    • Please tell me that y’all aren’t serious. You know that doe’s tell their fawns to hide and she runs away hoping for the predators to follow her. Fawns have no scent and excellent camouflage so are much safer hiding than with her. The best thing you can do is look, and leave them alone. If you are concerned they’ve been abandoned, come back every day for three days. Doe’s will look for their fawns for three days, if the fawns are still hiding after three days, they are abandoned. Odds are in this case the doe heard the truck, gave her fawns the hide signal and bolted.

    • leverets (young hares) do the same as well. They stay in a hollow and wait for the doe to come suckle them. The doe leaves them again immediately after feeding, which might seem uncaring, but is in fact for protection. It's to minimise scent round the offspring that might attract predators.

I don't like a gold rush, gold rush I don't like anticipating my face in a red flush I don't like that anyone would die to feel your touch Everybody wants you Everybody wonders what it would be like to love you Walk past, quick brush I don't like slow motion double vision in rose blush I don't like that falling feels like flying until the bone crush Everybody wants you But I don't like a gold rush What must it be like To grow up that beautiful? With your hair falling into place like dominoes My mind turns your life into folklore I can't dare to dream about you anymore At dinner parties Won't call you out on your contrarian things And the coastal town We never found will never See a love as pure as it Cause it fades into the gray of my day old tea Cause it will never be Gleaming, Twinkling Eyes like sinking Ships on waters so inviting, I almost jump in.

  • We found a new-born fawn next to the spigot at side of our house in spring of 2023, it was late morning. Baby fawn sooo frail - couldn't walk, she just lay there curled up against the foundation. My wife was startled by the little fawn when she went to unwind the water hose for the burn pile. So, what did we do? We went about our day - yard work, cleaning the yard raking burn pile etc. We kept an eye on her, but we stayed clear and NO touching. Mama showed up around mid afternoon - and fetched her little baby ... she got up immediately wobbled over to mama and the feeding began. These two still come by almost daily - they are doing very well.

    • @Grannvale Flame Emperor would it really be as happy as it would when living in the wild close to it's mother? It's very selfish for humans to claim wild animals as "their's".

      @User-oq9hc@User-oq9hc3 жыл бұрын
    • @Aye_Aye _Atlantic Either way I believe it's better that wild animals are free , most people don't own big houses or have gardens so it's somewhat prisoning. I have no problem if they let the animals run and get the chance to feel free. Most animals are not meant to live in a house. They will be much safer in a home and definitely live for much longer but they have wild instincts. It's better for you to visit them often rather than living with them in the same house. Just an opinion I don't mean to offend anyone ^^

  • So, for anyone who's confused: baby deer get left alone by their mothers all the time. Their coat is built to blend in, so it's the mother's job to make sure they're in a safe place before going off to forage or whatever they do, then they come back. The fawns do not have instincts to run, because they have to stay in one place so the mother can find them.

    @deeplyjuniper8041@deeplyjuniper80412 жыл бұрын
    • but isn't a road like the least safest place. Now I understand a deer mother doesn't probably understand how dangerous a road is. But just looking at the road you can clearly see the bambies are not camouflaged at all. So alone that gives me the obvious vibes of 'this is not a good place to leave my babies.' She probably did do that for the reason you are telling us. But I am concerned about what this mum sees as save and not save. One bear or wolf on that road and they would have been dead.

    @nicolexo1655@nicolexo1655 Жыл бұрын
    • Not that docile--they will get so excited, even violent if they sense anything, whether threatening or just a surprise or unknown. Their antlers grow back every year and can kill. Their hooves can kill as well. We have deer in my neighborhood--if they are visiting, I stay inside until they leave. They can kick a dog, or but anyone or anything with antlers. Love them without imputing Bambi to them. They need their ferocity to survive. But yes, they seem so sweet and do not pick fights or prey on others. A nice example. I let them eat anything in my garden. Never poison or use artificial crap on the plants so they are safe. They sleep under my trees sometimes--I find everything squashed 😴🤫😉 But I take care not to let them feel cornered. I find them right up on the porch when they think I'm not there or asleep. Open my door right into them sometimes!--I close it to let them get away safely before I go out. But they seem to feel at home when I'm inside or gone. They nibble everything the books say they don't, like hardy geraniums... I have a big bird feeder, maybe that makes them feel like animals own this house?

I accidentally rode too far on the edge, and fell off my bike. It was a little bit of a fall, just behind some bushes. But I was eye-to-eye with a fawn. The poor thing looked as startled as I was. It’s one of my favorite experiences with nature. I hope the fawn had a good life.

    • My experience on the forest floor was much worse--the heat got to me and I just about passed out a few hundred feet into the forest. Lay down very fast to the side of the trail (to May Lake up in Tuolemne Meadows, Yosemite's high country). I was there for about 15 min till the dizziness passed. When I got to my feet a snake slithered away.... I've been told it was a safe snake, black with green stripe(?s) the length of it...they don't bite. I scared it as much as it scared me, but I practically stripped on the trail to make sure none of its friends were along for the ride. Today it's funny but then it seemed like the worst day ever. My druggie sister had kept me waiting in the parking lot for nearly an hour in 90+ temps. Then nausea, the snake...I was waiting for a bear to be blocking the path or worse. I love your story. I cannot explain what motivated the first one to approach the man. I would imagine that is quite unnatural. Many times I have pulled over on busy highways where fawns were hanging out close to the roadway with the intent to drive them back into the woods and out of harms way. I worked over in a zoo that had breeding exotic deer over in the free roaming area and they would often have their young sit in the train tracks. Gotta stop the train and spook the baby out from the tracks. In the wild this is natural to leave them hidden near bushes and such but on the road these fawns were easy enough to spot. So him leading that one off from the road was a good thing.

When I was staying in America on a student Visa (I live in Switzerland) there was a baby dear always next to the school I went to and every day at 3rd period the Doe and the fawn would walk onto school grounds, the fawn would sit in some bushes out front, and the Doe would walk off until school was over. The Doe obviously put the children in the bushes, but the Fawns must have walked out. The Logger was very kind to lead them back into the bushes and off the road.

    • It's actually requested by most wildlife organizations that you do not "save" young animals that have been "left behind" In most cases, the parents are only making a trip out, and plan on coming back. Imagine their distress when their healthy baby suddenly goes missing without a trace?

    • Hunter Strait hunting whether that may be regulated or not, is still a psychopathic sport that is so unnecessary. meat eaters already have enough choice on the market of farm animals being processed (cows, sheeps, pigs), now those choices aren't enough to people either (how greedy), hunters got to hunt other animal species either for pure sick enjoyment of watching another animal die (i mean if we hunted human beings, made it into some kind of game, we'll just automatically go to jail) or to eat? Like there isn't already enough dead animals available to eat, people got to go out of there way to kill more lives? all so unnecessary. "old enough to fend for themselves", that's sick a gun vs. an animal with no sense of weaponry or understanding is not a fair fight.

    • Hunter Strait I'm talking about hunting as a form of sport, and btw I am a vegan so no I do not eat meat. I went to live with a family in Europe who regularly hunts for sports or either use the animals to make some type of decorative art. So yes, I know what I'm talking about otherwise I wouldn't have even commented to begin with.

    • LMAO so true, as I always say, "There...a UFO, quick grab our crappiest camera" But not so funny for the poor fawns, but at least the logger dude wasn't a giant a-hole to them, he seemed caring enough to try and get them off the side of the road. Sad how nature can be cruel in so many different ways, if they were indeed 'mom less'.
