  • Dear Debbie, I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate and enjoy you and your videos. I've been following you on KZhead for the past two years now and this is the first time I've written you a comment, so please bare with me... Up until now there hasn't been one bad or boring video by you (I'm not just saying that) 🙂. Kidding aside I was honestly blown away with most of them. Your attitude and passion towards skiing as a sport in general and all of it's aspects is simply fenomenal. There are a lot of ex World cup skiers and Olympians out there but none have this kind of content with such thural and unselfish approach. I've been skiing for most of my life (I started from age 1) I'm 39 years old. Skiing is my greatest passion in life so I've been reading a lot about the equipment, technique, apparel, listening to podcasts and watching videos especially for the past 7-8 years now... But I have to say that you're content is without a doubt the best and the most open, honest and useful of all 👏👏👏 👌 so thank you very much for that. I'm thinking of changing professions to start this winter as a ski instructor (I have the certification) and I'm using your material as guidance. If you have some advice on which material for ski instructors I should read or watch I would be really thankful. Sorry I was too extensive and thank you once again. Big hello from a big fan from Belgrade Serbia 🇷🇸 🙂🙏

  • Dear Deb, It is my honour to talk and seek advice from a retired World Cup Alpine ski winner!!! I am resident in Hong Kong and also a ski enthusiast (intermediate level skier feel comfortable on red and single diamond tracks). I watch lots of Deb's ski coaching video on KZhead and feel you are my online instructor. Unfortunately, I am unable for ski training for coming winter season due to lock-down in Hong Kong. In Hong Kong there are two alternatives indoor ski training available at this moment: (1) Skytech - ski simulator allow trainer for body rolling on computerized platform or (2) MaxxTrack - carpet ski. One of the ski training shops told me that Skytech able to train skier for developing deeper edge angle. However, I just feel (without scientific support) MaxxTrack simulates better downhill condition (i.e. I can perform steering, edging and short turning exercise on MaxxTrack freely). For Skytech machine, it seem that my foot locked on two pedals and perform edging exercises only. I guess Maxxtrack is better than Skytech in overall training (but unable to verify my observations without independent and professional judgment). Would you provide some advice (i.e. pros and cons for two different kind of training machine) such that I can make-up conclusion by myself. Thank you for your help Brian Remarks: two type of machines video are shown below Maxxtrack - kzhead.info/sun/m9uAoc5soZ6lkoU/bejne.html Skytech - kzhead.info/sun/fbeTibOJh3iBmac/bejne.html

  • Dear Deb, I follow your posts with great interest! I make my living in real estate development, but teaching skiing has been my passion for over 40 years. In addition to your instructional videos, I love how you are pushing the group to grow personally! In addition to your work to expand diversity in the ski industry, I especially loved you calling out the old timers group to stop the misogynistic comments!! Like you, my instructing passion has moved to the younger skiers. The favorite part of my season are the park and recreation classes that run for six weekends after the holidays. I have many kids returning for multiple seasons. It is so much fun to watch them develop athletically, and personally. We have stayed in touch via group text over the summer, and I have been sending preseason exercise ideas to build enthusiasm for the upcoming season, and to stay in touch. To this end, will you please continue to post preseason exercises that I can use with my kiddos? Have a wonderful season, and please keep the fantastic contact coming. I teach at a wonderful little ski area in Flagstaff, Arizona called SnowBowl. It pairs perfectly with a trip to the Grand Canyon, or Sedona. Please consider dropping in if it ever fits in your schedule. Warmly, Philip

I treat many older adults, and There are studies that show that one of the biggest limiters to continuing to stay active, strength wise, is general calf weakness. So, limiting loss Of calf muscle mass is always part of the strengthening plan for any of my patients. Great episode, and the bread looks tasty too.

  • Deb, I love your videos... I love watching them before I hit the slopes on Saturdays. I snowboarded for 25 years... I skied a little bit grown up in California but not enough to consider myself a skier.. My oldest son started skiing this year and so I took a lesson with him and immediately came back to me but I've been taking private lessons all year and watching your videos before I go up and my skiing is really improved. That's sourdough starter looks delicious by the way... I pulled out my flour I'm going to start my own starter after watching that again. Love your vibe.

  • Another good video, easy to understand. As you said in a previous episode, the amount of weight on the inside ski is situational, and what is very important is that the inside ski must be touching the snow, otherwise your hips may not move away from your skis.

  • I just went skiing a couple days ago in horrible slushy and icy conditions and I couldn't get out of the backseat no matter what I tried. It lead to my quads getting fried real fast, which has never happened too me before. I'm hoping it was mostly due to the cruddy conditions, but it made me aware that I'm still an intermediate skier with a lot to learn. Now I'm trying to learn through videos until next season, so thanks for the simple leg explanation.

  • Hi Deb, I have just recently been made aware of your great videos after taking a ski lesson. Firstly, I want to thank you for being so positive and breaking things down to the simplest level while making skiing seem hopeful and possible for beginners. I am having a hard time with the weight transfer. This became very clear trying the indoor exercise where I find most of my weight to be on the inside leg while I do the tipping. I find the pinky toe edge of my inside foot wants to take most of the weight. I am only able to do it if I put most of my weight in my arm into the counter. Where is the weight in the outside foot? Is the weight mostly on the inside edge of the outside foot, centered in the middle of the foot, or focused on pushing on the outside edge of the outside foot to bear the weight? Thanks!
