These guys were terrorists committing an act of terrorism: one of them had a gun on one of the operatives (Black Widow) and the other was literally threatening to use a biological weapon. Clean kills, not murder.

And the expression on Wanda's face after the explosion when she immediately realizes what she's done. The whole sequence of this, setting up the events to follow in the film, is just masterful. Love 'Civil War' -- definitely one of the tip-top entrants in the MCU, IMO.

  • The tactics crossbones uses are pretty solid honestly, he forces cap to throw his shield taking away both his greatest defence and close quarters weapon, he knows cap is enhanced so he augmented his combat prowess with tech and armour and he even has a backup plan in case he can’t take him down with the bomb. if Wanda hadn’t been there then Steve Rodgers would be a smear on the market floor. the only place he went wrong is not immediately using the knives on his gauntlets since he clearly wanted to have a proper stand up fight with him which is all about his tarnished ego.

The end of it is pretty sad but it’s reality setting in, they are super powered people fighting in the streets with very fragile meat bags all around them. • The MCU simply doesn't have the same amount of time to tell its stories that the comics have, so when they pick up a relatively minor villain like Crossbones or Shocker, they deal with them quickly then move on. It's the same reason that villains in Batman movies always appear in pairs or trios - they want to use as much of the rogues gallery as they can, but only have so much screen time to work with.

  • Remember when Marvel used to mean scenes like this? Remember when they were the gold standard for action and suspense? It was so engaging, with real stakes and actual problems requiring resolutions…Now we have She-Hulk spending a whole episode waiting for the guy she slept with to text her back and crashing a therapy session. Marvel, you shoulda called it after Hawkeye. You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
