One thing that slipped by during the PPE segment was hearing protection. Pan does know about this as I’ve seen him use hearing protection in his videos. Like he said, it may seem dorky, but it does make a difference. Air dryers, polishers, and vacuums are loud, and we do expose ourselves more than we realize. Great work as usual, Pan!
Thanks! And yes you are right, ear protection is also important. When I use my blow dryer to dry my vehicle, I wear ear protection as prolonged exposure to loud noises can affect your hearing long term.
I worked in the auto body repair trade from age 17 - 30 (I'm 56 now) and can attest whole heartedly to the need to protect one's hearing while using industrial tools and machines. I will live with Tinnitus for the rest of my life in large part because of the damage done during my time in that trade :(
Blow out an interior in direct sunlight sunlight and you'll see all the dust you actually get into the air. You can more than imagine what goes into your airways.
I heard Pan refer to hearing protection during Mistake #13.
With mistakes we learn and we make it faster by learning from experienced people so learning curve gets reduced
Absolutely! Happy new year Humberto!

Thanks for another great video Pan. I'm guilty of making four of the mistakes you pointed out 😞but now I know how to avoid them, I'll try not to wreck any more microfibre towels! Best wishes for the New Year and your continued success.

Pan, as in life, there are noooo shortcuts. All good points here. Shine on you crazy diamond!
Hehe thanks Audie!
Excellent video Pan as I remember struggling with many of these mistakes. When I first got back into detailing the confusion between a ceramic coating and wax was real. It took me a long time to realize glass cleaner does not degreaser the interior glass even though I knew this as a teenager. Did I struggle with applying to many layers of protection too. Have a happy new year Pan and thank you for all of your hard work!

Great video! I see you using a lot of Koch Chemie products. Would you do a video of their ceramic coating C0.02 next year? I would especially like to hear how the ease of application compares to other coatings you have used.
Happy New Year Pan, I am always learning from you. There were a couple of issues I didn't know. But for the rest I make sure to do them all. I did my first true detail & ceramic coating. Awesome thank you! Happy new year to you!
Hey Pan great video again. One thing that I would like to add is about microfiber drying towels. I've used 2 towels for about a year and I would use them with turtle wax flex wax and I did notice that the wax will not wash out. Even after several soaking in rags to riches they still don't dry like new. So I recommend to use dedicated towels for toppers or spray waxes and use different towels for when you're not going to use a topper. I hope this makes sense because it didn't dawn on me as to why my rag company towels didn't work anymore even after taking full care
Yes that can happen too. Flex Wax is super durable (more than a typical quick detailer) so there is likely a limit to what detergents can do.
I just throw away towels often n buy new - especially where coatings are involved.
@07wrxtr1 ya I bought new ones too but I'm using those old towels for drying aids and toppers.
@@07wrxtr1That’s rather wasteful isn’t it? I don’t care much about the finance part but more about the environmental aspect. I don’t have a solution but if someone else here does, that would be great!
Hi Pan great video, I'm sure everyone has made at least a few of these mistakes, i look forward to these videos, i have learnt so much from them over the years, i hope you have a great New Year
Thanks! Happy new year to you as well!
Another fantastic and informative (reminder) video. In spite of the recommendation and due to my hard-headedness, I will continue to use Turtle Flex Wax as a drying agent on my IROC which was coated with Armor Shield IX a couple years ago. Happy New Year, Pan.
You do what makes you happy. That works too hehe. Happy new year!
Pan has given me the confidence to learn how to machine polish my brand new Corolla in prep for ceramic coating, I'm excited.

Hi Pan, thank you for all the content. I think I need a little clarification on stacking of toppers. Just coated my car and it looks great. I watched an older video of yours where you used all Gtech products as a maintenance thing. I just purchased very one of them. But now, because one of the soaps has a protection in it, I’m not specifically sure when it’s okay to use the drying aid spray/topper product lol.
Excellent video as always Pan! I recently applied Gyeon Pure Evo. Love it but my car doesn't have quite as warm a glow as it would from a traditional wax. I was going to top with Gyeon Q2 Wax to hopefully add some additional gloss and warmth. In Gyeon's instructions, they say that Pure can be topped with Q2 Wax 2 weeks after coating. What are your thoughts with this specific combo/layering? Just curious because of your common mistake #1 - applying a wax on top of a coating. I am expecting product compatibility based Gyeon's instructions.
Another great video Pan! Happy New Year to you and our friends in Canada.. The mistake about the interior glass struck me the most... Can't tell you how many times, I've washed or detailed a car and the interior glass(especially the windshield takes 2-3 times before it's perfect. It speeds things up by taking the extra time/step to "clean" the windshield/glass with a detergent like Dawn or a high alcohol scrub, THEN using a product like Stoner or your favorite brand of glass cleaner.
Thanks!
Great info!
Great videos! Looking for some advice: I'm about to get a new car and I'd like to look after the paint much better than I am now. As someone who lives in an apartment, I'll need to do rinseless washes so I'm looking into getting a lot of the DIY Detail rinseless products alongside their decon cloth. I'm very new to this world, so I'm not super confident that I can properly apply a multi-year ceramic coating so I'm looking at using a multi-month ceramic sealant. What I'd like to understand is what the best practices would be for a rinseless process with a ceramic sealant: what decontamination steps should I follow, how can I do this by keeping costs and number of products down etc? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. For those wondering, I don't have funds to have the car detailed and coated professionally!
Learn more with every video, thank you. I plan this year to paint correct my 2018 Hyundai for the first time and am realizing how much work i have ahead... no short cuts. Fwiw on the PPE portion, using gloves all the time can also lead to skin conditions. A good idea for many is to wear thin cotton gloves under the nitrile or latex gloves.
👍🏻

Hey Pan, quick question if you see this! I recently 3 step corrected my cars paint and finished with a carnauba based top coat sealant as a final step. I wash my car weekly and always finish with a carnauba based spray wax as a final detail to reinforce the wax job after drying. I want to reapply this carnauba sealant every 3-4 months, I am wondering if I should clay my car prior to applying this wax sealant quarterly? Thanks and happy new year!

Hi Pan, That is some great advice that you give. The one peice of advice that really resonates with me is PPE (health is paramount). As an enthusiast detailer and employee in the chemical industry PPE is 'King'. You really don't what to be absorbing the chemicals you use through the pores in your skin. I can only echo Pan's comments in taking the necessary precautions. All the best for the New Year, Pan. Here is wishing you and your family a; healthy, happy and prosperous 2024. Thanks, John.
Well said John! And thanks for the kind words. Here's to a great 2024 for you as well! Happy new year!
Great stuff Pan. Very comprehensive! Wishing you a blessed 2024 from USA!! 🇺🇸 GGG 😎
Thanks man!! I wish you a great 2024 as well! And thanks for being so supportive of my channel. 👍🏻
PPE protection is really hit me. i have a tendency of not using glove even though i have tonnes of nitrile gloves in stock. Thanks for your sharing.
Thanks for watching Perry!
What’s up Pan the man! Hey what product do you recommend, to maintain your new head lights like new so that they don’t haze up if i park it outside. Thanks, appreciate any tips 👍🏽
I always rock yeti mtb gloves. I really like the black turq for driving/riding and detailing plus as a light winter glove. Also the Enduro glove. Do these protecr?
Merci Pan pour l'énergie et l'implication de partager, à autrui, tes connaissances sur un monde si vaste qu'il en est facile de se perdre si on ne sait pas par où commencer.
Merci! Bonne année à toi!
Excellent job I told my wife today after watching you that I wanted to be a car detailing person. Any classes or certifications that I need to be more professional on my new carrier? Thanks
Hey Pan! Your videos have gotten me excited about detailing my car! I’m a beginner and I was wondering if you could do a video on what would be the most efficient way to wash your car at a car wash bay! I don’t have access to a hose or anything but there’s a wash bay close to where I live and I’m trying to figure out a way to wash my car there
Thanks! Welcome to my channel. You discovered one of the biggest car detailing channels on KZhead as we surpassed 965,000 subscribers and we have over 130 million views! I have been detailing for 26 years and I love to share my knowledge and passion with my viewers. You found the right channel to help you learn everything about detailing. If you don't have a hose or pressure washer to wash your car, your next best option is a rinseless wash method. See my tutorial: kzhead.info/sun/o5lxiZmpiZZpgo0/bejne.htmlsi=kxtt1k0OvYSrclwe Or wash your car at a local wash bay by bringing your own tools and products, and see my tutorial on how to wash a car the traditional way: kzhead.info/sun/aq-ompmiaXepaI0/bejne.htmlsi=b5hO4HFH3lhoQaJN
On apprend de ses propres erreurs dit-on ! Mais c'est quand même bien de rappeler quelques règles pour nous éviter d'en faire trop .. merci Pan. 🙏
Hehe en effet! Bonne année!
HNY to you... Too !
Happy New Year Mr. Pan. What do you think of hand washing micro fiber towels? Would that be ok?? Thanks for all the great work/videos that you do.
I haven't tried hand washing, but if I had to guess it will likely never be as efficient as machine washing. It's like hand polishing, that will never get the same results as machine polishing.
Thanks for your reply . @@PanTheOrganizer
Hello Pan, You mentioned a detailing mistake was to add a wax coating to a ceramic coated vehicle. Which interested me greatly, as I was thinking of buying McKee's Rinseless Wash and Wax to use during the Winter months. Although not a seperate waxing product as such, would the McKee's Rinseless Wash and Wax still be a "no no" on my ceramic coated car? And lastly a Happy New Year to you; and please keep your videos coming!
Hey man, great and high quality video as usual. Regarding clay bars/mitts, do they cause swirls and scratches on paintwork when using them? I’ve never used them before
Traditional clay bars can cause marring on the paint. Some new perforated synthetic decontamination towels and mitts don’t cause marring if used correctly. See my video on the future of clay: kzhead.info/sun/eq9rYdaKh5pnna8/bejne.htmlsi=IWUqw3BLE1T6V4kb
Je te remercie pour tous ces bons conseils ( comme d’habitude) Bernard
26 years of cat detailing AND YOU a king of kings of a car professional of professionals of detailer❤❤❤ God blessed you and your family❤❤❤❤
Thanks Chris! 💪🏻👍🏻
Pretty crazy that we have come so far in terms of manufacturing quality and chemistry of our paints and coatings that we have an entire industry and hobby based on the maintenance of the microscopic damage of the clear coats that protect our paintwork.
Hey Pan …HNY to you and family.. Do you rate PTFE added to products like Wax for paint work protection .. thanks
Another great educational video! I’ve been planning to use Gyeon WetCoat on top of CanCoat. But now Im concerned about creating too many layers. Especially if I use a drying aid as well. Your thoughts on the CanCoat+WetCoat combo?
Yeah I would using WetCoat and then another drying aid after that. Just use WetCoat and call it a day. On your next wash, you can alternate and use another drying aid at the end of your wash process.
As usual, you’re the man! Thank you and happy new year
