  • Hey, everyone. This is kind of a different video. Took me a while to write and rewrite and re-rewrite, and even after it was finished I debated with myself and my friends about whether or not I should make it public. There's still a lot I'd change about this, and a lot more I wish I had the time or ability to say the way I want. But Stan was always in a constant state of creation, making one thing and moving on to the next. I wanted to take a page from his playbook there and not leave this video shelved forever. The characters Stan co-created with all the other talented artists and writers over at Marvel have impacted my life more than anything, and I hope this video is a small step towards showing my deepest gratitude. Thanks, Stan.

    • Robin Scherbatsky of "How I Met Your Mother" knew Alan Thicke. And, of course, Cobie Smulders made her way into the MCU after her role as Robin. So, somehow, according to some posthoc reasoning, "Robin Thicke" makes total sense as a mental slip.

  • I remember when I was 11 years old, I went to my first ever Comic-Con in New York with my family. I heard Stan Lee was going to be there at the time, and I thought, "This is my moment, this is where I'm going to meet him and tell him how grateful I am for the influence his creations have had on me!" Alas, all we saw was a sign saying Stan would be there to sign autographs the day BEFORE we went... We had just missed him. I was disappointed for sure, but I still held on to hope that one day, I would get to shake Stan's hand, get an autograph and picture with him, and say "Thank you, Stan, for everything". Unfortunately, that day will never come to pass now. Not meeting Stan Lee and tell him "thank you" will probably be one of my biggest regrets in life. But actions speak louder than words. Stan's passing still has not fully resonated with me yet, and I am just starting to realize how much I will miss him. But he has given me everything I need as an aspiring artist and creator. Each of us, whether we're an artist, a writer, a musician, or a scientist has the power to spread more positivity in the world and make it a better place, now it's our responsibility to use those talents in a way that will make Stan proud, and tell him, "Thank you, Stan, for everything". 'Nuff Said!

  • I uh... Wow... I sometimes don't know what to say when I deal with the passing of Stan Lee, my family and friends ask me "Hey, did you hear Stan Lee died?" And I could only respond with a nod and a faint, "Yeah." Because I couldn't fully grasp it for a long time myself, like you, Scott. But, when I watched this video... All of those emotions I've kept contained spilled out, and now I'm on the verge of tears in my college's cafeteria... Heh, I bewilder myself sometimes... Anyways, I wanted to just say something real quick with my connection to The Man. I am a comic writer and artist (Sunday comics right now, with a small story in a free anthology book), but I have plans to be a full on comic book writer, because of Stan Lee. I grew up reading Spider-Man, and I know he hasn't written something Spider-Man for a long time, but the character has been my favorite, and he was a coping mechanism for when I had a really tough time in my life where I didn't know if I could even trust my own family. I'm getting real personal, but the point is, Stan Lee's creations changed me, on a massive level, and I was like you, Scott, where I wanted to meet this legend, even with all of his faults. I, sadly, could not, but I always joked with my friends that, with the amount of characters I've created myself (I'm talking superheroes and villains) I mind as well be the next Stan Lee. And I wanted to tell him that... I wanted to tell him he changed me so much that I began doing what he did, and I wanted to let him know that the next round of heroes was on the next generation of writers. Now... I can't. But this video made me smile, laugh, cry and so much more, because it brought that fire in my chest back out and be willing to get back in the comic saddle. Not just in honor of Stan Lee, but in honor of what he built, because sometimes... The world just needs one more Stan Lee. Thanks, Scott. I needed this... Now, if you don't mind, I'm gonna go cry my eyes out as I write the next story with Stan Lee's spirit in my heart and soul. See ya.

You not only explained how Stan Lee impacted media and yourself in an incredible way, but the emotions that you presented were so...I don’t even know how to describe it. You opened up in a way we don’t see a lot online. My father and I watched this together and we both welled up when you began describing how much you wanted to meet Stan Lee and we are so incredibly happy that you did. I’m not good at explaining things at all so I’m not sure how to even word my praises for you so I’ll leave it at this: This is easily the best video you’ve ever made. • That was such a beautiful heartfelt video and I can think of a better way to remember Stan Lee. I grew up with the 90s marvel cartoons and they helped mould my perspective on life. They taught me to be inclusive of everyone despite their differences, in some cases they may be what gives them strength; to always do the right thing even if it is to your own detriment and to look out for the outcasts of which I always felt like one. I never had the exposure to the comics growing up but I keep meaning to read the classics of which I now own dozens of collected editions. Regardless of the medium though the message is still the same and is deeply woven into my identity. Thanks for such a moving video Scott

I subscribed to NS over a year ago and I really enjoy the channel's content. Always thought-provoking & interesting but I've never commented before. Now with passing of Stan The Man and the obvious labor of love this was for NS? I HAD to. Gut-wrenchingly honest vid NS Team and befitting the passing of the comic book industry's most fertile creative mind and prominent voice. "THANK YOU, Stan!" just doesn't say what I'm feeling...Stan & his creations have been a part of my life since the 6th grade and now they're a part of my children's lives and they show no signs of going anywhere anytime soon. • Honestly speaking, about last year, my class was being given those motivational speeches, y'all know how they go, then they asked, "who is your role model?" People said their own like Bill Gates, Barack Obama, Martin Luther King heck even Drake, but when the teacher asked me, I legit says Stan the Man Lee and people wondered and asked who he was, (I live in Kenya so not many people knew him) I told them "you know the old guy who appears in Marvel movies?" And they shrugged saying no, some even began giggling in the corner and that pissed me off, so I said "The man who created spider Man, the X men, fantastic four and... My childhood!" And people started looking around asking themselves if it was true and sure even started clapping coz they finally recognized him and that made me happy, we even went to watch infinity war with a couple of those guys who got interested in comics coz of me and that... Makes me happy ! Rip Stan

  • Just found this channel today, awesome stuff man. This video hit me right in the feels dude. I had a chance, not to meet him but he was doing a seminar at the con in my city and I wasn't able to get in to the auditorium as it was full and I was like "next time". Tough when you realize there is no next time, you missed it......I was super happy when it turned out he came back and you were able to meet him and get a pic, almost felt like I said "thank you" to him as well.

I never got the chance to meet him, but the fact that you were able to, and that leading to this warming and beautiful story, makes me just as happy as if I had meet him myself. I just want to say, you are doing a good thing for people, videos like this and the hundreds of others on your channel really mean something to people. Just like Stan's comics did, your videos mean something to me too. So thank you, I hope you keep on making these videos and having fun doing it.

I simply being honest, this video has made me a bit emotional, which just goes to show what of a great storyteller you are. I wish I could support you financially hope that this comment is enough though for the moment. And same as Stan, I consider you as a great friend and role model, despite there not being a two-way physical connection. Since I'm starting to ramble a bit I'll end this comment with : thanks mate
