Okay, so provisioning may be just a fancy word for shopping but we're on a yacht so I'll run with it. In this video I'll walk you through who pays for all the food, where we buy it and the logistics behind feeding a small army of crew & guests. Bon Appetit!
Big thanks to Julian at La Boutique Foodland for letting me feature his shop and all the amazing produce he sources.

What I find the most incredible is how you use up practically everything in your refrigerator before the next order comes in, and how you just know how much food to order.
I love seeing these "mundane" tasks and the day to day work that is done on yachts.
KZhead randomly suggested your channel to me a couple weeks ago and I am in love. I subscribed immediately as I found the content so entertaining and well produced. Your channel is so informative and therapeutic and I love just listening to it while I work (work from home desk job). I'm not at all a cook and that never interested me but honestly, I want to start cooking. haha Even my wife has noticed me randomly suggesting things that we can try to make for dinner and she's actually liked my suggestions, although she wonders why and how I suddenly have this new found interest. lol Thanks for the wonderful content. Honestly, you could turn this channel into a bi-weekly reality TV cooking and adventure show and I would absolutely tune in!
This is so lovely to hear George, thank you and welcome!
Same story here, it randomly appeared (although I do check regularly on traveling channels so it might be slightly related) and been hooked ever since... yesterday. xD
@@the_crewchef I found this randomly and am loving your content. You are incredibly talented - I can barely make a cheese toastie!
RE: Reposting - No apology necessary! Happily re-watching!
I have never been on a yacht. I don't plan on being on a yacht. I have nothing to do with yachting. Or cruising or anything else of that nature. Yet I remain intrigued by your videos. Absolutely fascinating and entertaining. I admire you for handling such an incredibly complex job. Love your videos. Thank you.
I’ve been through culinary school. Have worked in many restaurants. And I just am amazed by what yacht chefs can do in a galley with zero staff. Yes I watch all the “Below Deck” shows, literally just to watch the chef lol. When they go all “real world” with the trips to bars on nights off that’s when I wait for the next episode lol. In constant amazement of seeing 5 ⭐️ food from such a tiny galley.
I don't know about super yachts, but having worked on oil rigs, both offshore, and on land, I know that good food plays a massive part in keeping people happy. It doesn't have to be Michelin star quality or presentation, but it really makes a difference when the camp boss/head chef thinks about what they serve up. I was on a land rig where the rig crew created a petition to get rid of the cook, either they all went, or the cook went. In the end, the cook went.
I’ll gladly watch all the re-edited videos again because I enjoy your content and can’t stand how you were treated by the company after the fact!!!
You have to be absolutely sure that your employer/charterers are happy with videoing for release to internet.
I think it just the logo that been edited(blurred) , I haven't see any cut part yet
@@Wonka_Tonka I'm not sure, TBH.
As a new subscriber, I appreciate you reposting!!
Hi Chef. I’m a former head chef and worked on a private ship for five years traveling up the west coast of British Columbia to the Queen Charlotte Islands and Alaska. I love watching you do your thing. Great work. Thanks for sharing your life with us.
Loved this repost. Tilly and you had fantastic chemistry. Hoping the both of you find that great friend/co worker again in your next adventure. Cheers!
I've commented in previous videos that our world-renowned crew chef would enjoy visiting other crew chefs and helping them make some of their favorite meals, sharing chef tricks to make great meals with minimal hassle and work, helpful tools, favorite knives and other utensils, etc., etc. She has lots of contacts already such as Jared Watney, the captains and owners of the other yachts she got to know in San Diego when the ship which shall not be named was hauled out for major work, and was sitting for weeks next to those other yachts. She fired up their pizza making oven and lots of folks picked their own ingredients for their pizza. A good time was had by all, but someone somewhere apparently objected to her videoing, and here we are.
I am so sorry that you have to hide the name of your vessel now, but it does not take away from their fantastic quality! Thank you so much for making it work for now.
That is pretty stupid, that she have to hide the name of the vessel. It´s not TheCrewChefs fault though. But if i were the owner, I would see it as great exposure for the service I provide onboard and what great chefs we use .... 😃 But some people only see exposure in a negative way.🤔
Why sorry? I think she’s ok lol.
I'd guess it's not the company so much as it is guest privacy. Lots of ways that could be invaded without even showing a guest's face.
@@liquidsnow1 that’s why someone will never own a boat like this…
@@liquidsnow1 I understand the sentiment, but I think the clientele that pays a 1/4 million a week for a trip do not shop for a yacht based upon public popularity and public popularity most likely hurts the brand.
The more I think about it the more I am impressed with the way you're able to make such a variety of dishes (many cuisines, both fancier for guests and less fancy but still good for the crew, meals, snacks) and also regularly know how much of each thing you're going to need to get so when you do your shopping trip you're spot on so stuff doesn't go to waste but you also don't run out between the limited shopping stops you get. Then you also need to be flexible if the guests tastes change and they want something different. To layer on top of all that, what I'm becoming more and more impressed by is the way you need to do this, all the time, weeks on end, and you manage to keep a great energy and spirit about all of it. Like... impressive.
Especially for everyone who has been with the channel in the past: can we actually press the like button this time? She is not asking for it herself (kudo's!) but re-uploads are horrible for channels, so let's help out so she ius motivated to make new content too :)
So kind....
@@jillywilson4582 is that sarcastic or…?
I'm saying you're kind Lex. I went and did what you suggested.
Glad old videos are coming back!!
So happy this video is back, I love the ones that cover the business side of how you manage your pro kitchen, its super interesting
Not a chef not on a yacht but the family now loves the honey roasted seeds etc in a salad... congrats on what is now 138k subscribers
Load out on a naval vessel follows a similar process. It's just a lot more work. When I ran the galley storeroom on one of my ships, we were required to carry sufficient food for 45 days for 250 officers and men. After receiving the food (on the pier or by helicopter), the freezer would be packed to the overhead with a wall of food in the door. I only had a thin crawl space to slink over the tops of the boxes to locate what was need for the next day. I admire the organization in your reefers and storerooms.
Insane....
@@jillywilson4582 Do you mean Steven is Insane... he might be. LOL
@@Ronald7077 no. Only the task. 👍
Takes a true lack of morals to be a part of the navy or military. Hope u have grown up.
Congratulations on exceeding 138,000 subscribers!
As a Lead Captain of a Private/Charter Aircraft, I admire your professionalism and attention to detail. No need to apologize as I shall continue following you as long as you're posting. Truly enjoy the content and editing. Hope you and Tiley can continue working together. You guys make a good team.

Love watching you cooking and the provisioning video is great
These videos are fascinating, glad you are allowed to continue to post. Learn so much from them.
Thank you so much on the info that you've gave me an insight on what it takes on stocking a ship for food and drink and making sure it's good in stock for all your guests and the crew and making sure everybody's happy that likes to eat their different kinds of foods because nobody eats the same thing very cool
One of my favorites. Glad to see it back up.
Congrats!!! I really appreciate you sharing part of your life and the high quality dishes you girls cook. For foodies like me this channel is a must!!!

I will re-watch every video you post all the way through to help out with the KZhead algorithm! All good content!
When you find cool shops like that, do you spread the word to other yacht chefs so that business' stay in business? I am sure Navy chefs on smaller ships and subs would be jealous of what you have available to cook. New subscriber, and your videos are relaxing, interesting, and interesting as a home cook. You are very good in front of the camera, and the editing is spot on. Keep up the great work!
Getting a lot of appetite seeing the high quality products and yours and Tilly's decorations on the plates! 😃😋
This episode is great! The specialty shop is a great place to just get lost in all the thoughts of what could be. I tend to get stuck in places like that for a long time.
