Ja'Marr Chase Film Analysis
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase's record breaking rookie season did wonders for his offense. His connection with Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will continue to haunt defenses in 2022.

As a Bengals fan it makes me want to cry in happiness that we got Joe Burrow and Chase on our team. Years of pain finally paying off.
same
Its a unique but potent combination. Rarely do you get a young star QB paired with his star WR from college immediately at the pro level and they just perform. Probably more unique than the last QB/WR pairings the Bengals that had were Carson Palmer/Chad Ochocinco and Andy Dalton/AJ Greene.
Amen. I am counting the days till the the first game.
Congrats. You guys had a rough stretch. Not my squad or conference, but was rooting for ya hard in the SB
It could all go down bill like my cowboys
I also just want to highlight the fact that at 4:42 Minka Fitzpatrick (#39) is already signing incomplete before the ball has even reached Chase
Cocky fuck. Not at you, at Minkah.
Yah I was wondering why the corner let off the gas. Chase didn't outrun him necessarily.
With the O-line problems seemingly fixed. Cincinnati is going to be a nightmare to play against. I'm looking forward to seeing how they do in 2022, and I'm not even a Bengals fan.
Ravens gonna be that broom. Again
@@thedude-nf1uf laughable. They spilt it. The only receivers to do something for the ravens were Hollywood and Andrews and now they only got one of those
I don’t think the offensive line is as close to being fixed as people seem to think
@@nickbemo9940 Agreed. That's why I phrased it "seemingly" fixed. We still don't know how effective those changes will be. Though I do think it will be an improvement, it remains to be seen how much.
Coaching seems to be a huge issue on the offensive line too. They've got the talent now, but I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch.
This guy sounds like a younger Brett Kollman. Great analysis, clear and very deep care for looking further into the game and looking past stats to paint a clear picture, similar kind of format to him too. Going to have to binge watch all your videos because this is amazing.
Is that not Brett Kollman? I mean he sounds exactly like him, it’s insane, I thought I was losing my mind
I literally went to the comments to check cause I was thinking the same thing
Anyone who said take Sewell should not be talking Ball
best analyzing channel on yt
God this was a great breakdown after catching the Terrell and Lawrence ones. This is just great.
Two high shell coverage means Joe mixon will have room to run. Improved o line will crush that running game
Jamar chase is a future superstar 💯
Already is
Nice job, Billy. Great analysis.
Great break down and have really started to love your videos.
Great video! Quick, and lots of good information. Nice job! I subscribed.
Love the output recently Billy. You make some of the best NFL analysis on this site!
You are an awesome teacher man. I'm literally learning football like I was never able to even after being a fan since a kid. It's making sense now!!
Great job man really enjoyed this one 👍🏾
this is a really good breakdown, gets me stoked for football season!
I absolutely love this guy. He is like the football version of Baseball Bits if u watch him too. He explains things SOO well and does it in a way that doesn't bore u in 5mins.
I'll take Chase over any other wide receiver in the league right now
I love your channel. I'm surprised you haven't caught on more yet. Oh well, suscribed.
Nice breakdown. Love seeing players thrive early.
Out-of-t top 10 wide receivers in the NFL he is by far the best blocker too
Cooper Kupp exists
@@BillyStephens oh I love Cooper cup he is the best receiver in the NFL but he's not the best blocker he's a good one but chase isbetter I give chase that one
@@joeforte7829 We'll see. There is a big reason why the Rams can stay at 11 personnel even when they choose to run. If Zac Taylor believes what you do, he'll also run more 11 personnel for run plays and the run/pass game will have no problem transitioning from each other.
@@t4d0W bro just go watch his film
I love your videos man you put a lot of good effort in to them fr keep it up man eclectically love this vid more being a bengals fan
This was fantastic! Great video man. Do you think CD Lamb is ready to be the #1 receiver for the cowboys?
this vid just shows how well the bengals drafted in 2021 and it is smart to draft the college receiver of ur young qb just cuz they already have some chemistry between each other
Wow, this was great
you make great vids
This was an absolutely awesome video. In that 2020/21 season there was a big divide among Bengals fans over picking Sewell vs. picking Chase. This video is exactly what those of us who were Team Chase saw. Our vertical offense was abysmal (despite Tee and TB, both incredible receivers) and Ja’Marr is who and what we needed to be deadly
Who dey baby! Lets go!
Good take Billy. I can tell you as a Louisiana boy it was Chase who was the Alpha on that 2019 squad. I knew when people were fawning over Justin Jefferson’s rookie year stats I was thinking you all ain’t seen nothing yet!!!! Joe and Ja’Marr have a connection like I’ve never seen College or Pro.
Great vid! Can you do one on Terry McLaurin next? Love the content
I remember everybody crucifying the Bengals for getting a WR instead of OL. Its worth it if the WR was the WR1 for the QB in college. They have a rhythm.
Ja'Marr Chase vs Denzel Ward twice a year 🔥
Randy Moss still owns the most impressive rookie season. What he did for the Vikings offense is unquestionable.
Awsome. Can u do a vid on zach wilson
Dude didnt even watch the video, just clicked on it and commented about Zach Wilson LMAO
Not sure if I’ll get to him before the season starts, but he’s on the list
@@willnutcher946 I watched it after
Its fine if defenses use 2 high safety ... bengals have a 1k runner in the backfield and with that improved O line, Joe Mixon is going to eat.
quick suggestion to consider maybe changing the color of the text in your thumbnails to white. may be more eye catching and your channel is definitely at that turning point where all you need is a viewer to bite before binging on your vids. awesome channel btw
I remember the time he played the broncos and had one catch for three yards 😂 Don’t test PS2!!! All joking aside, chase is a baller. I just needed a cheap shot cause we haven’t held our hat on anything lately
Fair enough lol..don't worry tho yall will see massive improvement with Ole Russ slinging the rock 👍..hope to see yall in the POs this year!
Y’all have a sneaky elite Defense that was slept on
Love your stuff. @5:00 the pass travelled about 45 air yards, not 34.
Yeah I meant 34 from the line of scrimmage… bad wording on me. I appreciate the support though!
Love your stuff. Can you do a video on Daniel Jones 🙏
Chase like I said is the best receiver prospect I’ve ever seen aka better than Julio. He made Justin Jefferson a top 5 wr in the NFL look like a slot receiver.
Justin is better than Jamarr lol. Stop this
You’re a casual
Lolol. His composites and skillset dont match Julio. Stop.
@@DN-mm5tt nah
People think last year was a fluke. It wasn’t. Great video. Thanks.
That's my team!!!
This man can ball
Imagine people still saying Micah should have won ROTY and Mac Jones and Waddle... it blows my mind
Honestly even without jamarr I still think they would be a beast with tee Higgins and the underated tyler boyd but since they have jamarr they are uncontrolled monsters out of there cages right now like the chiefs were a few years ago and no I'm not a bengals fan saying this
He is my favorite player of all time, already. Please G-D protect Jamarr at all odds
Costs*
Chase is the reason this offense exploded! I said it draft night .....shoot I said it when he ran a 4.3 at his pro day (as he looked slower on film his sophomore year but the COVID year did wonders for him).
Cincinnati always got a elite receiver lmao
Let's see what the Bengals can do this year 💪
This sounds like Brett kollmann
i mean if the harder schedule is a big detraction to our team surely the improved o line negates or even improves that
I love how everybody thinks last year was a fluke since they went from worst team in the NFL to the SB in just a couple seasons. They've been in rebuild mode since Zac Taylor got to the Bengals. That's why he cleaned house when he came.in, that's why Dalton was benched and that's why they tanked until gettin Joe Burrow. Thing is. The Bengals have been the laughing stock of the NFL for so long. Nobody even noticed what was happening. I know I didn't. But I unlike most other people knew that Zac and company were in rebuild mode. Thing ia tho. Most people sayin Chase is and will be the best ever are just as stupid as those that were already countin him out after a few drops on one drive in the preseason lmfao. The Bengals have a good all around team. Their defense is solid and has some really good players and up and coming players as well. They have a triple threat receiving core with a 5 star back in the backfield. Everybody keeps bashing the O-line for all of Burrow's sacks but honestly. Half of those are on him from extending plays. Like he's even said. He doesn't really even count 3rd down sacks. This team last year should have won at least 3 more games. Jamar Chase id great and will continue to do great but it really helps bein on a good team that plays to your strengths.
The one pick that changed the organization forever
As a big Tua fan and a student of the game. I hope this shows to many the need of weapons that can win one-v-one is extremely important for any QB to be successful. The addition of Hill should have a similar effect as Chase to Burrow (tho Chase is more versatile and can win more in contested catch situations) The Bengals offense will have to evolve as defenses will not let chase do what he did by destroying the deep part of the field. Expect alot more man under 2 and cover 2/cloud coverage depending where he is on the field. Bengals Run game will be key to forcing teams to come out of 2 high looks and forcing defenses to give one -v-one opportunities
Teams were doing that the final half of the season after Burrow and Chase put up 525 on the Ravens. The problem is the Bengals also have Higgins and Boyd... so you double Chase, but now you have to man up on Higgins and Boyd which are both top tier receivers. Expect Mixon to have a huge breakout year now that he finally has blockers as well... And Burrow will have more than 900 milliseconds to make his throws...
@@andrewstacy3937 Agree, watched how they defended chase as I'm a fan but don't care for the Bengals. Burrow protection issues weren't horrible as people think. Burrow holds the ball and tries to extend plays he should just throw in the dirt. Higgins and Boyd aren't issues if you go into a man under 2 shell and you have half decent corners. The problem becomes Mixon. Your best bet if you have a "tweener" player who can play in the run game and cover (think Kam Chancellor) or cover 4 match (low alignment) with a shut down corner that can win 1-v-1 vs Chase (Rams game plan even tho Ramsey struggled some) Think Bengals will be good if the coaching staff isn't stubborn. But they won't be the Chiefs or anything. I would play heavy Nickel with match cover 4, cover 2 sink, man under 2. Nothing would look like the cover we run pre-snap until maybe the 3rd when you think I'm giving you different post snap-reads. Bengals would have to run me out those coverages which is that happens I'm heating up that pocket and bringing pressure with zero blitz and dropping one defender into playing lanes depending on the slide protection of your Oline.
@@mroverdose14 you're saying "they won't be the Chiefs" but in the offseason the Chiefs lost their #1 WR. I just don't really see why the Bengals couldn't "be the chiefs" on paper. You could probably apply your same logic to any other team.
@@andrewstacy3937 part of the issue that made the chiefs so problematic was teams didn't have film on their offense with a young QB. Most defenses try to heat up young QBs (Hill ate them alive for Manning him up) they had the best TE in football that was a match up issue and have the advantage when you decided to run. Damned if you do damned if you don't. Teams adjusted with more zone and giving away underneath yardage 70% of the game. Mahomes for all his ability gets greedy and you can get him that way. Bengals were by far extremely stubborn in play calling and burrow is extremely greedy as well. They won't have the personnel grouping mismatch with Travis Kelce and coming out in a 11 personnel doesn't give you the advantage and can definitely be defended with nickel or dime with a 2 high shell. Their run game would have to force defenses to come out of that. Teams like Miami defense which is a heavy man and cover 3 match would look like a team they could succeed against (tho Miami personnel makes that scheme hard to beat) In summary Travis Kelce is the missing link and having a run game that is multiple and can work in passing formations would be key. Bengals also don't have the coaching staff as they barely adjusted anything and the defense is the reason they had the success they had.
Zach Wilson episode before the season?
This season people are gonna give more cushion. Guaranteed mucho YAC for Chase
Yo Billy, just a personal request my g.. can u break down how Mcvay/LA went from THIS terrible SB Loss, w/ their Off havin been "EXPOSED"/"Figured out" by the NFL.. to then winnin the 🏆 in 2021-2022..? What tweaks/changes did Mcvay make to help his offense get back on the right track..? (Other than the obvious answer being the QB position) Maybe showin, in which ways did swapping #16 for #9 allow Mcvay to expand & utilize LAs arsenal..?
Javonte williams would be a insane video
when i first started listening i thought it was brett kollmann on a different acct lol
burrows work with jordan palmer completely transformed his deep bAll tho
AAAAH
So the real question now... Chase or Jefferson for fantasy?
Alternate Title: how Chase took the Bengals to the Super Bowl.
AJ green use to be able to beat most CBs deep but after all the injuries he has lost a step plus he use to just out jump most CBs and so didn't really need to beat them deep all the time if he was one on one it was basically a given he was coming down with the ball if it was placed high enough.
He’s got tyreek hill speed. What was his 40 time? Did he run anything timed?
Not quite that fast but still way faster than most WRs/DBs
Ain't gonna lie that's some good stats u put up on this vid. Very good info. However, chase didn't completely fix the Bengals offense. Burrow and higgins should get just as much credit. In 2020 higgins was a rookie and he made a jump going into year 2. Also when u have 3 very good receivers it's hard for defenses to cover everyone. Not taking anything away from chase he's fn awesome but he does have the luxury of having 2 other really good receivers on the field at the same time. Despite how talented burrow is its no surprise that he struggled in his rookie season like almost all qbs. Great vid though nevertheless.
Compare Jalen Ramseys and Richard Sherman’s first 6 hrs
The film I have access to only goes back a few years
Theres another kid named Higgins on the other side. He only put up 2 thousand yard seasons in his first 3, and caught both Burrow TDs in the Super Bowl. You are right though, Chase fixed everything. Not Joe, or Tee, or all the guys who provided a lift for them.
Burrow only threw 1 TD in the superbowl
@@chrisgeyer4002 true. My oversight, the RB tossed one of those. Good call.
Bengals offense will be highly coveted in fantasy football next season
Is this not just Brett kollmann?
So many of these throws feel like luck. I know there's always a luck factor but man, either luck or pinpoint accuracy knowing what each other is thinking
Would definitely say a lil of both, but Jamarr and Burrow have so much chemistry and Burrow is one of the most accurate qbs in the league. I feel like it’s more chemistry than luck, but there is definitely a lil bit of luck in everything
Go watch them in college they were doing it weekly. They just have a really special connection that will make them dangerous for years to come
Haha luck. Are you stoned?
Just get Burrow a competent O-line. From the run game to off script passes, the Bengals will be a problem for any defense.
Is this Brett kollman lmao?
Why bro voice sound like Brett kollman lol
I'll take chase over any receiver in the NFL right now not named Adam's.
So long story short Chase made Burrow and he’s basically below average without him? Noted
Saints content PLEASE
Mean while madden... Jamar is the 23 best receiver. He is worst then Adem Thelind
Chase is insane but best rookie season EVER at ANY position? That’s a little nuts in my opinion
