This was an all time NHL Playoffs choke

We just witnessed an NHL Playoffs collapse of epic proportions! You may remember earlier this season, I made a video on the Nashville Predators losing a game they were up 2-1 in with 15 seconds remaining. Somehow the Predators found a way to end up losing that game in regulation 3-2 to the Dallas Stars. That was one of the craziest chokes I had ever seen. Today though, may have topped. On the biggest stage that is the NHL Playoffs, the predators just threw away a game. See, coming into this game not only was the Vancouver Canucks starting goalie Thatcher Demko out due to injury, prior to puck drop it was announced that their backup Casey DeSmith, who had only played 2 games himself, was now ALSO injured. Vancouver was down to their 3rd string goalie, Artur Shilovs on the road, in Nashville in one of the toughest barns in the league. The Predators were dominant and played what was likely their best game of the series gaining a 3-1 lead with under 10 to go. With the Canucks down bad late in this game, it looked all but over with Sissons putting the puck towards the empty net. Quinn Hughes thought it was over, the Preds bench thought it was over and yet, it hit the post! This was one the Predators will lose sleep on for a while... I cover it all in todays NHL hockey video!

More often than not this season the lucky bounces have gone their way. How does that saying go? “You need to be lucky to be good and good to be lucky!” Perhaps there’s an inkling of truth in that.

Foot lifted off the ice to put the puck in. They've got to kick it in. The angle redirects are almost always let go. Canucks won....all's good. Don't be homers.

  • Someone else pointed it out to me, but there's no coach's challenge allowed for a kick in(refs call stands). But give the Canucks some credit for not giving up after getting spanked. They didn't play their best, but was able to keep the press on to the end and won the momentum to snatch it. You feel bad for them(and I've been a Canucks fan since the late 90s), but these things do occasionally happen to teams that deserve better(just as the Canucks deserve to not have both goalies be out after 3 games and the series to be more of a best on best matchup). That said, hard work or not, the Canucks got real lucky when they needed it(old saying goes though, you need to put yourself into position to capitalize on luck when you get it), and they managed to do just that. Preds are not out if they keep playing like they did for 50+ minutes today for a series, but they can't let themselves count the Canucks out either. They're showing they've got enough will to bite back and bite hard if you let them have a shot. Looking forward to the adjustments(and hopefully see DeSmith return, and maybe stay in the post season long enough to see Demko return as well.

What a finish, this is what i like to see in the playoffs. The hardest win is the fourth so we will see if the canucks can carry this energy with them home and finish them off. Preds will coming after them. they will not take it lying down so the canucks need to keep applying the pressure
