Considering the majority of this type of content, this is damn impressive. Buildings still run down, floor is dirt, and men still do honest work. A CNC machine? Eye protection? Gloves? Impressive. Ever notice the creative jigs, tools, etc in these videos? Someone figures out a process, gathers the equipment, builds simple jigs, and put people to work. As always, there is a behind the scenes person pulling the strings. And making the money. Damn. I just described America.
Imagine if they put the gear on movable carts rather than throwing it on the dirty ground after each step of the process
If I ran the place, I would spend a few days making work tables, carts, and organized racks. Get all of the work up off the ground. It seems very inefficient to me. The amount of unnecessary energy that is expended simply picking parts off of the floor/ground is huge over time. But they do make good parts with the machinery that they have. I'm not sure though if the steel is tempered properly for its end use.
@@edschultheis9537 from what I've seen throughout the years is in Pakistan and India the worker is "expendable", they're basically slaving away, (just remembered, EGYPT TOO! Egyptian workers in Jordan and much of the middle east are worked to death), in Jordan, it was cheaper to bring a bunch of Egyptian workers to carry bricks up a 7-floor building for an entire day than it is to bring a truck with an extendable boom that'll do the work in less than an hour. they owner simply doesn't care, he doesn't see the workers as human.

I'm fascinated by these videos, at every stage the item is thrown on the floor, why not use benches, that'll save some backache..
Agreed. By the time these workers at 45 they are so riddled with pain they can hardly work. How hard would it be to have a bench connecting all the stages.
They do all their work from off the ground !!! My back wouldn’t last 5 minutes 😩

I didn't see any heat treatment. Soft iron gear? Chemical effects give it a color as if it had been broken by heat treatment. Didn't the material harden from so much soaking?
That's why they make so many of them, they only last three months probably.
12.35 ish onwards. Looks like hot salts infusion to me. Then rinse, then neutralise. He then blackens them and finally oils.
@@chrisbis36ify In a plastic barrel with some chemical balls in it? He doesn't look hot. Neither is iron.
@@azrael834 no..... the metal looking tank. Brown in colour (liquid) its bubbling, which makes me think its heated. There's a tall gas cylinder on the left. You will notice for the latter stages, they don't handle the gear by hand, but rather carefully on the end of a slight hooked long rod. Maybe they have been heated somewhere.
@@chrisbis36ify If you look at it, it picks up the waiting parts from the ground with the hook tool, which cannot be hot. The angle tool is needed because there are caustic liquids in the barrels. You can't dig into it with your hands. It is possible that these parts were heated in one of the phases that were left out, but then they should have been heat treated immediately while the metal was still glowing. And because of that, he would have already discolored. The way I see it, they use various acid tricks to make a hardened level, as if that would have happened.
Amazing work
With the equipment available and those conditions, what these skilled workmen produce is nothing short of remarkable, well done.
Remarkable is the word
Can not believe the 'throw-away' nature of each stage of manufacturing...... instead of let's say sliding the rings over a slightly angled tube or pole that the product can slip down. Easy materials handling thereafter
На высокочастотник для закалки зубьев ещё не заработали видимо. Столько труда впустую😮
Great 👍
Nice Process....❤❤❤❤❤..
Material saving good 😊
Everybody is complaining about them trowing it on the ground again and again, these people don’t have backaches they are backaches
No hardened?
It is not always beneficial to harden some gears because they may actually wear faster and crack under the constant starter gear engagement.
@@sgtbrown4273 but they need to be tough because the gear from the starter is pretty hard/tough. It would wear down a too soft metal fast
Is the chemical treatmentphosphating to prevent rust.
Это кошмар, а не производство 😢 поэтому сейчас все одноразовое качества нет от слова совсем, потому что производят такие черти всё
Nice ❤Nice
The workers are hardworking, but they are poor, the owner does not provide them with basic protective equipment - gloves.
GOOD JOB
Без закалки это не законченное изделие!

Да ктож знает, ктож знает)
Really good work
What I can't understand is why create something then throw it on the ground which the makes someone have to pick it up and carry it to another place then throw it on the ground only to have the same process repeated until the product is finished? Can they not get better organized?
They dont care about the backs of their employees. Could You imagine how much better this operation would look with some benches and some wheeled carts?

Flywheel ring gear is used for starting the engine. It connects to the starter motor via a solenoid. I hope this material is not plain Mild Steel, as that won't survive the brutal torque on it.

Heat treatment is ignored deliberately. They want frequent damage of gear to attain more business.
No heat treatment i like my flywheel ring that will last a few months
I thought hardening was essential?? For starter rings. I can't believe it's not hardened.

@@swarfs that's what she said
@@swarfsRing gears are not hardened. I have replaced many flywheel ring gears over the years and to remove the old worn gear we simply drill a hole just beneath the teeth and give it a couple of blows with a hammer and chisel. They are quite soft and ductile.
@@howardosborne8647 The body of the ring gear is not hardened, it has to be more ductile to shrink fit and grip onto the flywheel. The teeth are hardened to resist wear, typically to over 45 Rockwell hardness.
Weird how you don't line the rings up before making the gear teeth
Is there a reason why at the end of every part of the process of making these things that they are thrown to the ground .........why ???????
I watched a motorcycle tank manufacturing earlier, also with that delicate item, thrown to ground. 😢
Main reson to throw them is that the rust goes off... 😊
You forgot "hit it with a hammer"
A lot of people like instant gratification and the act of throwing something and it making noise gives them that subconscious buzz. Have to explain to them in a particular way that it just dings the metal and hurts everyones ears and they stop.

Mehran is like Maruti suzuki 800, older version. Which only rich ppl can afford in Pakistan.
There must be a lot of "rich people" in Pakistan, judging by the number of ring gears they are making... these certainly, guys are not rich...😧
I fully support the workers, the real evil ones are the owners of these factories by not giving these workers decent wages, adequate clothing and above all, health insurance for accidents at work.
I don't think the owner is making a huge amount of profit in the first place given the fact they chose them for the price (cheap price). It's pretty easy to judge base on zero knowledge of the whole picture
Is that a guess or do you know what the owners earn?
@@LegendLengthI certainly know that owners are as rich as workers
good working.
That chemical treatment is done to make it look like the gear has been heat treated. Those are mild steel rings and they will not last long.
the chemical treatment is simply black oxide treatment, it is a common enough treatment for ferrous parts that simply gives some rust resistance, it is not meant to enhance strength
Normally, Flywheel Ring is made of Pig Iron.
You just buy a pack for spares
I am using it since many years it's work for long at least 2 years or more
@@husainzaidi1527Pig iron is a crude form of impure iron derived from smelting iron ore. Ring gears such as these in the video are made from steel which is a far higher quality processed material than pig iron.

2:00 impressive, first safet gear i've seen from these vidoes, might be time to hire hr worker to give a pat on the back .
9:27 an unskilled eye might say impressive work, a skilled eye will have a look if all the teeth have the same length/shape otherwise the transferred speed will be not continuous per rotation. That said I manufacture precision gears myself. 11:03 looks bad ... failed production or within the specified tolerance? 14:10 the gear teeth don't seem to look the same (height) so either there's a problem with the fixture or with the gear hobber.
The devil is in detail . Nice Observation!
Nie hartowane
@@wojtas-4 it's for a Suzuki Mehran, not for a car .... (just a joke)
From what I've observed in these videos from Pakistan, a lot of stuff is made this way in small factories and roadside shops in poor conditions, but it's sufficient for the industry there. Parts are probably inexpensive, they wear out fast from hard use, are replaced, and the old parts are melted to make new parts. They recycle everything. That part of the world is undergoing its industrial revolution, just as the West did about 150 years ago - except they have the advantage of a lot of new techniques the West did not have then.
Lack of heat treating was strange to me. Surely that would increase the strength a lot? I see it promoted by western gear manufacturers. Also being precision ground not sure how that differs from a cob like in this video though.
