    • If they gave them a life sentence they would have been up for parole in 14 years in most states. Very few life sentences are actually life sentences unless specifically stated “without parole,” which is what they should have received.

    • I got an MBA and recently I told my friend who got a law degree (and was a criminal defense trial attorney) that I wish I'd have gone to law school because I think I would be more fulfilled working cases. Her response was sincere: "You couldn't take all the injustice you would see." I know she's a stronger spirit than I in this regard. Justice and the law rarely coincide. But we must always try.

    • They stole the next 70+ years of that child's life and TOGETHER their sentences only add up to 40 years that just sick. She should be thrown under the prison for doing that to her child and be locked up for life no parolem. I got friends doing 35 years for meth trafficking first time ever arrested.... injustice is an understatement

    • @@danepatterson8107 Yeah this is totally true. I'm an archaeologist and I dropped out of law school because I realized I was just making a huge financial mistake and all my professors and advisors displaying their envy at what I'd accomplished in 28 years, that I would rather dig holes in the dirt than through my client's pockets. Every time on KZhead comments people just completely fail to realize laws, ethics and morality are all entirely different things. Most people don't realize either that 95% of all legal work and professionalism is because of an understanding of jargon and historical case law which is hardly anything because at my job I have to do every legal and court system imaginable and then some on top of every other aspect of humanity and life. American law is just kind of boring. Anyways I wish more people weren't so stupid though so they understood what they were looking at instead of just having tantrums about what they don't understand. The easiest thing anyone can do is teach themselves.

    • What you have to remember is that the sentence is supposed to rehabilitate the person so that they can rejoin society, rather than purely be a punishment; otherwise we would not have gone away from the Eye for an Eye justice system. I am not saying that it actually accomplishes the goal of rehabilitation, but that is the idea.

  • She abandoned her 4 year old son in the woods and ran him over while he was trying to get back into the car, took his corpse home and left him in a spare room before driving to hurl his tiny body off a bridge and be lost to the water forevermore and she only got 21 years?? The media was interviewing the janitor at school and she said what a good boy he was and that if his mom didn’t want him, she would’ve gladly raised him. • People like me would love to have a child of their own no matter how many and then there are people like her. Shouldn't let people have kids unless they can prove they love an animal. It takes patience to be a loving parent.

  • I watched this case before. The boyfriend was not with her when she went. All 3 kid were out of the car and she floored it. That’s when James was killed. She took his dead body home put him on the living room floor. The bf put him upstairs for 2 days then they both took his body and dumped it over a bridge. The one thing you had right was his body was never found. Rip James❤

  • I wouldn’t believe this woman if she said that water was wet! She is a horrible excuse of a woman and Mother. Dear God, I am so sick of these stories like this one where these despicable women hook up with “boyfriends”, and their kids pay the ultimate price like poor little James. I mean I just shudder every time I think of this little boy being left behind, and then falling and being run over. If there is ANY truth to this story. I mean imagine his little heart breaking as he realized his Mother was leaving him on the side of the road on a cold, wet, rainy night.

  • So sad. That poor baby didn’t deserve any of that 😢 The fact that they waited most of the night to call the police because he was “missing”. I panic if I can’t find my nieces or nephews after calling for them when babysitting. I don’t go more than 20 minutes without setting my eyes on them. (Time depending on age of course). So to go hours without alerting the police…. So saddening.

    • Even if true, imagine this poor buy being kicked out of the car in a cold dark forest, desperately trying to get back into the car before they drove off, leaving him all alone and scared, just to end up being run over by the car, and having to spend his last living moments on the ground in that cold dark forest while his life ebbed out. Even when they drove him to the forest to "dispose" of him, the kid tried to get back into the car with these people that obviously did not love him at all. Heartbreaking

  • 21 years for her, 19 for the boyfriend, for killing a child, hiding and then disposing of his body? And the original plan was to get rid of all the kids! They each should have been given the total of the life expectancy of this poor child. Life expectancy is currently 79 years, he was 6, they both should have gotten 73 years, no possibility of parole. Hope they meed up with some of that good old prison justice.
