  • I have built several speaker enclosures. I use JBL components, many wood screws, much internal bracing, and Baltic birch plywood. The results are staggering to say the least. You re-coned your woofer(something I don't know how to do)made your own amp(again, I can't do)and crafted a decent cabinet, with what appears to be a good design. Bravo, my hat is off to you.

  • you still should have wrapped the unit's wires in foam. But put a gasket between the diffuser and the column - because air will pass there

    • Try using your ear buds to enhance the sound. On woofer 15 inch and bigger the sound of bass can hear but feel the bass more on low frequency of bass moving a lot of air. Hope this helps you sir.

  • Excellent use of the shims to keep friction down around the coil. Weight is your best friend! Use a little on the dust cap and use clamps around the surround to get a good seal. Could have used a beefier motor if you had one but I guess this one works for your application. Great job in all. Excellent craftsmanship!

  • I made a cab like this for my 18" EMINENCE Woofer but used 100% birchwood plywood. That MDF will fail and fall apart after a few years because of weather changes.

  • Er haette das kleine Boexchen wo die Weiche drin ist, erst mit Alu.folie umziehe,dann mit 2,5 mm starker Bleifolie auskleiden sollen und dann das Ganze mit Leder ueberziehen. Resonanzen der Infrarotstrahlung werden mit der Alufolieabgehalten. Mechanische Frequenzungsstoerungen werden durch das Blei illeminiert und das Leder schuetzt vor Raumreflexionen. So habe ich es zuhause gemacht und dss Ergebnis war sehr gut und klar hoerbar.
