Most people don't understand that gliders don't just glide down. They easily climb in rising air currents with their long and thin wings. Being able to climb allows gliders to travel many hundreds of miles/kilometers in a single flight. This video is an example of a glider riding uprising air and going up well over 1,000 feet per minute. That is a climb rate faster than what most small airplanes can achieve. This is the last part of a 750km record glider flight with amazing skies and a very fun and easy final glide with not a worry in the world. The glider is an ASW27 and the airport I am landing at is Nephi, Utah. I will be making a video of this entire flight that will be like watching Dances with Wolves movie twice if you are crazy enough to watch the whole thing. This was my first flight back in the glider after an unwanted vacation away from gliding so it made this flight even more special. Thanks as always for watching and for all your comments and support! Bruno - B4
Hi Bruno! Great to see you uploading again! :)
This is very nice to see. But about five hours too short, and six months late. Nice to see you back again.
Don't worry - this is part of a 6 hour monster video that will be coming out soon. Cheers!
As a beginner glider pilot, I’m impressed with your light touch on the controls.
Good to see you flying again! And that was quite a ride, thanks for sharing it.
Bruno, you really know how to make those of us flying in the north-east part of the continent jealous! Hey, I'd be ecstatic with a 6kt thermal! Thanks for sharing. ... anticipation for spring is building ... :-)
Glad you're back 👍!!
Nice to have you back! I always enjoy imagining I am in a glider with the sight picture of your videos!
Awesome Thermal! Thanks Bruno!
So glad you are back. Wow, 2 videos too. I'm impressed that the 750km flight was not only achieved, but that you did it this time of the year!
Fun short video... Looks like sooooo much fun!!!
Nice to watch Your videos again, enjoyed the great thermal! No gliding around here until april sometime, bad case of withdrawal syndrome...
Good to see your video again.
Nice to see your videos again Bruno ! Don't forget, a nice Arcus 2 and AS33 are waiting for you in Belgium ! A little video from you in our belgian airspace would be a sure hit !
I would like to try your AS33 if you allow! 😁
@@pilot_Julius30 you can but not for free as it is a renting business and 4 days minimum ! 😊
That was a phenomenal thermal. Nice.
Spectacular 😎
Been waiting for this for ages :)
Awe inspiring !!!
Thanks for the ride Bruno!
Thanks for coming along my friend!
*slaps veins* I need my fix! I need my fiiiiix! 😂 Ope! Bruno just posted! Ahhh 😜🤣 You guys are so darn lucky with the weather you get to enjoy. Take it to its fullest, Bruno! Enjoy that stuff man. I can't wait to come out and soar with you.
Thanks for watching and I can't wait for you to come soar with us as well! :)
Amazing both of your new vids boy that’s the place to go gliding I’m jealous 👍
I've got a cloud street from this flight to still show you in another short vid. Will blow your mind. Thanks for watching and for the good vibes.
Many better places in the world......plus you don't have to deal with the Mormons... :-) p.s. nobody from the western USA has ever won a world championship in soaring - strong conditions do not produce good glider pilots...........
Woow...very good video 👍👍
Wow amazing view
Magic
nice climb!
Go Bruno. Look at all the Spice! But watch out for the sand-worms!!
Another one, yeah... thanks a lot
I really needed this today as it's like only 15 degrees here today and my driveway is a sheet of ice.
Let me make your day worse - Greg's beach now has an almost invisible barbed wire fence running through the middle of it. We found out the hard way... Luckily nobody hurt but a Grob is looking for a new wing.
@@BrunoVassel that's very sad to hear. The Chicago Boys are going to be there late June for a few weeks FYI.
That was a screamer!!😃
The weather is too good in Utah. It's almost as good as on Condor. ;) I've got to give up a European summer one year and come home and fly out of Nephi.
we want longer videos!
Is your glider a two seater, cuz I can really use a new best friend! 😂🤣
do you play flight sim 2020? If so, show us your setup!
Holy moly, even with a very conservative L/D of 25, you’ve got over 70 nmi of range down to sea level elevation. Assuming the ground is at 5000 ft MSL, you still can glide over 50 miles. Flying in its purest form. This makes me want to get cross country glider training. I got bored flying around the flagpole in rentals, went for my airplane rating and haven’t come back.
My neighbour has a Mig 21 and it is not demilitarised. I kid you not.
U should upload more
I gotta move to Utah, it's coverd in snow here right now.
so's Utah
Bruno Maud’DiB, ‘The one who points the way’!
Haha - took me a second. I have never seen the name written down. Love that movie! thanks for watching.
What is your max altitude (with and without oxygen)?
I am amazed that at 17,500ft those clouds are still higher, they don’t look like typical altostratus.
altostratus can go up to 23000 in temperate regions, right?
Where is the fire button?
I just saw a glider that literally had a jet engine fold out of the top!
Sounds more like a jet to me than a glider... ;) haha
You've been in Jimmy's World...haven't you? 🙂
@@daxdadog yep. That's where I saw it. Pretty cool.
Yes this is now a frequent feature on last generation gliders.
The record for the longest glider video of one flight which I know of is held by Devis la Fre‘ at 06:31h. Will you top it?
Not if he broke the record :-) But maybe it was low hanging fruit........
Did someone say Dune?
*condor
That new camera stabilization is enough for me to unsubscribe. Bye.
I love it
I'm with you, and the resolution is pretty poor as well.
Bruno probably has the newer goPro that tracks the horizon to keep it steady. In fact, this is more realistic as it catches the rocking of the glider. The air is really unstable, else there would be no strong lift.
