      @dronemachine4694@dronemachine469413 күн бұрын
    • @dronemachine4694 it's not comparing them, Marner is the better player, but as far as pure passing ability goes they are pretty similar, and this year Auston and Domi showed to have more chemistry in those ten games than when he was playing with Marner this year. Matthews and Marner had a couple of good stretches but overall they seemed way more disconnected this year than in the past.

    • @@KyleMacSkill Did Marner not play with Matthews for more than half his near 70 goal season? I’d be interested to see how many primary’s came off Marners stick. Marner is one of the best passers in the league, Domi is not that, playoff hockey will make that plain and clear.

  • This was Matthew's only chance at 70. Not saying he's gonna fall off or anything like that, but that is just such a hard milestone to hit, I don't see him having another season like this. Everything has to go just right for that kind of number, I doubt he gets this close again. Still an amazing accomplishment, and I do think he'll get 60 again, but you don't get that many chances to make history like that.

    @BuddaBoomer@BuddaBoomer14 күн бұрын
    • He can only blame himself. After his 69th goal, he had *31* shot attempts! He had 24 shots on goal and 7 missed shots (wide, over, crossbar) trying to get to that 70th.

  • The Leafs should have locked up Matthews and Marner long term and traded Nylander a year ago when his value was top. They could have used the cap savings for some help on D, added depth up front and perhaps improve the goaltending. I also would have explored ways to get out from under the Tavares contract. Not the player, the $11M cap hit. Unfortunately, they're trying to keep the band together, long after they should have moved on.

I believe playing more in these situations will help with any performance anxiety issues....you know gripping the stick too much. The guy has never had to worry about making the playoffs in his NHL career. You need to have the blood flowing abit..some adreniline before going in. Look it the success of teams fighting for a playoff spot against teams who aren't in the 1st round. Leafs need something to play for going in I think.

  • It is absolutely asinine to say we are going to get rid of the core 4 when you see the goaltending performances the Leafs have put up this year. The only reason I am not confident for the Leafs is the goaltending has not been acceptable and we don’t know what we are going to get. If they get decent goaltending they are a top 5 team. I have no clue if they will win because the goaltending is such a mess. What kind of goaltending are we getting this postseason?? Watch the FLA series last year it was closer than it looked. Leafs goaltending was soft as heck and cost them a quick FLA series. Huge risk to bet on a rookie and Samsonov in the playoffs. I like how Samsonov recovered but how smart was it to put a goaltender with difficulty dealing with setbacks (mental strength) in a pressure cooker market. You are asking for a disaster if we see the same stuff again. Samsonov was awful in game 1 against TB last season. Management made this choice to keep him as no 1 for another season.

At least the Leafs had a 5 game winning streak - they are a much stronger team without Morgan in the Leaf line up. • That desperate sideshow of getting Austin his 70th symbolizes everything that is wrong with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Where as other NHL teams have their eye in the prize half a dozen superstars on the Leafs roster are only in it for themselves. Management are continually walking on eggshells so afraid to hurt some primadonna's feeling? Wtf guys it's a disgrace. The majority of hockey fans across North America can't stand this organization for that reason. The media in the GTA treats them like they're walking on water, but I have no problem with the fans. They are there through thick and thin it's been admirable. Going into the playoffs thinking this is our year finally we're going to get it done but you're all going to grow and to your senior year still waiting for this team to take things to the next level. They're gaslighting you every single season and it's unlikely it's going to change anytime soon.

    • Seeing how NOBODY for ANY TEAM has gotten close to 70 in almost 30 years, your comment is ENTIRELY speculative. The truth is, if someone playing for, I don't know, the Buffalo Sabres or something, had been sitting at 69 with two games to go, it's very possible that the team would have spent two games feeding him the puck. In fact, I find it highly unlikely they wouldn't have been. Fewer people would have cared though, I agree with you on that.

    • Eh I think you're a little too fixated on one side here when TB did the exact same thing for Kuch. The reality is, it probably shows how much harder it is to score 70 goals VS get 100 assists. And that's not to take away from the accomplishment for Kuch or McDavid, but Kyper nailed it. When you're passing, your team can play like a team in order to accomplish the goal. When you have to be the one to score, everyone has to force things to you and the other team just has to shut down 1 person, not all 5. The goalie only has to try against 1 player to prevent to score, not 5. And that outcome was very obvious between both games in Florida. The minute Kuch got his milestone, TB stopped playing with any amount of care with the exception of stopping Mathews from getting his moment. It's ok to want to accomplish special milestones, especially for / with your team mates. Sure they aren't as great as winning the cup, but that doesn't make them meaningless. What really bothered you is how much the team really didn't care to put much pressure to play real hockey in the last 4 games. If you want to have a serious discussion about that, I think that's a fair take.

  • Jesus first 49 mins of this just taking about the Leafs, talk about something else, even the US teams, like NYR winning presidents trophy. Glad they at least put the subject on the time bar, listened to 9 mins then forwarded 40 mins. The vid title should be "Leafs & other Canadian teams". At least they were all basically talking about what a joke that last game was. It would be hilarious if Toronto got sweep by Boston, and they spend the rest of the playoffs and off season talking about how they should've sat Matthews the last couple games of the regular season lol.

  • If the Leafs beat the Bruins, they win the Cup. There is no player , playing now that is the best ever. Maybe in 24 months The Great 8 will be the greatest goal scorer ever. You guys talk like you know hockey...but you don't.😎

  • This is pathetic hindsight gloating. Matthews had so many chances over the last two games that it's unlikely he didn't get it. If one of those pucks had gone in rather than hit the iron, these guys wouldn't be able to say any of this. Rather than admit it was inevitable that the Leafs chase it, which it was, these guys are choosing "I told you so," rather than, "no big deal," which is the appropriate response.

  • Bourne... we would love to just "move on", brother. But, Toronto hasn't defeated Boston in a playoff series since 1959. And, when you think of the Game 7s in 2013, 2018, and 2019... no Leafs fan will EVER feel good about facing the Bruins until we beat them. That Boston arena... that logo... those colours... it's a fear we have embedded in us. Passed from generation to generation.

  • "The New York Yankees of hockey"? Not when you haven't won a championship in 56 years and counting. Good thing you're paid to be pro-Leafs. Sorry, Kool-Aid went bad decades ago.

  • Truthfully, it's not about a record, at the end of the day it's about winning the Stanley Cup. If you let it come naturally maybe Matthew's would've got the 70 goals, this is what happens when you go looking for it and all the hype is built around it. If you get it or you don't, so what, it's not the end of the world. 69 is a good number in many ways, the days of Woodstock, the year I was born, a man's favourite intercourse position. Go Figure! As a hockey 🏒 player or player of any sport, you score either way. Bing-Badda-Boom Badda Bing! Go Leafs Go! Go Leafs Go! My wife and I Love ❤️ The Real Kyper and Bourne show. 🇨🇦🍁🏒🥅👌👍
