She was amazing but why this pose? I know it’s iconic but it feel a little like not-honoring her. She was more than that.
Yeah but many other countries film also use this pose.. As it is iconic nd only can be done by Marilyn Monroe.. So maybe that's why
Was part of the film. This specific scene ruined her DiMaggio relationship.
It’s iconic
Totally 💯
I think it’s honoring her.
That statue doesn't sit right with me. Why did they have to make a statue of her with her dress flying up. Why not a statue of something more Marilyn like her reading a nice book or something
Fr like actually most likely the people who made the statue were creepy old guys (TYSM FOR THE LIKES!!!!!)
Because it’s an iconic pose of hers and every time someone does a photo like that everyone thinks of Marilyn it’s endearing
it is an iconic part of her life
@@ieattoesiguess yeah
@@cvspharmacy8048 ik just because it’s iconic doesn’t mean we should make a statue of this precious beautiful women with her dress up it just doesn’t seem right. And there’s plenty other iconic photos they could have done
She was one of the most loved people in this world her and princess Diana they both deserve a lot better tho
I’m sure now, that people still couldn't see what she wanted to show, they still looked at her like she was just a doll.
Why couldn’t they have kept her legacy alive with something that was her, not a character she played in a movie🫤
They did, her dresses and belongings are in museums. Kim ruined 1 of them though
@@EtnaIsEternal And it's all thanks to Ripley for letting that happen. Can't blame Kim for asking cause if they declined her she would've found something else to go for.

it sucks that that is how she is remembered. she was such an amazing person that deserved the world and more, and that's how we remember her? there are so many amazing poses, she could have been sitting with a book on a bench but no this pose is what it is. she was more than that.
It’s probably because it’s known to be iconic. She always posed like this but i still find it upsetting that this is the only way we honor her
Not to be that type of person, and other people agree with me. But, if you are bothered by it because clearly you are. YOU are the one sexualizing the pose. It’s nothing bad plus it’s just a pose and no matter what pose they chose we would still be honoring/remembering her for the same thing. No offense but deal with it pls. Complaining about it on the internet is not the best thing to do. Even if it was her “sitting on a bench with a book”, we would still be remembering her FOR a pose. Complaining about these things are nonsense.
Not to mention it is a VERY iconic pose to the community as you can see in the comments. Saying otherwise, yes is an opinion, but the fact you’re complaining is upsetting. PS: Instead of being bothered or sexualizing the pose whatever the story is behind this comment, just respect we are even honoring her. The people who invented the statues of her should not be ashamed because they are doing the right thing by remembering her.
@@fwmqri Im not sexualizing the pose, even marilyn said that she was uncomfortable filming the scene. even if we are remembering her 'for a pose' at least it would be a pose with her doing something she liked
@@valentine1770 It’s literally the one of the last scenes she did before her death. She also wore 2 pairs of white underwear so nobody would glance. She was being careful and was prepared for the scene. If she felt uncomfortable she wouldn’t of did the scene MULTIPLE times.

@@vi9486 yes! Finally someone said it!
Yeah...lowkey a statue of her reading would've been amazing...but if they really had to make a statue there was one pic in which her skirt wasn't blowing up....and covered everything....

Terrific! But they don't have the statue's legs looking as good as hers. What a beauty she was.
seriously? the legs should be the least of ur concern tbh
@@honey_luv99 That scene, from "The Seven Year Itch" (& the still photos from it) is among the most iconic of her entire career. It was considered one of the most memorable scenes because of the way the air from the subway grate blew her skirt up..very racy for the time & had everyone talking about her legs. A huge billboard of it was at the premiere of the movie, towering over the theater, & over the years millions of posters have been made of it. For many people around the world & several generations, if you mention Marilyn this is the image that comes to mind. That's why I mentioned the statue's legs. They don't really look like hers & I think a sculpture or painting of such a famous image could've been more accurate although the statue is still impressive. That was my point. If her face had been off I would've commented on that. Don't know if you know the story but that scene is also famous for causing marital strife for Marilyn. A huge crowd was watching as several takes were filmed. Her husband, Joe DiMaggio, was there & got more & more upset each time the wind/skirt effect was repeated. He was furious that it showed her underwear & didn't like the crowd's reaction each time. Marilyn later told friends that when they went home that night they argued over it & Joe hit her. The marriage went downhill from there. That scene & the stills from it are among the most memorable of her career for several reasons. Fans loved it but it turned out to be a bad moment for her & is recounted & discussed in all the biographies of her life. For most people those 2 or 3 shots from that scene simply showcase her overall beauty, sex appeal & glamour. As for my comment, it wasn't a concern as much as an observation.
