Frayed and un-hemmed jeans are a huge trend right now with designers across all price points getting in on the action!
It's a great way to add a little texture and visual interest to a simple pair of jeans you already own. For most of these DIYs, all you need is a pair of good scissors and a washing machine and dryer.
While I do sew a few items, I will explain how you can use Fabric Glue, as well.
Have fun!

Hello Orly, I just found you recently and want to thank you for sparking my imagination. When I worked in the '70s , 80s, 90, up to 1995, I made everything I wore except bras and panties. Even made and designed swim suits. Then I went to university while raising a son as a single parent, then went to work. Now I'm 63 and just moved out to a beautiful country location. I have a sewing work table my dad made for me years ago, a sewing machine, a serger, time, everything I could possibly want or need .... but no inspiration ... that is until I started watching your videos. I'm really excited about using some of your ideas to see what I can come up with! Thank you so much! You are smart, refreshing, beautiful, and have great ideas and present everything so well.
Thank you for sharing!
I use a good stiff hairbrush to fray the denim , put the threads outside for the birds in your yard to make nests, your tutorials are fantastic!
thanks Debbie!
Oh yes! The birds use our dogs fur!! ❤️
So happy to hear when someone else is looking out for the animals in their area. Such a small gesture to leave out building materials for the birds but such a huge act of kindness! ❤️❤️
That’s a kind gesture, but baby birds get tangled in threads. Please reconsider leaving your threads for the birds.
Love your work. A suggestion if I may. Once you have made a start on undoing undoing the hem with the seam ripper turn it over so the ball part is on the inside. I saw this method on another channel and it stops accidentally cutting the fabric. It’s faster too.
Oh my gosh, while watching this I thought a cute fabric instead the denim on the bottom of the jeans would be Suuuper Cuuute too!!
omg yes!!!!
It's like you were reading my mind Orly! This is exactly what I've been wanting to do with some of my jeans. You teach techniques better than anyone.
Well that makes my day. Thank you!
True That Kelly B .. Orly is The Best ❣
Sustainability tip: keep the loose threads in your scrap fabric stash for stuffing!
YES ~ I always do that!!
whooooa! never thought of that!
I like the idea above to put it in your yard for the birds to use in their nests.

Why fray jeans at all and shorten their life?
First of all - GET OUT OF TOWN! These are so cool! I made the original frayed jeans when you showed it on H&F - I get complimented on them every time I wear them! But these others? Making them today! Whoa!
I love that mini iron! So need one of those!!
Cricut Mini Press
My favorites are the double layered & curved cut out with the sneaker jeans 👖🥰👟
sooo very easy!
Yesterday I saw so many styles in the mall and I really thought: I want that. And here you come. Thanks. As soon as I am back home in Germany (currently I’m in Denver) I will do this to a couple of my unworn jeans. Together with a former hack of yours (paint / splatter) and use the remaining material for handbags 👜. I could get some glue (finally) at Michaels yesterday . Finally.
have fun!
Orly you are JEAN…UIS 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻Definitely trying all of these xPx
hahah have fun!
Girl, that lil baby iron almost took me out!! It's so cute. thank you for the ideas.
I m crazy about the last part of the video i was mesmerized to watch ur end part
Great ideas, love all the styles! Thank you 💖
I wonder if these Frankenstein pants look good on a short 60 year old. I really love how you recycle stuff … big fan . Keep up the good work
My mom is in her 70's and she looks so stinkin' cool with her jeans that have holes and different color jeans patching the holes.
My favorite pair are the dark patch/extended. Can’t wait to try these out.
My new spring jean creations!!! 😍😍😍 thank you so much Orly for the share! Your work is always amazing!!!
Loved all the fits so much 👌🏻 All pairs turned out so cool
Love the practical advice and the fun looks! ❤️👵🏻
LOVED this! going to try at least 3 of them! thank you for your energy and good vibes!
Hey Orly!!! I love this diy! I need to dig up my old jeans!💜
You do such an amazing job with all of your creative ideas. I absolutely love your style and your modelling sessions! I always have to watch right from beginning to end because there's something mesmerizing about you!

I can't thank you enough... amazing. Watched the video several times. Now is time to implicate
This will save so much money and the fit will be better because I can buy the best fitting jeans and make them look better. Thank you so much for showing these tricks. I love them!
Orly, thank you for the inspiration, I can’t say which pair of jeans is my favorite so I pick ALL!!! 😍😙😜😜😜
I’ve been binge watching you as I just discovered you last week! I feel like you’re the thinner edgy-er me I wish I portrayed. I would LOVE to see 2 videos from you in particular. Yes many others have done them but I feel like you get me! 1. Summer capsule wardrobe 2. How to style edgy looks and conceal a belly, a big non-prego belly. Thanks!
Yeah, a new video! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Love all the ideas, but those white Fringe jeans are outstanding!💕
I've worn them twice already and I love them WAY more than I thought I would lol
So great! Starting my first pair now! Thanks
My fav were the last in your model session. I like the way the angled hem looked with boots. Super cute, Orly!
thank you!
Just cause it may be helpful : the seam ripper is best used with the ballpoint inside the seam rather than outside, it prevents the possibility of puking the fabric with the pointy part ❤️ lovely and clever hacks as always!!
Great video Orly, love love love frayed Jeans. Thank you. Laura x
Such fun stuff-thanks Orly!
I love these ideas! Here’s another. Use your seam ripper in the opposite direction so the little ball is inside the seam. You can rip away. Good job.
Thank you so much Orly! So far I’ve tried the first one and I’m loving them! They came out perfect! So cool!
Hi Orly, I really love your designs. I just stumbled upon your tutorials and I love!!!! I am new to fraying and loving it!! Like the others said I’m so looking forward to trying some of these designs on my jeans and shorts. Thank you so much and keep the tutorials coming!!

I love that idea, my mother has a lot of those table covers from Paris and all over. Thank you for sharing. Fantastic video
I love all of them!!!
Just Fantastic. Thank you and a huge hug from Brazil.
My favorite are the slanted/angled edge with fray and the blue thread removal to expose the white thread! I feel like I understand the workings of jeans so much better now, thank you Orly! Yours is the perfect channel to watch on the weekends when I'm feeling crafty!
I just love you! You always teach me so much! I love this DIY for all the hems, and you always make it doable. But the greatest tip for me today was how to cover up the gaping slashes. I want to rock jeans until I die! Love that look, but self conscious about the skin. THANK YOU!!!!
You are so talented! Those are all so gorgeous and look great on you! I absolutely loved the angled ones at the end of your video! 💙💜💙
I did things like this 20 years ago 😁 great that diy is back.

Thank you so much for your content and keeping things interesting and up dated for your viewer's to be able to make use of things we have instead of filling a trash bag and landfill. I was able to save a sweater I love so much by transforming into a repurposed item. 😊🍀
Love love this Orly, will try them and tag you... Great upscale for denim👍🏾👏🏽👏🏽🤗

Your superpower is woman THANK YOU§!!
Orly got her groove back!!! Excellent video. Thank you.
Thank you thank you thank you so so much for showing us how to get the white horizontal threads isolated. I've tried to figure it out on my own without success, but now I think I can do it thanks to your tutorial. You rock!
Omg love them all, I see some frayed jeans in my future 🥰
I am loving the second pair of jeans and the wide legged jeans with the slit at the bottom. What cool ways to update jeans that were “so last season”.

Per Usche, Excellent Stuff! 🙌🏼😘...... Tailor Tip, when seam ripping jeans use the ball tip side of the seam ripper so you don't tear or snag the denim!
oh thank you!!
Per Usche? What language is this?
@@Ra-rg1vk per usual ……

thanks Madeline!! so glad you get some inspo here :)
I like the ombre effect that results from removing the bottom hem. That's pretty cool.
I love this!!
Getting out the scissors today to add a little fringe to my step! Thanks Orly! Great tips as always!
thank you! have fun :)
These are truly awesome. Ty
This is such a good way to style refresh some denim that have lost their place in your closet favorite status. Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come.
I loved every one of the jeans I’m trying every pair ☺️☺️☺️
told you... addictive ;)
There all so stylish. Thanks for sharing. 😍 I. appreciate it very much. 👍
THANK YOU so much for your ideas again. Now, I will try to 'fix" a few pairs of my jeans.
Thank you for the hem release tip, I too have a funky length red pair that will be getting this treatment soon! Amazing as always
haha so many funky lengths lately.
Genius! Love this vid. I learned a lot
Every one of them are very cute!! 😍
THANK YOUUUUU SO MUCH FOR THIS ❤. I've seen jeans similar to what you created.. I either couldn't find my size or didn't want to pay the price for them. However I have a pile of jeans I don't wear that can be altered for the same effect I'm looking for. YAY!
Love your style 💜
Im getting flashbacks to the early 00’s!! I cut the waist Off jeans and distressed other ones. Wish I still had some of them. I have super long legs, and awful scrawny ankles and calves, so going to try the extended versions, bc it is hard to thrift jeans that aren’t high-waters!
These are all so cute!!!🤗👖💜
Very nice, you come up with really good DIY. I love it.
thanks Tia!
Thanks for sharing love your videos. I have been saving videos with these ideas. I did see where someone else left a tip about not wanting the fringe to fringe anymore lol by sewing around the fray parts. I have a brand new sewing machine that I really need to get out of the box and start using.
