    • Rby had grown bored with the sport while Vito finally realized he had something to prove when it came to folkstyle. Its great that he has bigger dreams buy this is no small feat and the things required to win this tournament should serve him well in international competition. He figured out how to win at a style that wasn't as fun for him coming from a freestyle pedigree. OW!

  • "Don't forget to enjoy what you're doing." Arujau echoes other solid champions like Retherford who craved the excitement of just running out on the mat. Remember Zain's enthusiastic smile at the end of a match? Looked just like Vito's. Lee, RBY, Fix and maybe a few others possibly and slowly drained the fun away from their literal, time-consuming, life-enveloping "passions?" I had a coach who liked to say "If you're putting this much time into it, might as well be good at it and have some fun." With all the MMA training RBY's been doing lately (and seeing Nickal's recent success), watch to see just how badly he takes the loss: probably not too hard with one foot already planted outside the amateur rectangle and into the octagon of riches [he hopes]. Well-deserved reward to the hungrier competitor who exemplifies wrestling at its finest, with the family interview/reaction to underline even more why he won.

  • Vito handled his VICTORY like a champ. Walked back to the center and shook his opponents hand and didn’t do some “viral” celebration like most do. It’s unnecessary and not needed. Oh wait Yianni did the same thing. Cornell is where it’s going to be for college wrestling in the next 5 years.

    • This whole tournament is the perfect example to why there shouldn't be seeds. Every wrestler in their respective weight classes who qualifies should put their name into a hat and fill the brackets by luck of the draw.

    • @@chidoriman20 How can they rank them from best to worst when there is a tournament to decide that? If they are going to seed them according to rank (opinion), then they may as well just not have the tournament. Makes no sense to seed them and give the highest ranked wrestlers the easiest path to the semi finals. Make it interesting. Besides, if a wrestler is the best, it shouldn't matter if their first round match could potentially be against another great wrestler, right?
