The generators are automatically destroyed when collecting the time stones, so it doesn't make sense to waste time by destroying them. The holograms are also useless objects that don't award points, items, or any unlockables, making them pointless to destroy. The *only* exception is the 2011 version of the game, where you get an achievement by destroying all holograms.

@@Frank-sp7vu It's about the same as Sonic Colors DS, it plays like the Rush games and has unique levels that werent on the console release. I don't think it has unique story missions like Colors did though. It doesn't really matter either way though since the challenge couldn't be completed anyway
To Truly 100% CD, you have to destroy all the Generators and Metal Sonic Holograms. You just beat it with the Time Stones.
Ya, also I would consider having to beat the games with the other characters also part of 100%ing it.
@TheJadeFist Only if there's anything different about their playthroughs, though. I wouldn't consider it necessary in Sonic 1 or 2 since there's no new levels or story for any of the characters, and I wouldn't consider Tails to be necessary in Sonic 3 because his playthrough is just a shorter version of Sonic's - same with Mighty, Ray in Mania.
Okay, well, he already didn't have time to finish it, so layering on more requirements doesn't exactly change the outcome. Like, he's still gonna not finish because that's just going to make Sonic CD take even longer. So like, you already saw him fail the challenge and decided to say "well actually you should've failed even harder!"? Does that really help anyone?
The only winning move with CD is to not play it at all.
It's optional to choose between destroying generators and get the Time Stones. You get the good ending if you meet just one of these conditions.

Sonic 1, Sonic 2 and Sonic Chaos on the Master System (ported onto Game Gear) are major releases. Sonic 1 & 2 SMS are also completely different versions to the versions seen on Mega Drive (yeah I'm not saying Genesis). Sonic 2 SMS was also ths first appearance of Tails. They can't be dismissed as minor releases commercially or historically. Sincerely Europe.

Also, you forgot a game: Sonic Generations 3DS. It is essentially a 2D sidescroller with boost mechanics (the act 2 of each zone is 100% original content). Also mercifully short, as long as you remember to preemptively farm Play Coins on your 3DS. You'll need them to buy the majority of the game's side missions. And be glad Sonic wasn't playable in Knuckles' Chaotix. That game has huge levels.

@@kingstarscream320 A collectible. The number of coins is displayed on the upper part of the lower screen. To collect them, close the 3DS and go out for a long walk. It counts your steps. Every 100 steps equals 1 extra coin. Though you can only collect up to 10 coins each day (1000 steps).

Never having gotten far in Sonic CD until Origins, I wanted to play the long way and just drink everything in (obviously for your challenge, going for the time stones was a far better plan). So I’d find a way to hit the past, then I’d reset the level, enabling me to search the entire past for those two thingies to destroy each level (one is optional but it makes the animals bounce around!), then I’d get to the good future and reset again to go through the whole level.

I love his Danganronpa discovery arc; he’s gone from just discovering it and using the game to consume time to getting interested to bringing up a conspiratorial reference to the second game, even finding a way to connect it to a sonic game… he is now truly a Danganronpa fan. You should've done 14 days again and added on the master system and Game gear games to the marathon as well.
One thing you forgot in Sonic 3&K is that after beating the game with Sonic, Knuckles has a story that takes place after Sonic's but the difference is that eggman is replaced with an egg robo, the levels have alternate paths exclusive to him, and the true final boss is Mecha Sonic that takes place in Sky Sanctuary with no death egg/doomsday zone.
These challenges are amazing! I don't think I'll ever tire from watching these, especially with the custom live edits for each day being so well done. Great job!

loving the marathon video series. i do have a suggestion though... I think it would be interesting to see you do a blind run of 100%ing a smaller series. I don't know if you've played it or not, but I think it would be interesting to try to 100% the Sly Cooper series in a week. only 4 games, (5 if you count the spin-off arcade game) but it takes a decent chunk of time. I think it would be interesting to see you learn how to 100% a game series that you may not be too familiar with
For Sonic Superstars, when you meant “Unlock all the Store Inventory”, are you also counting the ones from Battle Mode? I looked up an FAQ and it says you have to get a certain rank in battle mode in order to unlock them. I saw some videos on KZhead regarding the Grind to Max Rank and they confirmed it takes a very long time just to do it. I also saw a video description that saw you have to do over a thousands battles just to get the Legend Rank which is the Maximum Rank. Also, while I’m on the subject, have you done Battle Mode before on that Game?

Finally, the video I’ve been wanting after watching the Mario Marathon video and I’m glad that you’re playing the Sonic Origins version and not just playing them multiple times. I feel this can be done with practice on Sonic Rush Adventure beforehand. I would love to see a second attempt of this considering this is the first failed challenge. Obviously, you don't have to, but it is just an idea since yakkocmn barely beat all the 3d sonic games in a week so I highly doubt you can 100% them. This was a really great video to watch as well! These marathon videos are my favourite ones to watch from the channel. You should do an all Mario rpgs 100% in one week or maybe even include the paper Mario games in there and make it a 2 week challenge unless that’s too ambitious for you to do

Sonic CD is not just about get all emeralds. you have to get the good ending on all levels, playing, past, present and good future. That's why you finished it so fast.
To also get 100% on Sonic CD, you would have to find all robot generators and Metal Sonic holograms in each zone's past which I'm glad you didn't do because you would almost waste so much "time" getting 100% on Sonic CD and thank god you can get the good ending much faster with the Time Stones. Edit 1: If the next marathon is gonna be something like all the spongebob games (I highly doubt it might happen). Upon playing BFBB, go see the incredible bfbb speedrunner SHiFT. He is one the most renowned speedrunners that if he didn't exist, BFBB Rehydrated and Cosmic Shake would've never happened at all. He has a few speedrun tutorials that will save you an IMMENSE amount of time needed to clear the game 100%, just only the ones done easily as humanly possible like the SBA (Skee Ball Abuse) in Goo Lagoon. Maybe even invite him as a guest appearance in the video briefly explaining how the tricks work.

My guy forgot hyper sonic also can't drown, something super can die from, and the screen nuke. By double jumping, hyper sonic kills every basic enemy on screen. Yeah, hyper sonic isn't just super, he's stronger in at least 2 areas.
Technically in the 2D Super Mario games you‘d have to beat the Lost levels seven times. So I suggest doing a extra marathon for the Lost Levels
He left some things out because he didn't feel like they were necessary, which I feel is fair enough
I watched all the way until Superstars (Didn't wanna spoil myself for when I get it) but great job NB! Some of these games are just way too cruel, especially the Advance trilogy.

36:50 the areas on the map where Johnny is found are all shallows, so usually if you see a small shallow dot on the map thats always a hidden island or johnny
Sonic Advance was probably one of my first if not my first Sonic game, and I now remember what part of it looked like. Never really got very far AT ALL but I mainly remember playing as Tails because I just love him.
I have so many memories with Sonic Advance 2 and 3 on car rides. The soundtrack for 2 also has some bangers.

Props to you even trying to attempt this in the first place. 1000% agreed about Sonic Advance 2, I love the game, but I want to rip my brain out trying to unlock everything. I honestly never got to the true final boss to this day out of all the sonic games I've played in my life time
Sonic Rush is great and the ranking system is amazing. You only need to get 100,000 points in every act (5,000 for bosses) to get the S rank but doing so in the later acts can be a really fun challenge and you feel as if you earned that S when you finally get it
