The Night France and Brazil wore kits from the early 1900s to mark FIFA's centenary anniversary on 20 May 2004 at the Stade de France, leading by superstars like Ronaldo, Zidane, Carlos, Ronaldinho, Henry, Kaka, Viera and so many others ..
Disclaimer, i bought all the matches and made the video all by myself including this one.
France and Brazil were selected as the two nations to spar in FIFA’s centenary match .. FIFA was founded in 1904, although the first international game took place between England and Scotland 32 years earlier. But, as World Cup holders and European champions, it was Brazil and France who had the honor of bowing down at the alter of Sepp Blatter.
boasted a healthy dose of 1998 World Cup winners- think like Zinedine Zidane, Lilian Thuram, Desailly, Patrick Vieira Robert Pires and Thierry Henry- mixed with Makelele , Wiltord Jean-Alain Boumsong, Trezeguet and Olivier Kapo,
Les Bleus’ ensemble consisted of blue collared shirts, long cream shorts, red socks and a belt.
Think Tesco’s shelve stacker meets dad on a rugby tour in the south of France.
The kit paid homage to France’s first kit, worn in a 3-3 draw with Belgium on 1 May 1904.
Brazil’s side was no less star-studded.
Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Kaka, Edmilson and Ze Roberto were the standout inclusions while Juninho Pernambucano’s ability to score free-kicks from anywhere on the pitch brought intrigue.
Their main task was making a white shirt with a lace-up collar- a nod to Brazil’s first game in 1914- look stylish.
A tough ask, even if you’ve got Ronaldo’s magical feet up front.
The game kicked off in front of a stadium-record 79,344 spectators at the Stade de France with a replica ball from 1904 looking surprisingly at home in the centre circle.
The festival of fashion concluded when Brazil and France came out in their modern kits for the second half.
France (4-4-2): Coupet; Thuram, Boumsong, Desailly (Mendy, h-t), Gallas; Pires (Wiltord, h-t), Vieira, Makelele, Zidane (Kapo, 71); Trezeguet, Henry.
Brazil (4-3-1-2): Dida; Cafu, Luisao, Cris, Roberto Carlos; Juninho Pernambuco (Baptista, 80), Edmilson, Ze Roberto (Edu, h-t); Kaka (Alex, h-t); Ronaldinho, Ronaldo.
Referee: M Mejuto González (Spain).

    • Zidane was overrated. The guy didn’t have much efficiency at all, just a bunch of tricks that looked eye catching but didn’t lead to any significant results. He averaged only 7 goals and 10 assists per season which is embarrassing for a number 10. Even Lampard contributed more and he was playing deeper in midfield.

  • 2004 onwards Ronaldo started going downhill both physically and health-wise. I mean he did quite well in Milan until his injury and then in Corinthians he was like an adult playing vs kids although visibly overweight and not fit but let's be honest 2002-2003 was his peak. Unfortunately, we never got the chance to see him in his prime. We never got the chance to see what he could truly have achieved if he wasn't so unlucky with his career ending injuries. The things he did in Barcelona-Inter (1st year) as a 20yr old boy were out of this world.

    • 2002-2003 he was great, but he was still adjusting to his post-injury physical limitations. 2003-2004 was when he was completely comfortable in his body and new play style and I feel that was his post-injury peak. He was on fire that season, had scored around 24 goals in 26 la Liga games and was on track for 30+ la Liga goals before injury struck again and Real Madrid collapsed as a team. The crazy thing is that after such a debilitating career ending injury, this guy was able to come back, adapt, and become basically the best player in the world again for 2 seasons.

I don't believe Ronaldo ever played at a level high enough to be considered world-class, let alone win the Ballon D'or as the absolute best player. He was a below average player at best and was only relevant for maybe 4 years. Henry on the other hand was absolutely prolific in every way. He deserved to win the Ballon D’or every year he played. FIFA has no credibility.

    • @@USMNTsoccerELITE This is the first time I am seeing this kind of opinion about R9..may be you have lesser knowledge about football history.. Otherwise you are just a hater of Brazil and R9... For your kind information, in 1998, that was not champions league final.. It was UEFA cup final against Lazio.. Just check his videos, When he played in inter and barcelona... You can't find a better player who is a mix of pace, vision, dribbling skills, physical contact, power, shooting accuracy, long ranger skill.. In Barcelona, he was a goal poacher. In Inter milan, he played a role of play maker as well..Actually, I came to know about R9 after 2002 world cup.. the injuries badly influenced his speed and playing style.. So in real madrid changed his playing styles as fox in the box and target man.. Most of the younger generation people only know R9 when he played for Real madrid.. So they considered him as an average striker because R9 hadn't created much impact when he was in Madrid.. But those who love pure football like me went back to his older videos and realised him better... Then made a conclusion.. No other player in the world is close to R9 in terms of football skills and vision...( pre injury Ronaldo ) Just think Why Messi chose R9 as the best striker ever... Just think why Zlatan consider R9 as the best football player ever....He has something special....right??? I had watched Henry when he played for Arsenal and Barcelona... No disrespects.. He was a beast.. Actually I like him a lot...but we can't place him in the level of R9... Can you show some dribbling skills of any other player better than R9? You can find only one person....Messi. But he has an advantage of small size and small legs... But keep in mind that the defenders of R9's time were monsters 😲like Maldini🔥🔥, Campbell, Nesta, barresi, cannavaro..Etc You please find some time to watch some videos of pre injury Ronaldo, then you will understand who is R9... He was the best of superstar's era... The first megastar of football ✌️
