Hey everyone, re: the music. Here's how it is: I didn't know better. I'm not a huge comics fan, I'm a biography fan. I like interesting people, with interesting lives, and I bring them to you on this channel. Anyone saying that I did this as some sort of purposeful act or a joke, you're being silly. Not only would that be disrespectful, it would just be pretty dumb from a creative perspective. - Simon
No need to apologies. I thought it was funny. You always have such interesting content. I think you did an awesome job as always. Thank you!!
You didnt know any better simple as that . People who want to complain upon seeing your response arent worth replying too . If you didnt care you would say nothing so ofc you get a pass from me . Keep up the good work man .
I admit, Superman theme seems appropriate though.
I just don’t get why even though your videos are great they always suffer from some gaping lack of information or some glaring incorrection. I still think you largely do good work though so keep that up!
Meh. A blasphemy sure but hardly the Holocaust. There maybe redemption for you in time.
I really hope they keep giving him cameos. Not some shit CGI, not a look alike. A portrait here, a picture there, something subtle and respectful.
One of the greatest moments of my life was meeting Stan when auditioning for "Who wants to be a superhero" There are those how say "Never meet your heros" however, they never met Stan Lee, he was the most gregarious, kind and genuine person I've ever had the privilege to meet and there's not a day that goes by where we don't miss him.
Stan Lee is not dead, not really. He will live forever in the hearts of millions of people, the hearts of those who truly believe in heroes. Rest in peace Stan, we will always remember you.
He is just making a cameo in heaven
Duh. No, he’s dead.
Nobody stays dead in comics, he'll be back in a couple of weeks.
@@InquisitorThomas its deadpool playing Stan
@Inquisitor Thomas We just need to contact Mephisto.
Great video as always!!!! Superman theme?
Right? Why the Superman theme?
Maybe spideys was copyright protected
I noticed that too... But I'm never gonna complain about John Williams.
No way, Spider-Man theme is usable! Charlie over at EmergencyAwesome uses it for marvel related videos, as an outro but still relevant
Because Stan lee was a super man!
I don't care - Stan the Man WAS a Superman to many. It was a good tribute, and I'm glad you did it. Thank you.
While I was watching this video, I realized that his wife Joan deserves a medal for getting him to stay in comics. They were married for over 70 years and she stood by her man. I think she deserves credit for sticking with him.
How wholesome is that story of him meeting his wife. It’s the exact kind of story I’d imagine for a man like him
Do Jack Kirby as well
exactly
Absolutely. Stan Lee wouldn’t be what he is without the genius of jack Kirby (and even ditko)
@@themanwithnoname5325 not to mention Don Heck and Larry Lieber
The screen could never be big enough to fit Jack Kirby's massive balls.
Im happy you did Stan Lee's Bio. Thank you for the great work!
RIP Stan Lee. 🙏

Rest in Peace to Stan Lee. Condolence to his beloved family, friends and fans. His legacy will continue to live on.
Stan Lee is everybody's hero. He's my hero, too.
There's an Eric Roberts movie called The Ambulance where Stan Lee played himself as the hero's boss at Marvel, it wasn't even a cameo it was part of the plot. Weird stuff
One of James Earl Jones's oddest roles.
He was super cool and he actually communicated a lot with his fans through the comics; he and the team would write small sections on the final pages of the comic talking about letters they got, how the business was going, etc. Marvel did a lot of small things for customers that would become the standard in the industry. Honestly it always pain me the story of the marvel animation studio and how they tainted all the work of Stan and his team.
Stan Lee's characters will live forever and continue to Honour his works and Marvel's comic books.
Stan Lee should be recognized as an American icon.. his work inspired so many generations… Think of the tv shows, movies, books and comic books we’ve enjoyed because what he did inspired someone else’s creativity… I hope someday he’ll be memorialized just as Dr. Seuss has been.. Thank you, Stan!
I remember reading the first Silver Surfer edition when it came out. I loved Marvel Comics then and I love them now. They made superheroes not just heroes but flawed individuals trying to not only understand themselves, but the world around them. Also, they brought diversity and strength to people of color in comics where none had existed. So thank you Jack Kirby and others, but most notably, Stan Lee, whom with his passing has made the world a little more sadder. Rest in Peace Stan the Man.
When you think superhero, the Superman theme plays in your head. Stan Lee is the embodiment of the Superman theme. Thank you for this video. Excelsior!
Wally Wood is quoted to have said, "Stan Lee's only contribution to comics was to have the artist write, as well as, draw the comic, and, then write his name bigger than Hell on it." This was the "Marvel Method." Jack Kirby didn't create the Golden-age character the Human Torch. That character was created by Carl Burgos. However, the Fantastic Four (w/ the Silver-age H. Torch) was just a reworking of Jack Kirby's DC adventure team, The Challengers of the Unknown. Anyone looking at the early issues of both titles can tell by analyzing the layout of the pages, the flavor or style of the stories and even the personalities of the characters that one was just a copy of the other. More importantly, you can tell the later was created by the same person who did the former.
I remember picking up a Spider-Man Encyclopedia in Islamabad more than a decade ago. I was already fond of Spidey but boy did that book make me fall in love with the hero! The best part were the opening two pages where Stan Lee talked about his inspiration behind the creation of one of the world's most popular superheroes. I really liked how he used real-life places to base the hero in, such as New York. The co-creator of Marvel comics was born into a lower-middle class family, Stan's first dream was to write the Great American Novel, but after working as a journalist, he started envisioning something more spectacular. I remember reading in the Spider-Man Encyclopedia that his wife Joan Lee (who passed away in 2017) told him to write what he wants to write when he wasn't able to create a character on the same terms of contemporary heroes like Batman and Superman. He based Spider-Man's alter ego Peter Parker partly on himself; a photographer working for a newspaper. Spider-Man also differed from other mainstream superheroes like Batman (a millionaire) and Superman (an alien) in the sense that Peter Parker was your average Joe. And reading about his crusades was a more down-to-earn experience than going through the adventures of his counterparts at DC Comics. The 21st century saw Lee's creations for Marvel not only reach the big screen but also break world records both critically and commercially. The Marvel movie franchise is one of the most successful right now. Though Lee wasn't the only writer that contributed to Marvel's success, it's safe to say that without him, the company wouldn't be where it is today. Besides Spider-Man, Lee is known for creating/co-creating The Incredible Hulk, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, and many others. He will always remain one of the main influences behind me picking up the pen to write stories. I used to draw comics when I was 10 years old inspired by Spider-Man and X-Men. Man those were grand times! Stan Lee has passed away at the age of 95 on November 12, 2018. But his legacy will live on forever. RIP Legend.
Steve Ditko based Spider-Man off himself and was the main influence on Spider-Man.
Glad you all did this amazing man
EXCELSIOR!!!
I wish I knew more about Stan Lee.
Thank you for creating this video.
Stan Lee was a beautiful human being. He taught people to love and think for themselves. He taught against bigotry. He was ahead of his time and will be greatly missed.
Very well done Simon. Yes, the music was off, but the message was still delivered and felt. Great job on this one.
How much happiness can one man bring to people of different ages I'm 56 my daughter is 14 and we sit and watch super hero movies together eating rubbish but having the best time together..thank you Mr stan Lee. A excellent choice of of subject I might add tooo.
I'd love to see a show on Dr. Seuss. Adore your show, Simon!
That would be brilliant
Agreed!
I love these quick bios. I’m not a comic book fan or even a super hero movie fan, but this was a great one. Good job.
Thank you at Biographics for this profile of one of the most creative people I’ve ever known. My hats off to you Simon and your team at Biographics
I really enjoyed that . Comic books have played such a pivotal role in my life. Thanks for making such a great and timely Bio of this great man
Keep up the good work Simon. It’s good to see yous guys channels grow and to see and watch you grow with them. Loving the more dresses up style you are trying to achieve not that my or anyone’s opinion matters. You are after all human and we all make mistakes. Just keep on being you and don’t stress over the nit pickers😊
Playing superman music?? Is that a joke 🤔
I thought the same thing.
Every time it plays it takes me out of it. I do understand it is the most recognizable superhero theme but still.
I guess I am not alone in noticing the music
Now this does put a smile on my face
My thoughts exactly.
Freaking awesome.. Again. Just the shear depths that you go into each persons back story is amazing.. Great work
Excellent video Simon👍
Why use the theme to Superman?
Shawn Horsley oversight
An ironic tribute
Cause ur mom
It's kinda fitting for a comic book legend who grew during that time.
@@itsblitz4437 Superman wasn't created by him are even marvel for that matter.
Amazing!!! As always!
Awesome so happy you did this one. RIP Stan Lee! I can’t believe it’s been a week since he died 😔 He will be missed but never forgotten!
It's nice to hear someone you admire was actually a good person who is worthy of admiration.
You’re really making all the videos today Simon!
Congrats on 300k!!!
I like your videos, but you let a couple of careless errors slip by on this one. One: After WWII, Timely Comics was re-christened Atlas Comics; it was only with the creation of the Fantastic Four in 1961 did Atlas become Marvel. Second, Stan was not the sole creator of Marvel's characters; he always worked with various co-creators such as Jack Kirby (FF, Avengers, X-Men, et al) and Steve Ditko (Spider-Man). Creator credit is a very sensitive subject in the field and calling Stan "creator" rather than "co-creator" is a major faux pas. Other than some additional minor chronology errors, you mostly got the rest correct.
@Analyzing Male Slavery Small careless mistakes as a rule, but bothersome to those who know the material.
You forgot his mistakes about the Comics Code Authority, which did not disappear from Marvel comics until 2001
I don't know which chronological errors you mean in this specific case but what I find extremely hard to get along with in Biographics is there permanently chronological back and forth in ALL of their clips!
@@Kitsunekun2 also the fantastic four had the seal since #1 it was Spiderman in the early seventies that was printed without it on 3 issues.
Well, another blatant one that was missed was the fact Marvel didn't get to keep all of the rights; hence why they still do not have X-Men and Spider Man, and had to wait and buy back on FF and others.
I really like what you're doing and thanks for explaining things for those of us across the pond.
One of the best biographies up to date. The respect and love is apparent keep up the good work. Do Chekhov or Stanislavski next 😉🎭
I Enjoy All your videos & this one was especially Great because of the subject. Keep up the a Good Work 👍🏼
Thank you so much for making this biographic video of this legendary comic book genius, legend, and icon. Excelsior forever.
Thank you for uploading this. I was gonna ask this channel to do a bio on Stan Lee. Can y'all do one with Steve Dikto and Jack Kirby?
Thanx for the very informative video. Stan will forever live within his creations...
Respect for not monetizing the video Simon!
Stan Lee was more than just a man, he was a rare breed of man, he was the man you could walk up to and ask, "Hey, if you got a few minutes, tell me a story" and if he obliges, you're in for the story of a lifetime, he was the uncle, father, or grandfather everyone wanted to tell them a bedtime story and would leave you wanting more every night when he shut your light off, in my opinion, Stan Lee was in no ones league when it came to comic book storytelling, CAUSE NO ONE COULD COME CLOSE TO EVEN HOPING TO BEING IN HIS GODLY LEAGUE OF IMAGINATION, he was my favorite comic book writer and no one was better than him at writing and telling stories, Rest in Peace Mr. Stan Lee, God is your comic book subscriber now.
May he rest in peace
Do jack Kirby next please RIP Stan Lee.
I was never a big fan of marvel comics but I recognize the power of what Stan Lee did! Rest in peace my good sir ! PS. EXCELSIOR!!!
Stan Lee will be missed. But his legacy lives on in his comics and he is immortalized in cinema. Rest In Peace Stan Lee. And thank you for great stories and great heroes. You were an American treasure. You came along when people needed to have something to escape the dreaded reality of life. You created heroes that a lot of us idolized and we are all grateful for this.
respect for this video
Thank you!
No words.... Fantastic as usual....
Stan Lee, with superman music. from a creativity aspect, i'd say that playing in the background during a vid about him was highly appropriate. i grew up with those comics, from the '50s on. marvelous presentation!
Excellent episode of Biographics, Simon. It was quite touching, many thanks. So Stan based Spiderman on his own teenage years. I see a parallel of his relationship with his wife with Steve Rogers and Peggy, especially in Endgame.
The plot and art were by Steve Ditko, who based Spider-Man off himself and gave Spider-Man most of the qualities and details associated with him.
I was really waiting for this haha
Really touch by the video Simon my Stan found peace up there =(
Thank you Simon. Ironically clever to play the Superman Movie theme throughout this video. I had the pleasure of seeing Stan Lee at the 2011 San Diego Comic Con. He was doing a panel at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront. He was introducing a new character named Red Dragon, inspired by a Japanese rock musician.
In your asking for recommendations post from earlier in the week I posted today you should do one in honor of Stan Lee and his passing, it's like you're actually were on the page as I was. Great video I enjoyed this one just as much as I enjoy most of the videos you guys do. I just have one critique you were using the Superman theme and he's a DC character instead of finding a theme from one of the Marvel movies to use.
With KZhead being limited as to how much the channels can cram into such a short time, I have a suggestion. For a Christmas gift, I received a magnificent coffee table book detailing the full history of Marvel comics. Thanks for a fitting tribute to a man whose work has captivated so many of us for so long.
Love your channel:)
Jack Kirby video would be awesome. Love the content you put out.
Please do a video on Kaiser Wilhelm II, Franz Ferdinand, or Czar Nicholas II!

By all iv heard and seen he was a great man I’m sad i never got to meet him. I hope marvel keeps doing his cameos. As a way to honour him. They can make very realistic cg characters.
Awesome. Was hoping you would do one on him.
Oh the irony of using the Superman theme for a Stan Lee Bio. I still loved every second of it though. Stan Lee and Marvel was major influences on who I am today. Excelsior! R.I.P. Mr. Lee they'll never be another like you.
Co created , the word is CO creator , Spiderman was Steve Ditko and Lee , Hulk was Kirby and lee .
Miss Stan Lee. Helped me get through my turbulent high school years.
I love these videos
You guys outdid yourselfs with this video. Great way to honor him. Teared up a little at the end. RIP Stan Lee
I was watching an episode of "The Big Bang Theory" which had a cameo of Stan Lee. I asked my brother who is Stan Lee, he said are you serious? Then I got an instructional history of comic books. A legend I'd never even heard about.
Do Bernard Montgomery, the infamous general of the Desert Rats.
Also. Thank you. A very beautiful tribute
Thank you for doing a video on Stan Lee. It was a great video! I don't get caught up on the music that was used. It's just an aesthetic for the video. I appreciate the content of the video. Isn't that what a ton of people asked for?? If they are so hung up on the music, go watch MTV.
love the videos my friend ! but 8:28 killed me hahaha that's superman theme music !
Jesus, how many people need to bring up the music?? Settle down, people, I don't think Stan would have cared that much. :/ Simon, once again, well done! Good form, Sir. :)
Personally, I think it was apt ... I happen to like both DC & Marvel, so, to me at least, Stan Lee was a Superman of the comic world; now his job on Earth is done, he has flown off to explore the rest of our galaxy ...
For some reason this episode has me tearing up so much
Stan was truly the Man!
Cool. Thank you for making this icon
Thank you
I was lucky to meet him at my old job at JFK airport back in 2012. One of the greatest moments of my life. The Superman theme was a nice touch. Do a video on Jack Kirby please.
I choose to interpret the Superman theme music as a tribute to a truly super man. Thank you for the great presentation!
Stan, one of the greatest, thank you for all the comic stories you had created, I love them all, I enjoy them all, I always got excited to see your cameos in all the Marvel movies, I hope they never stop the cameo, even if they have to create holographic images of you, you'll never die in our hearts, I congratulate you Sir for your great accomplishments, & I have so much gratitude for all of your impeccable creations you made for us, teaching us "with great power comes great responsibility".
This was great. I didn't know about his early days. Thank you and rest in peace, Stan Lee.
This one’s definitely gonna blow up.
Great video! Stan Lee's one of my real life heroes, and I think he's the only comic book writer who got really recognized and acknowledged. Stan Lee once noted in Comics Scene 2000 #1 that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes was his reading. Hope you'll do video bios on Ian Fleming, Tom Clancy & Dan Brown soon as well.
The Human Torch was created by Carl Burgos, but Simon and Kirby did create Captain America and a lot of other characters in the 40s and 50s. Also, the company didn't go by the name of "Marvel Comics" until the early 1960s. Timely became Atlas Comics in the 1950s. As for the Comics Code and superheroes, I think you've got the timeline messed up. Superheroes fell out of favor after WWII, and all publishers had lower sales on their superhero characters, including Timely/Atlas Comics. Publishers that didn't go out of business in the late 40s and early 50s switched over to genre titles: westerns, crime, romance, horror, teen, science fiction, funny animal, etc. The Congressional hearings cracked down specifically on the explicitness of crime and horror comics, and perhaps a few other examples, but not so much on superheroes. If anything, implementation of the Comics Code paved the way for the revival of superheroes, as superheroes could still fight villains without resorting to explicit sex or violence. Stan had to lay off artists in the late 50s not because of the Comics Code, but because publisher Martin Goodman found out that Stan had built up a large stock of paid for but unpublished stories, and Martin, the cheapskate that he was, wanted Stan to use those stories and save the company money. But yes, it was around this time, just before they became Marvel and started doing superheroes again, that Stan had his mid-life crisis about working in comics. As for the Fantastic Four, what happened was that DC had had a big success with their new Justice League comic book, which was essentially an updated version of the Justice Society from the 1940s, with updated versions of The Flash and Green Lantern. Martin Goodman told Stan to create a supergroup like the Justice League. Instead, Stan and Jack Kirby came up with the Fantastic Four, itself a super-powered variation on The Challengers of the Unknown, a group Jack had created for DC a few years earlier. Goodman didn't complain when the FF proved to be popular, and Stan and Jack came up with Marvel's answer to the Justice League a little later with the Avengers. Also, those early Fantastic Four issues and almost all the early Marvel comics were indeed approved by The Comics Code Authority (just search for the covers of early issues to see the CCA stamp), but yes, the early Marvel superheroes stood out because they were more realistic characters with their own set of problems, in spite of their superpowers. Last but not least, Stan Lee didn't create all those superheroes on his own. He and Jack Kirby created many of them and he and Steve Ditko created others like Spider-Man. In fact, there's a fair amount of controversy in the comics field about how much Stan actually contributed to the creation of the characters, and how much was actually the creation of the plotter/artists Kirby, Ditko, and others. In any case, Stan was a very prominent and visible promoter of Marvel Comics and their characters and can be said to have genuinely helped the comics industry to grow and become part of the mainstream.
Thank you!!!!
I've been hearing buzz about Stan Lee, so video was quite informative. TopTenz works hard at daily videos. I look forward to them or binge on them when I am not able to view them daily. Btw, dig the Super Hero theme with it.
I randomly thought of requesting this video on his latest one but I'll be damned if he didn't already do it! Bravo good sir thank you for all of these videos.
What an amazing video of an amazing man. RIP Stan Lee, you were an incredibly talented person.
didnt think this year was going to get any worse but life has proved me wrong...and while i enjoy biographics well this time it really drew blood cos stan lee's comics were something that i grew up before the age of the internet and mobile phones. since u played the superman music maybe do a biographics on the man who was iconic as The Superman Christopher Reeves.
I grew up with Stan Lee and Marvel since 1958.
I was gonna ask for this. Thank you Simon! You think you can do a David Bowie bio soon?
Such a great job with this! I thought, unintentional as it may have been, the Superman theme lightened the story.
Hey! You did one on him after all! I'm really grateful learning more about him. Thanks a lot.
