Primary point of contact is shoulder to the head, then exploding in an upward direction. • I do think this is a slightly misleading take. The elbow was tucked, contact was made with a tucked shoulder at high velocity. Defender does need to keep himself in a position not to be clobbered. I argue that the hit was so big that Rempes arm hit van Riemsdyks shoulder, then rempe's shoulder hit head because of the momentum. There was head contact but I don't see it as principal or intended. He just wanted to throw the body and he did so. Also the exploding outward is not applicable in this regard. Exploding outward after a hit is acceptable, exploding outward to make the hit is not acceptable. There will be a career ended by this man. But in the meantime I enjoy a powerhouse of a hit.

      @kriticalityTRP@kriticalityTRP11 күн бұрын
    • Yeah you're not getting it. He did not raise his elbows, he went for the body. That's the first thing. The second thing is that van Riemsdyk put himself in a vulnerable position. Read rule 48.1, both of those things are reasons the hit can be considered legal. These are just big hits that are a part of playoff hockey, they are seen all the time but again this just has to do with his reputation. Saying he "targets the heads of players" is so insanely wrong, he goes for the body and since he's big sometimes there can be head contact. Doesn't matter since he is going for the body, if the player puts themselves in a bad position that's their fault.

    • So exhausting all of these people who just don’t understand what an elbow is, what a late hit is, or what a headshot is. A. There is a timeframe, after getting rid of the puck, when a player is still eligible to be hit. I’d say this one was borderline but not egregiously late and in the playoffs especially is fine. B. His arm was tucked at the time of the hit. And extending arm after contact is normal and is not an elbow anyway shape or form. C. Shocker, a players head can be contacted as long as it’s not the soul or principle point of contact. Both Rempe’s and Panarin’s hits were not. Through the body, even if head contact was part of that.

  • I’ve seen a lot of people excusing Ovi’s lack of effort because “he’s trying not to get hurt so he can break the goals record” and “he’s already got his cup” and there’s just no way that’s true. And if it somehow is true, then that’s absolutely pathetic for a captain of a team when your teammates don’t know when they’ll get another chance to compete for the Stanley Cup.

  • I'm trying out for a team rn and took a slapshot in warmup to the mask (goalie). I don't know if I have a concussion, but if I do this is probably the worst thing that could have happened. This is my only chance, and now I'm feeling a little off after that puck (played bad in the scrimmage after too, like a deer in headlights). Eck, what do I do?

    @justsomegoalie@justsomegoalie11 күн бұрын
    • See a doctor who can diagnose if you have a concussion or not. No tryout to start the season on any team is worth the potential long term damage if you did get one, and if you didn't it will put your mind at ease and allow you to play your best

He no longer gets the benefit of the doubt. He hasn’t for a very long time. It was like Matt Cooke… I loved the guy in Vancouver. Early on he played a hard, nasty game. Then it became dirty as fuck. If this was Panarin’s game, then, yeah, be mad as hell.

  • I'm thinking Vegas vs Florida again in the final. Obvious pick, I know. As a NJD fan I watched my team struggle with the "how to win" learning curve this year. For example, they often beat good teams and lost to bad teams. They have a long road. Vegas and Florida are veteran teams, built for this, and they have figured out what it takes.

    • Chytil has been out for 6 months. Personally, I don’t think he plays unless Wennberg is more injured than is told. Brodz may even start before Chytil. I think Lav pulls the leash back on Rempe some more and tells him to avoid most big hits. His presence on the ice alone as a skater is enough to tilt the ice. The team has only won with him in the lineup.

  • On the MSG feed you could hear someone yelling at TVR, you know Rempe is out there, he dumped the puck and was looking at his skates. All things you are taught not to do, he had speed to get around the net and the check wouldve missed or Rempe's big goofy ass would've lost his edge. The refs in the series have been terrible. Soft calls on both sides and missed calls on both sides, obviously they'll target the Rangers more because they have more physical players but 2nd round better not be like this

  • I'm not sure if I'd call that a penalty or not. It was a big hit by Rempe, but he didn't really jump, and the principle point of contact wasn't the head. Honestly, his lower body hit Van Riemsdyk in the lower body first and he started to fall backwards. Rempe slammed into the glass, and didn't hit Van Riemsdyk in the head or even the upper body for the most part.
