  • Am I watching a Discovery channel? Man, you're a great narrator, you can combine your photography/videography with a story, not only that, you also give us all the information about your photos/videos. You could make people stick with your video until it finished. I'm thinking you could sell your video to a TV channel for 20-30 minutes duration. Great job.

    • Mainly during the coldest time of the year at the lock and dams along the Mississippi 17 through 12 where the open water is at. Lock and Dam 14 is the best for photographers and offers the best light at the end of the day and the Eagles come in really close and roost in the trees around the parking lot. I don't have the exact numbers at hand but there were eagle counts as high as 200 at one of the lock and dam locations. I think it was at 16 or 17 last winter. I counted over 100 at LD 15 last season. Also here in my home town about 30 miles east of the Mississippi we get some good numbers near the two dams we have here on the Rock River. Here's a link to an image I captured at 14 last winter. scontent-ort2-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t31.0-8/26171424_1959671397631474_1336701564636382025_o.jpg?_nc_cat=0&oh=80f82c8d2191bbba31452ac189049aab&oe=5BCB3F34

I makes us all understand the wildlife better so when we go out an shoot on our own we have a better idea of what to expect. This definitely will help us get better shots. Thank you.

  • A while ago I was searching high and low for a beautiful picture of an eagle on full frontal view with wigs spread out and claws stretched out. I Googled searched for hours and found not a single one I could use. Eventually I gave up without success. Then just now I stumbled on this video in my recommended and, Boy, what a find....so many absolutely spectacular photos of so many Bald Eagles in perfect pose. The shape of the wings and all the feather arrangements so perfectly exposed. It would have been ideal for the purpose I needed it for.....! Still, absolutely fabulous video. Thanks for sharing. You are so privileged to experience this first hand in close proximity in nature. I envy you!

  • Once I started watching the eagle live cams I discovered how wonderful birds are. Now I watch the condor chick, the ospreys, the red tailed hawks, the loons, the hawks and the falcons...Now I watch the brown bears live cam...wish I could have gotten into this field of working with birds and animals but I ended up only as a Mother....Today I live alone with my Australian Shepherd and wish I could go back and change my life. I use a simple Canon digital camera and with it, I've captured a lot of good pictures. Keep up your photography. When someone says you have a bird brain, it's an honor because birds are very intelligent and have emotional lives. So it is with all species I think. I love animals so much I changed my diet and eat only vegan and organic now.

  • Now that was a super video. I am partial to the American Bald Eagle. I became fascinated with them when watching an eagle couple on video in Florida, Harriet and M and their little E9 eaglet. E9 made the news when he fell out of his nest and survived. From that time on I have watched any eagle video I can find. They are fascinating creatures. About a mile down the road from me is an area with lots of ponds and lakes and it is jam packed with bald eagles. Thank you Mr. Smith for a job well done .

  • W O W Can you PLEASE add an hdmi recorder so you can be capturing what your camera sees the whole time.. I made a little cold shoe rig for mine. I use the Cloner Alliance Flint LXT (weighs 1.2 ounces) and records to an old motorola smartphone of mine from a couple of upgrades ago. The plus is you ALSO end up with a monitor, as the phone displays the hdmi feed it is capturing. Costs around $100 This way we could both video clips AND the high res photos you took
