WARNING: MILLION DOLLAR BOAT SINKING FAST IN THE MIAMI RIVER | BOAT ZONE
Luxury Vanquish boat sank under unclear circumstances in the Miami River. No one was injured. The cause is under investigation by local authorities.
What happens if my boat sinks?
A sinking boat can happen suddenly and without warning. As long as you have some sort of comprehensive or full boat insurance policy, your provider should cover your boat if it sinks due to a potential source of damage, called a peril, that's outlined in the policy. Examples of typically covered perils include fire, theft, storms, and vandalism.
Can a sunken boat be saved?
Whether it's due to poor maintenance, a major storm, or an accident, sunken ships don't necessarily mean all is lost. There is an excellent chance that your sunken boat can be salvaged

Seeing all of those teenagers in a beautiful city, on a beautiful day, on beautiful boats, on their phones is mind blowing to me.

I would argue that NO city is "beautiful". Cities are inherently abominations. Cities are like cancers. They are ugly and always growing. I agree with the rest of your comment though.
When you are heavily Invested in FTX and you boat payment comes due.
I love that fact that everyone in Miami seems to own a "Midnight express Quint Mercurys" like if they're Toyota corollas!
If you happen to find about 50 packages that look like small shoeboxes floating about the river then I’d appreciate getting those back. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation!!

Right lmao they just had some guy casually pick them up just at the right time
It looks like somebody rented the boat for the day. You see the stew handing the guy a warm towel. I wouldn't do that for friends.

THEY DO INVESTIGATE TO SEE IF THEY CAN TELL IF ITS AN INTENTIONAL SINKING-THE BIGGEST CATCH FOR INSURANCE COMPANIES IS THAT MOST PLANNED SINKS, THE OWNER WILL PULL ALL HIS EQUIPMENT AND PERSONALS AND THE BIGGEST IS IF THE LIQUOR HAS BEEN TAKEN OFF-I HAD A SINKING AND I MET THE INVESTIGATOR AND HE TOLD ME WHAT HE LOOKS FOR-I LOST EVERYTHING AND HAD FLOATING LIQUOR BOTTLES SO HE KNEW I DIDNT SINK IT INTENTIONALLY-IT HAD A MISSING DRAIN HOSE, THE SHORE POWER KICKED OFF AND BATTS WENT DEAD AND BILDGE WOULDNT RUN-
Boat zone makes yachting look so glamorous as it is... but in this video, he even made the bad side of it look good. So talented
They had an airline stewardess on the boat. Handed the dude a warm towel before diembarking thw sunking ship 😂😂
It’s always important to have someone onboard who knows the water/coolant systems to constantly check the hoses. There was plenty of time to get portable pump’s onboard if they were sailors.
Yeah it's strange because it ends up like that in 20 minutes and that 20 mins includes the time to get the passengers off. Then it's shown moving along fairly quickly next thing it's under. Yeah i'd be calling for the tow boats to get there with their portable high flow pumps, but instead the entire government gets there, water cops, coasties, fire boat, yet not the fellas who could throw some pumps in
Agreed! My SeaDoo boat wa taking on massive amounts of water, and the culprit was a loose exhaust hose.
These night time shots are awesome. Great exposure. The lights really pop without washing out everything else.
Did you guys notice how many people (mostly females) are sitting and playing on their phones. You're in an amazing place, on a luxury water craft, yet you're consumed by a time little screen in your hand.
It’s called addiction
Privilege is invisible to those that don’t have to work for it
I know I took a friend and his son fishing last year and every time I looked over his son had his phone in his hand. My friend took it from him after a few comments from me say you can’t catch a fish with a phone in your hand. My friend is coming for another fishing trip but he is leaving the kid home.
To you it may be a once in a life experience, but to them it's just another Saturday. Furthermore, if the boat a lot. An inlet or dock is about as interesting as a parking lot is. I don't understand the vitriol
I know several people who are severely addicted to their phones. It's so annoying and ages vary greatly. One as old as 75.
Glad i read your descriptions, thanks for keep teaching and sharing information like this
I would bet that the proper application of duck tape and/or expanding foam gap filler would have kept this from happening. I keep both on my boat.
What never ceases to amaze (and disgust me) are all the narcissistic people totally engrossed in their damn cellphones while out on the water. Christ on a cracker people, put down the phones, turn them off and enjoy the beautiful world you're participating in. No one is that important and missing a couple Instagram posts won't wreck your day. Sad to see that beautiful boat sink. Would love to know the rest of the story.
Boats like these don't just sink. Someone is prepping for a recession.
Not sure what happened here but I'll take a guess. When a small boat like this one takes on high volume of sea water in a short time it's usually an exhaust elbow or some part of the sea water exhaust system that has failed. All the operator has to do is shut down the effected engine and the water will stop flowing into the engine room. Another good suggestion is to rig a crossover valve that will take water from the bilge and back out into the ocean. Of course this process must be monitored so that the engine does not run dry. A one hour training session on this system for the captain and crew is recommended. I think all Inboard boats should have this system installed from the factory. Unfortunately, most operators lose their minds when they see water inside the engine room.
It’s weird this happened in a brand new boat. I’m sure something unusual was the cause, Vanquish Yachts is a very reputable brand in Europe and USA.

That custom built tender at 6:20 really is something to look at. Its mothership must be nearby! (the 109 meter Bravo Eugenia if the insignia on the side is to be believed)
Yes, the tender is designed by Nuvolari Lenard. Beautiful blend of modern and vintage Venice water taxi style.
At least the cushions float that was some great engineering
I like the evening shots of these boats. It shows a different ambiance of them.

Judging by how fast it went down and the fact that it was still able to move forward and reverse cooling system is not the culprit.my guess seeing there was no billowing of steam coming out of any hatches also.my guess is going to be the drive bellows when he trimmed up to go thru the canal he trimmed up and it pulled of the drive opening up a 6 inch opening.thats my guess with 30 years as a marine mechanic
I agree bellows would do that in the time stated, in exactly that fashion. Looks like maybe the alarm for water may have sounded, they saw the problem, hurried to let off passengers, and tried to get it to a shallow or beach.
@@Coupe420 also judging by how fast the boat started drowning after he backed up I'm guessing that really brought on water.if he would of been able to go faster he would of lost alot of the water going forward.done that alot forgot a drain plug get it on plane and lost alot of the water.

Follow up on this story, Boat Zone!
My sit on top type ocean kayak that washed up after a hurricane on the Outer Banks has been the best boat I've owned as it requires no real maintenance, requires no license or registration and I can use it just about anywhere anytime. It's been modified for fishing using stuff that other people threw away. The only real costs were two life jackets, a paddle and the first-aid emergency kit I put together or about $250. I'm too lazy to be rich anyway.
You're the richest man in the world !!!
Well that is not far from the smartest thing you could do in life haha. We love boating and spending time on the water. we went up from 4,2 m 40hp outboard driven little 4 seater to a yr 2000 maxum 1900 sc and now just a few days ago to a yr 2001 cruisers yachts 3470. Getting bigger means getting more expensive, in purchase and maintenance and keeping it somewere. The first would fit next to the house on the trailer. Very cheap to insure and ample fuel costs. The second also lives on a trailer when not used but does not fit next to the house so we have a rented dry place for that. uses more fuel than the first and insurance is a bit more. The new one how ever is way to big to have on the road so you need a spot in a marina. This is much more expensive compared to the dry storage on the trailer. Also the insurance is much more and fuel cost also will be much higher. And last but not least, maintaining this boat will cost a lot more since it it always in the water you need bottom paint jobs and anodes switched out and other stuff that will break. I has been dream to own a boat like this and now we will know what it is all about. maybe we are sick of it after a year or two, maybe it will be our dream come true. we will see. But keeping general costs down in life does mean you have less worries and need to earn less money to live a good and relaxed life. Sure it is great to see very big expensive boats and sure they have a good time on it but in my opinion a boat that is too big to handle on your own not a way to freedom. Needing personel on the boat to do all jobs means you have no real privacy too. Hate that. Enjoy your kayak!!!!
Being content with what you have is the most valuable emotion you can possess.
I tell myself being rich is overrated 😂
Agree. Always temping to get an Amel Super Maramu but I do 500km coastal kayaks on a surf ski and have no worries.
What a bummer…My guess would be catastrophic failure of a thru/hull or exhaust system. Alarms must have worked cause skipper was able to notice problem and get passengers off quickly..
Was beautiful
I have the drain plug. LOL
Was on a yacht in front of the Epic for a month workin.Coolest thing I seen on that river was a Tug pushing a big barge down backwards.
Old boats that last for many years vs brand new boats that sink in calm water..... it doersnt make sense.

that Sun Seeker is amazing and looks immaculate at night
I´m impressed how such an expensive boat can sink so easily, a storm or a crash may be but suddenly sinking because a malfunktion is appalling, should never have happened, aren´t those boats meant to sail far away the coast line into the ocean ?
Dam those boats with those engines tho wow😮
It's deceiving. 1.53 it's underway. 2. 04 police on the way. That's pretty quick. That MTI was pretty small for 4x450. It must move. The inverted bow trend is butt ugly IMO.
I agree about the bow. Any wave taller than that bow is going straight into the cabin
@@rickireland2796 isn't that kinda the case no matter what? Every one of those beautiful midnight expresses would be full of water if they take one over the bow also! All i do know for sure is i don't have enough money to care about how the mega rich have their boats designed.i assume if that design had any other negative impacts than just looks, it probably wouldn't be used, and I kinda like it!

The wealth in this video is insane!
Unfortunately this is no longer an uncommon occurrence among modern boats. Fires are also on the rise. To sink this fast means a large volume very quickly. Contrary to popular belief bilge pumps are for nuisance leaks and drips not flooding. Bilge pumps do not pump thousands of gallons per minute. They can be sized to pump thousands of gallons per hour and still fit on a small boat. A common size bilge pump = 3400 gallons per hour = 3400/60minutes =
When you say fires and sinkings are on the rise, do you mean a per capita increase? I can easily see an increase due simply to the large increase in new boats and boat owners during the last few years. Our local boat launches have been inundated with boats the last two summers.
@@randallsemrau6911 This opinion is mine own based on my personal observations and experiences. I hesitate to use empirical data as it causes hate... for instance if you use the data collected by the Coast Guard the most dangerous boat size for recreational boaters is anything under 16', with 16% chance of death.. also the chance of a death occurring on a recreational boat with the following three attributes is over 51% 1) inexperienced operator + 2) inattentive operator + 3) Alcoholic beverage consumption = 4) Over 51% chance of a death on board.. My gut says on a per capita basis the amount of fires is very significantly increased. However I know of no official study on this as of Dec 2022. The perceived increase could be because of the vast increase in number of boaters/incompetent boaters or it could be because of the truly vast increase in electrical complexity and use aboard recreational vessels, as the most common cause of fires on boat are electrical in nature. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the increase in shaft related sinkings is due to the so called drip-less shaft seals. Stuffing boxes simply do not have as many modes of catastrophic failure and I've seen to many shaft seal failures due purely to stupid mistakes.
When we take the entirety of the situation into consideration; assume it popped a shaft seal or some equivalent sized leak. They're right next to a dock/seawall in a very busy channel with professional help all around. Why wouldn't a captain call mayday to get someone there quick with pumps, delegate tying the dock lines to a mate then run below and do whatever possible to stop or limit the flow of water, such as stuffing things up against the leak (shirt, towel, anything) and doing their best to stop or limit the leak until help arrives. Obviously 98% of the story is missing, but what we can see of the response doesn't seem to match the severity of the situation, assuming saving the boat was the goal.
Wonder how long distance they proceeded before sinking?
Google report...According to the owner, Jeremy Lycke, the boat's stabilizer pontoon snapped. A wake from a passing boat is what caused it to snap. Once the outrigger broke, the boat capsized and sank in under five minutes. Happened in Nov, 2022.
That’s not the Vanquish. This is the boat in your Google article- Jay’s Sandbar Food Boat sank in 5 minutes.
