  • This video hit home. Doc sounded like my grandpa irl and had a very similar personality to him and as a result I really felt connected to his character as a kid and now as a young adult. As a 23 year old this still hits the same soft spot in my spirit as it did when I was 6 in 2006. This video is beautiful, it provides a very large amount of information on the guy, and made me feel like I was a little kid again. Very beautifully done. I hope for Halloween pixar brings the ghost of doc back to possess another dead hornet in a scrapyard to race all of his other phantom buddies at the abandoned moonshine trails that started it all. Thanks for this video Ned.

  • Something interesting about nascar stock cars of the 1950's through the 1966 is that the only real rule limiting them on engine specifications was what was in the catalog and yes that includes the police equipment which alot of teams would use to get more power and reliability out of their motors so doc 175 instead of the OEM 145 makes sense

  • My theory on his Doc's death: I'm leaning towards old age and engine failure. Doc has lived 55 years and basically a living relic of racing. With his accident that crushed him and his career, the past may have caught up with him even though he was rebuilt and he tried improving himself to get back in tip top shape. Then the engine failure theory. An engine block is pretty much considered as the heart of every automobile, gas/diesel is their food, oil is their vitamins, and water for keeping temperature. With Rod Redline stating "I can replace an engine block" means more like a heart transplant. Rod is a newer model vehicle compared to Doc so he can get newer parts that is compatible with his model. On Doc's case, parts for his entire engine block would've been a lot harder to find, let alone replacing the entire engine block.

    • How then Lizzy is alive still? she's much older

      @vladvulcan@vladvulcan5 ай бұрын
    • @vladvulcan much like in real life, model Ts (Lizzy) are still alive and kicking despite the age. There have been over 15 million Model Ts built, so parts are easier to come by. Unfortunately for IRL Hudsons, there were not a lot of units built, so parts will be a lot more difficult to find. Because the Hudson Hornet is a rare car, the parts are just not there anymore, which can also explain why lore Doc died in Cars 3, but Lizzy is still there. The real reason Doc died was obviously because Paul Newman died in 08. As far as keeping old cars alive, the longer they last, the harder it is to keep them going.

  • There was a deleted scene in Cars 3 where sterling removed McQueen's license on the number 95 and gave it to Cruz after his number stats started coming back, because the suit that McQueen was wearing had a stat tracker, and Cruz was wearing the same. In that same deleted scene, we see that Smokey ang Tex actually knew each other for a while. In that scene McQueen was able to race under the sponsor Dinoco and using Hudson's Paint job (Actually the same one used in the final scene in cars 3) with a number 51 on McQueen's number. Unknown if he won the race though as thats where the cutscene ended

As well as taking it for a lap at Irwindale when we got it up and going after sitting for 24 years. Just an all around nice man. • 9:20 and 15:17 Doc Hudson tried to convince Sally that the Racing rookie should not fix the Town’s Road, but she wouldn’t listen until the towns-folks learned the truth that Montgomery “Lightning” McQueen was a Racing Rookie for the Piston Cup Series

  • It's reupload from old clip on this channel but it is extended and contains so many facts! Great effort! I wonder what are the sources of comicbook and these pictures when Hudson travels to Radiator Springs. If we ever get a movie about Doc Hudson I would be so happy! Probably it won't happen because of Paul Newman's death but even with a new voiceactor it would be amazing.

  • One engine failure could be possible, especially if it was a bad enough one. Though, with Doc being Doc, I doubt it would be that. He wouldn’t push himself to mechanical failure unless it was something like an oil line bursting and causing a sudden oil pressure loss and possibly a fire.
