would be a mellow, pleasing relaxing experience. They sing with soul and play guitar expertly. And the band deserves a mention for being so damn good in the background.

Yes, a beautiful concert and steeped in American folk/country music - some of the key influences that have shaped Mark's music and guitar playing across half a century. The only things I'm missing here are that they might have included a few tracks from the first two Dire Straits albums, with their jazz/country infuenced playing and soulful solos, songs like "In the Gallery", "Once Upon a Time in the West" (edit: West, not Wurst!) 😄 and "Single-Handed Sailor" would have fit in seamlessly here - and also, I would have loved if Emmylou had been given a newly written verse or two to make her a part of the glowing rendition of "Romeo and Juliet". But those are just minor points (and the early Straits can be seen/heard live in two outstanding German recordings from 1979: the Rockpalast show (live on TV) from Essen and the Cologne live album. Both of them here on KZhead.)🎸

Bought the DVD as soon as this concert came out. I am 34 years old now and have been listening to Mark and the band for more than half of my life. All possible memories and emotions are connected to his songs. Anger, passion, sadness, love, hate and joy. Each one of his songs is like a key that opens one of these treasures full of memories and emotion. This concert opens many. Thank you for uploading and sharing this beauty with the world. The world needs to sit still and listen. I can not wait for the new album. More keys for around the chain. Mark I wish you strength and God bless for many more years. Thank you for your work.
