All Four Scream Movies Ranked Worst to Best! (Horror Franchise Ranking)
Scream is my favorite scary movie, and I love the franchise. I was in high school in the 90s. So this was the definitive horror movie franchise for me. Here you get the mystery of Ghostface as he kills a series of high school, college, or Hollywood humans. But how do the movies rank? All four Scream movies ranked from worst to best!

SCREAM 4 was ahead of its time. So underrated.
I agree! Get rid of 3 and I am a happy camper!
Yeah it was good movies but we know it's not better than the 1 and 2
Yes!!
@@commentchannel4654 it's better than 2 imo
@@Hasan-mb9vw really I think scream 2 is the best sequel to any slasher
Scream > Scream 4 (literally so underrated) > Scream 2 > Scream 3
Scream 4 isn't underrated, everyone thinks it is 2nd best, it just didn't get enough money.
3 is horrible! 4 is one of my favorites
I'm noticing the vast majority of people including myself think Scream 4 is the second best
I agree
@@msholdenh669 Definitely not everyone. 2 vs 4 is really the only change about most of these lists, but it seems pretty close in my experience.
Honestly, scream 3 is not a bad movie. Its just not as clever as the other movies on the franchise, but for me, it's really entertaining and has some great scenes on it. I like the chase scenes, the opening, the ending scene, its a great movie. It was also the first horror movie I ever watched so yeah
It's not terrible but it was held back by the controversy around violent movies at the time.... Which is a shame because the original script with Stu as Ghostface behind bars sounded like it could've been awesome.
@@razzprince2877 should've been the plot they used for 5... It honestly would've checked out perfectly with what they set up.
Scream 1 > scream 3 > scream 4 > scream 2 Scream 1, obviously, a classic. Scream 3 was the most entertaining for me. I enjoyed the movie remake aspect to it and the climax in the mansion. Scream 4 was decent. Scream 2 was the most forgettable for me. I didn't enjoy Mrs Loomis as the killer, and Micky??? Didn't make much sense as a pairing to me.
I agree with you're ranking almost completely, except I'd put 4 over 3. 3 is so underrated! A great twist, some amazing acting from Neve Campbell, and it called out Hollywood for a lot of the abuse and perversion that goes on there. 2 I also felt was the most overrated. It was the least intense (way too much of a happy, upbeat feel to it; alternative rock playing in the background at inappropriate moments), and Mrs. Loomis was...disappointing. Also, the only one that doesn't open with a phone call! That's Ghostface's whole thing.
1. Scream - All-time favorite slasher. Creepy but still so much fun. 9/10 2. Scream 2 - Strong sequel with improvement on an already great cast and some really suspenseful scenes. 9/10 3. Scream 4 - The most disjointed in the franchise, but I like all of the new stuff. Has an excellent opening and end but a so-so middle. 7.5/10 4. Scream 3 - Unimpressive compared to the others but a decent enough watch with some enjoyable elements. 6/10
captain whatsit how is scream creepy
Shawn Reng wow... How is it not?
First scream is pretty scary, the rest not so much
captain whatsit Yes, your ranking nails it. I think there's still a big gap between Scream and the sequels.
My ranking: 4.) Scream 3 3.) Scream 2 2.) Scream 4 1.) Scream
4. Scream 3 3. Scream 2 2. Scream 4 1. Scream
Same
Scream 4 is definitely a better movie than Scream 2. Scream 2 is like an afterthought for the MTV generation, Scream 4 is a real horror film.
Same
Bro that’s my ranking too
1. Scream 2. Scream 4 3. Scream 2 4. Scream 3
So right
G-Dog agree!
Yes my list as well! I had most fun with 4th one, but the first one is absolut legend. Two and three are not bad at all, I love all of them.
You got them exactly right.
Exactly how I rank em
Everybody has scream 3 in last place and scream in first place, when somebody asks you to rank the scream movies they are pretty much asking if you like scream 2 or scream 4 more
Very true....scream 2 can be abit boring on some recent watches
Yeah true I’ll take scream 4
Scream 2 was way better than Scream 4
honestly
Scream 3 is probably the second best in my opinion.
Scream Is Definitely One Of My Favorite Horror Movies Franchise Of All Time, I Think Scream 5 Needs Too Happen But Not The Same Without Wes Craven Though He Was Definitely The True Horror Master Mind
Zachary Lee They should do a remake but not a total remake sorta like what Halloween did
Definitely should be SCREAM 5 & 6
They are
I hope Scream 5 will be good and hopefully even better than Scre4m, which is already an underrated film
Looks like your wish came true lol
Best to worst: 1. Scream 2. Scream 4 3. Scream 2 4. Scream 3
This.
That’s Dead Meat’s ranking
Same. 1 and 4 are great . 2 and 3 had horrible acting
Sam Calc Yes!!
Sam Calc agreeddddd
1 scream it was awesome 2 scream 2 masterpice 3 scream 3 i think it is an awesome sequel to the first two scream movies 4 scream 4 it was good but not a masterpice like the first 3 movies
Scream 5 is in the works with the director of "Ready or Not" and Neve Campbell & David Arquette are set to return.
Courtney is returning
The trailer has dropped too Probably 1 or 2 weeks have passed
What a letdown it turned out to be.
1.Scream 1 2.Scream 2 3.Scream 4 Huge cap 4.Scream 3 Great video
I agree
My list as well, if they didn’t kill Randy in scream 2 and killed dewy instead (and maybe have cotton shoot Mrs loomis and then also try and kill Sidney, I would’ve enjoyed that) I would’ve liked the sequel better
I liked scream 3
Hey Sean. Thanks for the rankings. As always, awesome critique!!
4. Scream 3 (2000): 6/10 3. Scream 2 (1997): 7.5/10 2. Scream 4 (2011): 8/10 1. Scream (1996): 10/10

Love your channel dude. Your ranking videos are awesome. Would love to see your ranking of the 7 killers in the Scream series. Also your ranking of the Fast Franchise. Keep up the good work
Thanks so much. If you mean the fast and furious movies, already ranked them!!!
Love these horror rankings! Scream is one of my favorite scary movies (it was also mentioned in my Best/Worst Horror movies vid). This ranking is an easy one for me lol 1. Scream 2. Scream 2 3. Scream 4 4. Scream 3
I was Ghostface for Halloween this year Sean! I ALSO watch Scream a bit too much, but it's my favorite, not only horror movie, but my favorite slasher horror movie. Great ranking Sean. My ranking of the Scream movies would be: 1. Scream 2. Scream 2 3. Scream 4 4. Scream 3 I'll see you in your next video.
In general: 4. Scream 3 3. Scream 2 2. Scream 4 1. Scream But if I rank the endings Scream 4 was the best.
1. Scream (1996) 2. Scream 2 (1997) 3. Scream 3 (2000) 4. Scream 4 (2011)
Scream 2 is so underrated
I agree.
I haven’t heard anyone say anything bad about it. Only reason why people put it in last is because they are all good movies in my opinion and it’s hard to rank
@@thehitman6963 I think you're talking about Scream 3
Scream 3 is good. The Brother Reveal made since, and I just love seeing Ghostface killing in Mansion.
I do not agree with this statement but I Won’t hate

I came here from your new Scream trailer reaction. Seeing as you said in that video that Scream was your favorite scary movie of all-time I already know which Scream movie will be #1 lol
cool ranked video j like your videos man
Great ranking, Sean. So many people put 4 over 2, but not me. I agree with just about everything you said on the series. All the lovers of Scream 4 don't get the issue I had with it, which is a jarring juggling between the returning cast and new cast which is unbalanced and seem to be fighting for our attention.. You put it succinctly. Well done. Part 3 takes a big hit in Williamson's absence script-wise.
Final Destination!
1. Scream 4 2. Scream 2 3. Scream 4. Scream 3 - Watching the whole movie is like being in a boring version of a Saw movie, I always skip to the killer reveal

Scream 4 absolutely sucks
@@jpinfinity3758 no it doesn’t lmao
@@alextownley9388 yes it does compared to the other movies
i love the scream franchise bc it’s mildly realistic, there’s a mystery, and it’s kinda hilarious, especially the first one
1. Scream 2 2. Scream 3. Scream 3 4. Scream 4 I’ve always preferred the Sequel over the Original. Slightly better cast, the body count was larger, the death scenes were more elaborate, and slightly scarier. Mickey and Mrs. Loomis were perfect as the killers although they weren’t on the level of Billy and Stu in the first film.
Scream: Amazing Scream 2: Really good Scream 3: Pretty Good Scream 4: Fantastic Scream 5: Not bad
I've only seen Scream. I just saw it five minutes ago, I really loved it!
Just stumbled on your channel. Gotta say I love it. Scream is without a doubt my favorite franchise. For me, my ranking is Scream Scream 3, cheesie yes, but love the final act. Scream 2 Scream 2022 Scream 4, between pacing, lighting, and the reveal, this one is currently my bottom. Great ranking video
1. Scream 2. Scream 3 3. Scream 2 4. Scream 4 (Seriously, half of the lines in the movie were the same as the other films but replaced with different characters. "Oh, I found this person and tried to help them, that's why my hand is covered in blood." I felt they were just trying to recreate nostalgia of the first Scream.)
Hey Sean Chandler! As much as ur Horror Franchise Movie Rankings r great I was wondering, r u gonna do ranking of top horror villains & protagonists from horror movies like The Exorcist, The Conjuring, Friday the 13th, Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Scream & others or not?
My ranking: 4. SCR3AM 74% B- Easily the weakest imo, but still an interesting and decent film. Its pretty disjointed, but has a good cast, plot and still has a nice feel. 3. SCRE4M 88% A- A huge improvement from the last one, a great entry to the franchise, with a creative plot, great cast, score, makes for a great scream movie. 2. Scream II 99% A+ One of my favorite sequels of all time. Its so entertaining and has a really great cast. Its such a unique and interesting horror movie that is really Timeless imo. 1. Scream 100% A+ My favorite horror movie of all time and one of my favorite movies of all time. It was such different then any other horror movie at the time, it definitely inspired loads of filmmakers and it made one of my all time favorite movie franchises of all time.
4. Scream 2: Good sequel but every is predictable 3. Scream 4: Good movie with root back and original Slasher movie 2. Scream 3: very Good movie, it's darker than order Scream, and the killer is smart he was the smartest killer of the movie. And FIRST.... Scream. The original movie is the best. Thank u Wes Craven To make this Horror movie 👍 r.i.p

Sorry I had to miss this one. This may change after I review the series and dive into each movie but my ranking as follows: 2,4,1,3
4. Scream 3 (4/10) 3. Scream 4 (6/10) 2. Scream 2 (8.9/10) 1. Scream (10/10)
1. Scream 2 (Strong opening start, after Randy's death, it really felt like any of the beloved leads could bite it) 2. Scream 4 (KirbyKirbyKirbyKirbyKirbyKirbyKirby) 3. Scream (Might be the technical best, but I feel like we didn't care about the characters JUST yet, so the stakes feel non-existent) 4. Scream 3 (Fun, but a complete mess)

I agree with this list. It's a pretty easy ranking to do I think. Some people put 4 ahead of 2 but I dont. Scream 4 is good but its not better than Scream 2.
I agree. 2 is better than 4. The fact that it’s the only film in the series to take out one of the main characters stands out for me.
1. Scream 2 2. Scream 4 3. Scream 4. Scream 3.
Yup
Interesting
Hey Sean! What are your thoughts on Blumhouse Productions making a Scream 5 and 6, if they did?
Scream 2 Scream 1 Scream 4 Scream 3 All in that order
Gale weathers’ haircut in scream 3 is a sin itself
My personal fav was scream 4 than scream than the sequel and then the trilogy
I wish you would have commented on the Scream TV Series as well as the movies. Nice list. Here's mine: 1. Scream 2. Scream TV Series 3. Scream 2 4. Scream 3 5. Scream 4 But I love all of them.
I haven't seen the series. But I virtually never include TV shows and movies in rankings together. They're two different story telling formats. Comparing a 2 hour movie to 10 hours of tv seems odd to me.
@@SeanChandlerTalksAbout thx 4 the reply. I understand. I would love to hear your comentary on some of the popular horror TV series (both past and present) that are out there. Also, if you haven't already, I'd love to hear your thoughts on The Shining or Stephen King movies in General
The first Scream is also my favorite horror film of all time and this is my favorite series too! 1 Scream 2 Scream 4 3 Scream 2 4 Scream 3 Although 4 and 2 are so close for me they are interchangeable

Same as James A Janisse (Dead Meat)
Ranked worst to best 4. Scream 3 3. Scream 4 Scream and scream 2 are tied I love them both equally I can’t choose one over the other 😂
My top: Scream : the best of all , iconic opening, and end , Cindy was amazing at the end , they way she become a fighter , the scene where she desapear and call Stu with the ghost face voice is epic, such a kick ass Scream4: it was amazing the way they all come back , great and original story, excellent cast and put some new things in the table , it’s not that epic or memorable like the first 2, but at last it’s beings fresh things into the table, Scream 2: it’s great , it’s where you start to love all this characters , great story and excellent characters design, but it’s feel like it’s just reprising the first arc and made it a little more bigger , nothing really new to the table . But it’s a great great movie , I love it Scream 3: it’s great but no that great like the others , it’s super fun to watch and it’s a nice close to the first trilogy , it’s try to bring some new staff into the serie but it’s diseño feet that well like they did in scream 4. It’s a nice conclusion from cidney and Hera mother arc , but it could be better , beside cidney had so little screen time on it , anyway . I’m waiting for scream 5 !! I am a fan now
My list goes like this: 4. "Scream 3" - (Not as bad as people say, BUT to me, there is NO DEBATE that this is the weakest of the series) 3. "Scream 2" - (Great movie, but I thought Mickey was too obvious. DAMN THE INTERNET for leaking this script! I think the original script would have been better) 2. "Scream 4" - (Jill is as close to Billy & Stu as you're going to get) 1. "Scream" - (No brainer. Idgad how many more they make, they'll NEVER top this)
That's probably my list as well. Scream 3 is my least favorite. The first Scream is definitely the best one. Scream 2 is entertaining but the story wasn't that great, and Scream 4 has a better and more compelling story than the second one.
Same ranking by James A Janisse from *_Dead Meat_* channel

Scream (1996) One of my all time favorite moves and it has in my opinion the 2nd best introduction to a movie of all time. 2. Scream 2 (I loved it but they killed off Randy and some scenes were very cringeworthy) 3. Scream 4 (Great movie and Great Killers but just not as good as the first two. 4. 4th: Scream 3 (6.8/10) 3rd: Scream 4 (8.5/10) 2nd: Scream (9.8/10) 1st: Scream 2 (10/10) Scream 3 rewrites screwed up the film. But it's still watchable! Scream 4 was a lot of fun, but like the 1st one a little bit predictable. The original Scream is epic, but I didn't care so much for the characters yet, and it's was pretty predictable on who was in on the killings. Scream 2 was intense, most of the time. I’m actually in the minority here and agree with yours completely ^
I have... Scream 2 Scream 4 Scream 1 Scream 3 In horror films we always like to automatically give top spot to the first one. I think Scream 1 had too much of a dull middle third compared to the other films in the franchise. It does have arguably the best written ghostface characterwise but overall I cannot give it top spot. I think Scream 3 had a more engaging middle third than part 1 but it fell short on creative scare factor so thats why I would still put part 1 above it. Where part 1 loses the most marks for me is in three aspects: the middle third where basically nothing happened apart from the principal's death. The reveal of Billy being the killer when he was basically the sole suspect whole film was underwhelming. And also the fact that we didn't see any of them unmasked. I rewatch these movies a lot including during this past halloween season so I can view things objectively. The extreme highest Scream 1 should be on anybody's list is #2. Micky was the most aggressive killer in the series and Mrs. Loomis was the biggest reveal. Jill from part 4 was great in the revelation and also as a character but because her partner Charlie was kinda lame when you stack him up against Micky, I'd give part 2 the edge.

yessss, everyone hates on scream 2.
1, 4, 2, 3. Scream 4 is so damn good. I can't believe the number of people who sleep on it. It was so well done. As a HUGE fan of the original since I was ten in 1996, it made me feel like they breathed life back into the franchise. And, I'm sorry, but anyone who ranks the 2nd over the 1st is just a lost human. Also, Scream 3 is a bad movie--not awesomely bad, not clever--just bad.
My ranking worst to best (4) scream 1 (3) scream 2 (2) scream 4 (1) scream 3
My Ranking 5- Scream 4: This film was repetitive even when there were a few new ideas which were just in the background (6.2/10) 4- Scream 5: The og trio being side characters and new characters being introduced was a bit sad but there were new ideas (7.1/10) 3- Scream: I liked it a lot, the opening scene was amazing and iconic! everything went downhill from there but not too much (9.2/10) 2- Scream 3: I know many people hate this movie, but I liked it. The voice changer thing was inaccurate but interesting! (9.2/10) 1- Scream 2: Better than the original! Best film in the franchise! Good cast & exploration of known characters (9.8/10)
This is the only franchise out of the slashers where I’m super indecisive scream and scream 2 are basically equal to me… but tbh I watched Scary Movie a million times before I ever watched Scream so it kinda ruined the whole thing cuz I kinda knew what was gonna happen sadly… I wish I knew what it was like to watch it blind … but bc I don’t scream 2 slightly edges it out 1. Scream 2 2. Scream 3. Scream 4 4. Scream 3
Its a shame about Scream 3 because Kevin Williamson wasn't there as much.
Yo I'm currently filming Scream 5, and I can't wait for Scream (scream 6) to come out!!
You should watch scream the tv series. It really has a good twist on modern technology and how he uses it.
Mine 1. Scream 2. Scream 4 3. Scream 2 4. Scream 3
I cant decide which one is my favorite so best to worst 1:Scream/Scream 2 2:Scream 4 3:Scream 3
1. Scream: Seeing Drew Barrymore being gutted like a fish and hung from a tree so her parents can see the horror is fuckin' classic! So bad ass and this had the best finale as well. "My mom and dad are gonna' be so mad at meeeee!" LOOOL!!! 2. Scream 2: This was kinda' hated back in the day "It just wasn't as good blah blah blah." Bullshit, it's pretty damn close and beats anything that came after it. I wish we still got movies like this nowadays but times change sadly. Sidney putting a bullet in that chick's head at the end after she is already dead was priceless! 3. Scream 4: This is underrated but brought nothing new either. It has the best ending since the first one and Craven seemed to be into this more than 3, I guess a 10 year break was needed! The violence was upped and pretty bad ass! This feels like a true Scream film and pisses on Roman"whaaaaa....mommy didn't love me...I hate you Sidney whaaaaaa!!" Bridger's momma's boy face/Scream 3 in general. Scream 3 is boring....I'm sorry. 4. Scream 3: I saw this at the theater and man, what a letdown! It was just more of the same except worse and toned down(it's rated R for fuck's sakes....why is it toned down? It ain't PG-13), the characters looked weird and I just didn't like the Hollywood setting. Most of the new characters were just spoiled Hollywood premadonnas and only cared about themselves, I'm glad Ghostface offed them, fuck 'em! The GRAND FINALE wasn't that grand although different. The movie felt more like Scooby Doo than an ultra violent Scream sequel(like it should've been) which was really shitty! It just wasn't that good and you could tell Wes Craven just wasn't into it that much.....no passion. It felt like a TV movie of the week director made this, just too dull for a Wes Craven film. It should've been called "As the Ghostface Turns" for it's sappy soap opera finale......Sidney's half brother is the big surprise killer and behind all this all because he has mommy issues? Lame.
My two most favorite horror franchises of all time are Childs play and scream
