Playing a Doctor in The Sims 4 Get to Work can be quite the experience, what with you being the only person on staff who does anything, and the huge lines of patients collapsing seeking care. It's fun but at times very frustrating.

Ea needs to start updating Expansion Packs. At least the earlier ones. My sims should be able visit the hospital if they're ill and call the cops on klepto sims who have stolen from me. Also burglars!
I was really pissed at sickness system. Your sims can get sick with same things as patients... but you just buy a miracle drug and it is cured.
Oh burglas... I'll never forget the first time I played Sims 3. Burglar invaded my home the very first night! Traumatized forever. It really creeped me out. First thing I did when playing Sims 4 was LOCK THE FRIGGING DOORS. Actually surprised there are no burglars in Sims 4. Instead there's a creepy old vampire dude outside my window at night... and he can STAY outside.
@@MsLenepigen wait until you get Eco Living.
8 years of #4 wat they doing
Luckily going to university shoots you directly to level 8 and you get to start with taking care of patients immediately and you make BANK
Lol it’s too bad that it’s not like real life! Overpay for college, so can’t live on your own and are forced to move back in with your parents. Then after applying for a job for several months, you FINALLY get a job as an underpaid resident; aka, level 1. 🤦🏻♀️🤣🤣
@@TruthSayer2007 Welp, you ARE the truth sayer so I guess I'll believe you.
Which degree?
@@madnessproductions6189 biology I believe
What should my kid focus on to get into distinguished degree for biology
Recently I discovered that making a club with roommates makes dorm life easier. Make their activity as take bath, sleep, fix, and clean. No more stinky roommates! I wonder if it can be used for orderly? hmm...
goth bunie Great idea! At least the mystery puddles and grimy, broken equipment would be dealt with efficiently.
omg if it works, my gameplay will be so much more joyful ;u; thanks for the idea!
😲 omg, that's such a good idea! I wouldnt have thought about using it that way... you just opened my mind to so many more ideas 😂
The only thing I don't like about the Doctor career is that the other staff are just chatting or doing other things except admitting new patients or giving me a notification that the patient is ready to be diagnose (with the help of other staff doing the testing)
It would be kinda fun to be part of a team. Making sure patients don't wander off. As it stands, there isn't a lot of reason to care whether you treat patients or not.
I feel the same way. The doctor career is my favorite but it would be amazing if the other staff performed some work.
ndnadia9 I have it working so all the staff do stuff such as doctors test and diagnosis patients and nurses take patients to there seats ,but obviously I use mods
Carl's Sim Guides I would say too, Carl, the whole ‘party event system’ ruins active careers except for the Acting Career (as acting in film requires to get tasks done in a mannered time) and perhaps the Police Career?? I think it would’ve been more effective for their to be a list of tasks needed to get done during your shift but have a system like Diner Dash or Two Point Hospital where random events happen(?). I think timed events can be a thing for the active careers (including police career) but more like TS2’s timed event system and for emergencies. It would be cool to called into work too if needed for emergencies.
It always annoyed me that in the Get to work careers your coworkers don't do anything, which is the most visible in the doctor career. You're basically the only person who pushes forward all that queue of patients (that is, when you have the right tasks to do). And the worst thing are coworkers getting stuck talking with patients so you can't take care of them. You should at least be able to order around your useless coworkers.
I do not underestimate the value of producing food from one's pockets at whim. In postgrad I was known for pulling biscuits from my pockets during workshops. You had your pocket banquets; I had my pocket biscuits.
When he said "My coworkers don't do anything!" I felt that 😔✊
I totally haven't performed an operation on a Sim because it was available as a treatment and operating on a Sim was a promotion task.... even though I knew that was the wrong treatment. I wouldn't do something as reckless as that....
Similar situation now.. need to deliver a baby.. 7working days later.. still no baby to deliever :/
I am actually a real doctor, avid Sim player, and Carl enthusiast. I failed miserably at this f-ing career. Seriously. This was so crap. I wasted 8 hours looking after one patient.
Lol
Playing the Doctor careeer in 2020 be like: "why is no one wearing PPE???"
I love the way that you tell the story. It had to take hours of writing and editing, but you made it seamless and so entertaining! Thumbs up, as always. Thank you.
Thanks for noticing, in my mind I call it a Let's Play hybrid. It's scripted, but based on events as they happen. It does take a good bit of editing but nothing like something that is all over the place where I have to load a lot of different save games and get footage. It's also more fun for me. I like thinking how absurd Sims is if it were reality. Anyway, it's a style I'm gradually evolving and it's cool people seem to like it.
@@CarlsSimGuides you're so smart
@@CarlsSimGuides You do a fantastic job! I really hope that your channel catches on and grows.
Lol, this video is just one hot take after another
"Potentially mood threatening diseases" lmao
"Haha! Vlad, who sucks now?" This reminds me of one time Vlad decided to pay a visit to my spellcaster. I was able to wake her up and cast Strangeify making him turn all green and warty then I got him to streak in the neighborhood.
lmao as a D&D player I burst out cackling at the D&D references!
Thank you for 21 minutes of chuckles, snorts, giggles, and outright laughs. I’m glad I watched at 4:30AM as the rest of the house is asleep rather than wondering if I’ve turned into Dino Girl. I recently played this career for the first time in years, and it’s a lot different than I remembered. When it first released I remember my Sim going to random locations to treat other Sims, using some handheld scanner thing, and occasionally kicking the patient in the shin after. So going to Sims Hopkins where nobody else does anything and you get judgy pop ups informing you patients have left after waiting too long, maybe you should step up your pace was frustrating in the extreme. I agree completely with your observations, and love your placement of the career light. Why that doesn’t trigger above the covers woohoo is a mystery. That DM needs more imagination.
The doctor career you remember is probably the one from The Sims 3: Ambitions.
hope this becomes a trilogy. i'd love to see you make a vid on the scientist career, since it's one of my favorites.
Dude, seriously your commentaries and subtle jokes are the best! You can probably do any kind of playthrough like LP and it would be awesome
I was thinking this the other day. When working at the hospital, you never have enough time to help all the patients.
There’s so much potential then it just sort of peters out. That’s the problem with all the active careers. Your sim is the only one that actually does anything, and most of the tasks make no sense based on what actually needs to be done. If you need to use a machine and everything is broken then repairs should count as work. But fixing things takes up time and you miss your chance to get promoted because you spent time actually working.
I have only recently played the doctor career for the first time in Sims4. I decided that my Sim would study biology at university and I would jumpstart the doctor career. So my Sim started at level 7 and I had absolutely no idea what was going on and why every other employee was just standing around. I searched for an option to order the orderly around but that isn't a thing. And the diagnostic process was hellish until I did a little online search on the diseases and their symptoms. I should thank Carl for that as I owe my sim's entire career to his Sims Guides!
Yeah, the other Sims standing around is a bummer. They aren't admitting patients, what are they doing? There isn't any real code to their work as far as I can tell. Scientist has the ordering around system and i really would work well here! Broaden the tasks and let players manage a hospital. Doctor has some good things going on and it can be fun, just needs some polish. Seems the player is meant to admit everyone while handling them once they're in exam rooms too.
You really know how to tell your story and explain what you are doing, all while making us laugh our butts off. Thanks for that. we need it.
The Telehealth session was great :-) I'm a massage therapist in real life and I'm doing two telehealth sessions today!
It’s why I use UI cheat extension-so i can bypass the boring parts and get to the actual exams part
Love it when I'm still working on my first or second patient and the game yells at me for letting other patients leave. Not my fault I'm the ONLY DOCTOR WHO DOES ANYTHING HERE!
This was fun, I enjoy your humor very much. I've already beaten the Dr. career with much help from your online guild. (Oddly I never had to do surgery??) So helpful, from helping me raise the perfect child for a job to knowing what to help my adults prep and grow into the perfect sim for their choosen careers. Thank you for everything you do in helping us out with our own games.
I wish there was a cheat that will turn off the work time to the doctor's career because I want to keep working.
Yeah not fond of that having to go home thing and honestly don't understand it. If I make a super Sim I can have no energy drain and work all day.
Jesus u need rest too 😂
it would be possible to mod it.
They're following the American System where doctors get to go home. In the rest of the world Doctors live in Hospitals, cause lines are super long and hospitals are completely understaffed. Except Japan which has too many Doctors, and very few who need to go to the hospital.
yea and that is why in the US you pay 400$ for a band-aid. and why an estimated 530,000 families turn to bankruptcy each year because of medical issues.
16:43 The Doctors' wrist just broke.🤣 19:14 Dude just changed clothes twice!😂😂 19:48 Synchronized disgust.😄
love the editing
Hey, thanks. I'm actively trying to improve so it's nice to hear.
I love your sense of humor with these. And now that objective list shall forever be the DM in my mind. It is true that it seems to be working against you sometimes in doctor while I find it's usually a bit easier to check off in detective and scientist.
I would listen to your videos in podcast form. Playing sims while binging your videos in the background makes playing Sims 4 much more enjoyable 🥰
Yeah, the fact that the game keeps the hospital so understaffed, with coworkers who do diddly-squat, is a real issue. The hospital should have a lot more going on! I mean, I know it's a fairly small clinic, but still. . . At least there's some variety with the illnesses, and a bit more gameplay with watching for symptoms and figuring out what it is! But yeah, the whole "dungeon master" system, as you put it, can really stick you in a corner if you can't do everything on the list, and it's just -- FRUSTRATING, sometimes. *grumbles* This is why I think careers should have simple "active days" instead of being fully active. This sort of gameplay is fine once in a while, but it gets tedious fairly fast.
It's like Idiocracy: The Early Years.
I'm so entertained by your reviews. They're funny, charming and informative. Despite knowing most of what Sims 4 has to offer, I find your take on careers, gameplay and packs really enjoyable. Now and then I learn something new, too. So happy you got yourself a channel. And thank you for educating me on all things Sims for years through your website.
LOL 😆 very nice chaotic neutral Dr Carl! I did not see a house call from the receptionist though. Also, if you want your beds full you need to make the bed before another SIM will be admitted.
You are on another level here. I don't know if quarantine has got you punchy or not, but this was one of the better videos, I laughed so much! Thanks.
Carl, you did it again! I really love the new editing style. Even though I've played through Get to Work, I still watch your guide gameplay for the entertainment.
Did anyone else have to pause the game in order to finish laughing so that nothing was missed? Best. Episode. Ever.
This EP missed the opportunity to introduce wheelchairs to the game. Hopefully, they go add that feature as well
Carl, this is just what I needed today. Glorious entertainment. Useful information. A joyful voice. Thanks sooo much for posting this.
I'm soooooo dead you really kicked a patient out lmfaoooooo
The sim engaged in a fetish LOL OMG Nooooo!
Glad to see a video from you always fun watching you.
I just recently discovered your videos, and I'm very much enjoying them. You did an excellent job at narrating in this one. Very funny!
Carl you are awesome !! Love your personality . You always seem to make me laugh even when I'm having a bad day and your voice I could listen to it all day long. Love your jokes and your sense of humor even though it's a little twisted.
LOL! Love the narration!
The Doctor career is one of my favorite. I’m sending my oldest son to college to become a doctor. So let’s see how that goes.
What a hilarious look at Sims doctoring! This made my morning 😄 thanks Carl!
The collapse patient part took me all the way out and your laugh, made me fall in love with you
I have to admit patients to their beds at least twice each time. They will just stand there and stare at my doctor or sometimes they'll even walk out of the exam room. But I guess I can't blame them, since their doctor is a vampire....
Alex from 13 reasons..... lol 😂🤣
I love my family doctor here in Canada. He always sees us 10 minutes EARLY and never makes us wait and I can see him the same day I make an appointment. And of course its free in Canada because we have universal healthcare!
The fact that none of the NPCs do their jobs is really annoying. I also wish the gameplay had a little more consistency, like people staying in the hospital until they're cured, so my sim can go home, and finish the case the next day. It works with detective, so why not here? It would also allow for more complicated cases. Being able to visit the hospital when your sim is sick would be another great thing. And maybe even doctors being able to cure their friends and family members? So many missed opportunities.
I love this kinda video. You're so great!
YAY MOAR SCUFFED CARL GAMEPLAY!!!! I'm actually super stoked for this!
"We know I'm going to cheat, so I'm not sure why it matters." "Oh crap, I broke everyone." The fetish toy! AHAHAHA How have I missed this gem for so long? As an old school AD&D player, I LOVE that you call the playable career UI the "DM". So funny!
Logic helps with faster analysis on the chemical analyzer :) Doctor career is my favorite of the 3 active. so, in reality, yes your sim only needs handiness and logic for the doctor's career.
lol! thanks, that was a funny way to cover the job and opportunities here.
"NPCs are sterile" 😂😂
Thankyou, I enjoyed this video. You had me laughing....❤️👍🏼
"Dungeon Master" only them would have such a sick mind. lol
Perfect original Sims content. Loved the laugh
A sim with a high level in the doctor career can also tell if a pregnant sim is having a boy or a girl
By far, scientist is the best career in the pack. Easily! Have you done a video for scientist yet? Did I miss it? XD
you had me laughing the whole time i was watching this one especially when you said my coworkers don’t do anything and the banquet meals lmao 😂
Yeah I didn't get a promotion for so long because I thought the more sims I took care of and the harder I work would promote me but then found that nope if you do all the things that have nothing to do with work that is how you are promoted its so weird.
Very Nice Intro! 💯
Ey that’s why you don’t get early access! 😂😂🤣🤣 your reviews are hilarious and so damn accurate. Been using your guides for years btw 👍🏾
"Hey I know how to do that that's easy!" His voice sounded so proud 😌 good boy
Your commentary is everything lol
I like that video intro, CG!
Hey thanks, just did it recently. Learning After Effects :)
@@CarlsSimGuides awesome job! Keep it up :)
You’re hilarious, Carl 😂 thanks for all the work you put in for this community! PS... have you watched the eco living trailer? Lol....
Thanks, and yeah I saw it... I'm hoping there are more little features as I can't get excited about the clean up the island in a city setting. it's not very replayable at all. SV as an experiment in narrative was OK, it just wasn't replayable. Not the type of things I expect for EPs.
I really like this type of content but only from you 💚
I think maybe the only career in get to work where your co-workers were a bit more active in task was the science career. It was my favorite because you get the freeze ray and I would always name it "Lord Freeza ."in reference to Lord Frieza from DBZ. Eventually you could make a clone machine and you could clone yourself so I would always make the clone evil lmao and eventually have the original try to take out the clone 😂 .
God I love these!! You are so hilarious! 🤣🤣
I haven't laughed this hard in a while!! The first five minutes of this video is hilarious!! 😂😂😂 Pocket banquet 😩😩😩
This was hilarious. I'm recently getting back into The Sims after years of not playing and now I'm really wondering which one of these 77 packs will really add the most to my gaming. They just all seem to be glaringly lacking in one area or another. BUT they're on sale so may as well!
OMG I can not stop smiling all the way through this ! Pocket Banquets ! Tele Health ! Kinda Flawed ? OMG !
Never clicked something so fast. You've been on a roll!
Clara Buh-jergson lmao I can't 😂
Love it! Just hysterical. :)
Thanks for the laugh! 😂😂😂
If you ever want to make the Doctor career good, you could check out Coolspear's overhaul. He also overhauled the Scientist career and Sixaam.
we need a get to work overhaul. low level doctor career needs more mundane tasks like cleaning the hospital to lower transmission risks, and more surgeries and baby deliveries for high level dr. maybe even choosing a high level career where u specialize in one of a few diff options. and owning a business needs a complete overhaul 😅idek where to begin
ALSO why cant we take our sick sims to the hospital? Talk about break immersion. i go on the computer and it magically teleports medicine to my inventory. got i hate EA
Thank's! 👍
That DLC could have been so cool, but it takes away what makes sims fun: Freeplay.
I love the D&D references!! XD
The editing is so over the top that it's actually kinda funny
I always wanted to be able to turn off the work tasks and just go about actually treating the patients and doing tasks in an intelligent and needed manner. The system was definitely most flawed in the doctor career, didn't really matter at all in the scientist career (which made the career enjoyable), and actually made sense to me in the police career. Therefore, I found both the scientist and police careers much more playable and enjoyable. I was really disappointed, because I was looking forward to the doctor career as it was my career of choice in Sims 4.
Dude, you are hilarious XD OH before I forget, you might want to trademark your new logo/animation. :D It's part of your brand, you should own it, officially. ^^
Interesting video lol... thank you!
12:00 OMW IT TOOK ME LIKE 1/2 A SECOND TO NOTICE WHAT HE MEANT 😂
First there was a blizzard outside and then a thunderstorm lol.
OMG COO COO Pebbles! LOLOL ... you are just too funny. Oh are you single?
The fact that the collapsed sim arrived wearing in a butt-showing hospital blouse. IMO, this is a scammer and now you are complicit! 😂
My goodness Sims 4 is just messed up ! Your videos are now the most fun I ever had playing the game myself!
I love the free earbuds, lol 🙃
Snort-worthy gag at 12:01 if you missed it. Carl takes it to a whole other place. Screw the doctor (ahem), the jokes are what I come here for!
After a year having this " game " I am finally doing the doctor and scientist careers right now and it is the doctor one and what a interesting experience.
OMG I am dying! SimsHiopkins hospital!
