  • What they don't tell you is the full strength bleach will degrade the fabric and it will begin to eat holes in it in a couple months. I've done some work with bleach and it's happened to me. You need to dilute it 50/50 with water. Ritt Dye makes color remover that works just as well without the damage to the fabric.

    • Yipp! Pure each would definitely destroy the fabric... good info re Ritt Dye Remover 👌🏾

    • I had the same experience with using plain bleach. It ate the fabric and produced holes. Good to know a 50/50 ratio is needed. Thanks for the suggestion of Rite Dye! I think I will try the safer Rit Dye method. Be well. 🐞😊

  • What is happening? How does five minute crafts all of a sudden actually make sense? Why are the vast majority of these very good ideas? What universe have we shifted into?

    • Well, some of them I saw made sense and then you see that obvious fake one and it's like "Aha! I see what they did there" and yeah, that fake one was soaking the pinecones in bleach btw. It cut to another shot and you could kind of see that they painted them white

    • Anyone who dyes, paints or does crafts can see that these projects 1. Don't take 5 minutes 2. Would never work as presented 3. Don't explain viscosity or mixture of bleach and/or paint properties. The pinecone thing... it cracked me up. 😂 She obviously never took chemistry and has no idea what a base would do to wood, especially an acidic tree like a red pine. Comical. How much bleach is being washed into the local ecosystem by this crafter? How long do clothes last if merely "washed and dried" and the base is not neutralized? Cutting every elastic used? Not a true crafter. A closet full of one-sided shirts, and pants that will be falling apart from bleaching (even if neutralized) is not a great wardrobe unless you have money to throw away. I need to stop commenting on stupid videos. 🙄

  • The patterns are nice. The only thing is bleach fumes can be dangerous. If when using bleach to do this make sure there's plenty of ventilation or do this outside. Do not stay in a closed room.

  • I actually cant believe it...a 5 m craft video where almost all of them are legit... wth is going on?? I also have an addition to this..I made a really cool Crow shirt for halloween .. using a cardboard crow which I put over a black shirt and used 3 different ratios of bleach, bleach water (For different shades) and it actually worked and I still have it and wear it today. (When doing this, use cardboard or something INSIDE a shirt because the bleach Will go through to the back/other side if you dont put something there to stop that., ie=those designs where they placed something on the front, and sprayed it, if there isnt something underneath, the bleach mix will soak down and make funky marks on the other side. if you dont care, fine, but I'd put something inside

  • These are really cool designs/ideas, I like it A LOT!!! VERY CREATIVE INDEED!!! ⚠The only thing I would do beyond what you have done is explain to the audience that bleach is a hazardous substance and should be handled with care and depending on the age of children, some parental supervision should be considered as to need. ⚠Advise the artists to use old, worn, basically unwanted clothes to do their art in, so if bleach gets on the clothing, it won't ruin aqsomething liked. Also, wear safety glasses and gloves if possible. ⚠Work in a well ventilated area, but preferably outside, as the bleach can and might spew caustic particles in the air around us ⚠I would not recommend using straight bleach, more like one to one parts water and bleach, as bleach is very caustic and can and will deteriorate clothing, even leaving holes, if left too long without rinsing off ,and ever material type will have a different reaction than others, especially as to the amount of time one has before it begins deteriorating the clothing. Even doing it half and half one still needs to be very cautious and rinse extremely well multiple times when done with the color change as soon as one can, then wash and dry, so the clothing will stay as close to original strength as possible.

  • Thank you ever so much for sharing your creativity and enthusiasm for life. That was truely a ton of ideas. Ya put a smile on my face that will last for weeks. An idea to share: the bleached areas can be accentuated with fabric paints. The lighter resuting area will give paints a better base for opaqueness than they had on the dark substrate. For example, with the bleached hearts, you can make a smaller heart stamp to have more than two colours. The stamps work great for control and to speed up working a exact design. I plan to return to your channel for it's "happy pills" and great ideas.

  • In the late 80s, I used bleach on some jet black boot-cut Levi's and a black cotton summer shirt with a banded collar and full- length tuxedo pleats. I wanted leopard print, but went with artistic splotches about the same size when I realized I'd have to make a stencil. Haha But back in the day, I got more compliments on that outfit than anything else I ever wore. We had some good times, didn't we bleach!

If it doesn't get a good wash...it will irritate the skin.

    • @@leenone8456 ya...I learned that the hard way years ago. There was this face wash called oxyclean...made with peroxide that has the unintentional effect of bleaching fabric and wash cloths when folks scrubbed their faces and it splashed on their clothes. Well turned out ...it broke me out when I used it on my face so I put a spout top on it and used it to write my name on my favorite shirt ( it was the 80s...that's what we did)...well the shirt bleached in 3 levels of color spelling my name. It was so cool...until an hour after wearing the newly dried but unwashed shirt. Caused a rash in the middle of my chest and giggles from my family saying "you know...soap and water helps, you gotta wash stuff like that before you use it" common sense lesson I never forgot.

  • The problem is bleach is corrosive and color-fading effect is actually an indication that the fabric's condition has been greatly compromised.

  • That’s a great idea! Most clothing is black gray white or an ugly green! Hardship to find bright pretty colored clothing! Walmart is the pits…but we can get bleach there! 😅

    • The reason why we are stuck with drab colors is because men decide on the color choices. I asked a lady when I bought glasses why the colors were brown, black and so drab. She explained it is a man's world and they decide. Made sense to me.

  • So this is proof that 5 minute craft can make quality videos without it being straight up trash yet they choose not to! Remember that everybody they can do it they just choose not to. I just find it hilarious that they keep doing it knowing that they will get far more enjoyment and reaction out of people by doing better videos this entire video was legit. I have tried some of these crafts but no every other video I find is straight garbage do you hear me proven wrong DIY garbage!
