In this 3000 point game The Rout are have cornered a detachment of Sons of Horus but the Sons of Horus are not alone. They have called in the Nightlords who will do what Nightlords do - counter attack at night. It's big, it's bloody, it's narrative as hell.

Loads of housework and a big stack of marking to do... but that can wait. Time for a Winters HH battle reports *pops the kettle on*
I imagine the Nightlord Terminator doing a clothesline on the falling-back Space Wolves.
HH on this channel takes me back to the good ol’ days. I haven’t watched a batrep on this channel in years, but if more HH is coming, I will definitely be back.
Horus Heresy has a very enjoyable narrative, and seems more dramatic and thematic to me...especially the melee combat which is crazy good. I love 40K 9th in semi competitive or narrative...HH though always has the most interesting battle reports. Great report with lots of excitement to the end.
One of the more interesting terrain layouts I’ve seen for a city battle. I love how diverse the buildings are and how it adds to the tactical aspect of deployment rather than just stagnant tournament terrain.
'Mate you must promise me one thing, never change the upload times man. You have saved so many sundays my friend. Best love form Norway.
You're the best!
I dont even play Horus Heresy, but when Night Lords show up on Winter's table, I watch!
I feel like ive been looking forever to find a NL new Edition HH report so thanks for doing this. They definitely seem as brutal as I imagined.
wait winters is doing HH batreps again that's awesome
Awesome battle report loving Heresy so much it’s brutal!
OMG Winters is back on Heresy! It was one of your games that inspired my WE and IW army. Seriously dood. Its been too long!
Seriously that battle was legend. Mech vs IW and WE.
Thank you for posting this - really great to see some Heresy finally. Much, much more please. Best wishes JJ
Hey winters! I would love to see a video of you putting together your battlefields and your thought process behind how you set up a balanced playing field. Thanks!
He did one awhile ago, like years back if you keep scrolling
yes! Awesome to see some heresy on the channel
Really been getting into the HH recently so I am glad to see this battle report.
Always cool to see some Night Lords
You know those Night Lords would never let those Sons of Horus forget how they saved their asses. Because that is exactly what happened. I highly doubt Night Lords would answer this call though. Still amazing batrep.
I mean that would likely depend honestly, afterall..these are our lovely bastards that got some nobility in darkness with sev, talos and even ophion. Plus as you say, its a moment to shove it to the sons of the warmaster
been looking forward to this!
I'm so glad I found this channel. I plan on coming back to 40K soon so this helps me get a taste for armies to choose from. I'm leaning towards either Dark Eldar or Tau
Brutal dice game I've never seen so many 5 up saves! Great game as always🥰🤩
This table looks stunning! Absolutely love the terrain set up
Great report, just 1 thing, a Spartan cannot transport more than 1 unit with attached characters no matter how much space is left over capacity wise, so it would have been the Warlord+Retinue or the Deathsworn+Speaker in there, not both (p211 of Rulebook). Only vehicles with the Super-Heavy Transport rule can take multiple squads.
Ahh sorry buddy, that's good to know! Will have to bring a mastodon next time 🤣
@@samnash1960 That escalated quickly meme moment :D
Yay! Been hoping you would finally get back into the HH scene.
YASSS! Winters Heresy! Been looking forward to this :)
So glad to see Heresy here again! Not playing 40k anymore so this was good to see as I do play 30k.
Epic game winters! Thanks guys for playing 👌
I thought we'd be without our winters this week . then sit down for tea on Mon and here we are .perfect tea eating content. cheers.ta.
Love seeing herecy battles. Great game and looking forward to more one small thing I'm pretty sure that night raptors are skirmish so they get +1 cover save. It is a small thing but makes a difference and you never take LD test from reactions
30k is army vs army 40k is book vs book and by book i mean stratagem...
Yes! HH is back for winters! I love it!
Hooray for heresy! Great game; great battle report.
That board!!! Lovely stuff
Wonderful good gentlemen
Wow wow wow! Waiting for for more heresy!
Hooray, Winters doing HH ... this is the way the game begins!
I started watching this when it first came out and I stopped. I forgot why until I saw the most unfortunate rolling I’ve seen in forever
Thank you for the video. If memory serves Reactions do not cause Moral tests to be taken. So the plasma squad would not have ran away on Turn 2.
Omg tytyty for Fiji legion showcase
Love the little touch of cotton for a great smoking machinery effect
Yes! Horus Heresy with Winters! Get in there! 🤘😁👍
“This is a 500 point unit!” Man that’s cheap compared to Gal Vorbak. They’re 600 with powerfists and Warpfire blasters. Great battle report!!
How on earth did you do those beautiful bases!!??
1:00:49 😭 Winters doesn’t remember how good HH can be. Even with bad 2nd ed.
3000 points!
Well done gents 👏 fighting the urge to buy a world eaters army.
Yey! Heresy!!!
👌 nice
just fyi to the space wolves player, you can't have more than 1 unit in each transport.
oh HECK YES!!!!!!!!!!
long live 30K!
SW heavy units such as the Cataphracti and Deathsworn get +1 WS on the charge. Because they cannot run and charge.
GG
Hey Winters, question: Did you roll for disordered deep strike with the raptors? I know with a MoS, any disorder rolls of a 1-3 count as a 1.
One of the FAQ items gave the option for a Master of Signal to turn off his vox disruptor so that he wouldn't hamper his own deep strikes.
how dare konrad curze does not get any chance to shine and show people why he was feared in novels
Ave Dominus Nox
Do games of HH generally go this fast in comparison to 40K games? I feel like we only saw half a game here. I don't play either, so I really don't know. :)
They're faster yes. Aprox an hour quicker to play.
The sons of horus took a step back, beautif6😆😆
Can I ask what you record with and what gimbal you use? We are trying to do battle reports for the channel I run but I am having issues finding what works well.
I use my phone
Winters, how long does it take you to set up the tables for these battles? You have to place all those stones each time, right?
About an hour
where they born in it, Molded by it
Ave dominus nox
Since the wolves tac squads can't charge out of rhinos why not just run them on the field, running and charging is pretty fast. Excited to watch the BR now and see why this is a dumb comment from me lol
aye you cant put more than one unit in a vehicle except for super heavies but the spartan is not a super heavy...
Deathsworn get +1 WS on the charge
Ahh cause there Heavy, that's good to know 👍
Bit strange the Wolves don't get the same night fighting thing the NL do isn't it? In lore they're meant to have better eyesight than other Astartes IIRC.
would be pretty broken if the space wolves get the night lords upgrades and all the extra consuls they can take already, night lords also do it via a technological thing it's like an infra red visor so maybe space wolves can see a little better but just not enough to ignore night fighting?
@@rubengerritsen6868 @Ruben Gerritsen Don't know about consuls, but it's one upgrade not all. Honestly I'm not even sure how it makes any sense, are we supposed to believe the Night Lords are the only ones who thought "hold up, maybe having IR/night vision modes on our helmet display could be useful"? As for the SW vision, Prospero Burns (I believe it was) described the Aett as essentially pitch black because the Wolves preferred it that way or something. It's been a while since I read it.
@Ryan Brewis The Nightlords live in pitch darkness. All the time. Their tech is built around the horror in the black. The Harrowing. They were born of the dark, the wolves are tourists compared to The Lords of the Night.
@@wintersSEO So they're a bunch of colossal vampire goth edgelords then, got it.
Hello Winters. I love your reports and your style. But I completely disagree with your assessment of HH as random=bad. First, HH is actually less deadly than 9th. Games actually go 4 or 5 turns without tabling. Second, having the same victory conditions and reactions makes the game more interactive, and more narrative, and more tactical all at once. By contrast, 9th is less random, yes, because there are literal buckets of dice being rolled, and rerolled and strategems played so that entire armies being removed in one or two turns. That is leas random, and it is also much less interesting. Meanwhile, armies are pursuing primaries and secondaries that are basically a form of solo play. 9th is an inferior game in terms of interactivity in every way. That’s not to mention the monstrously bloated catalog of stratagems, sprawling multiples codexes and endless updates and faqs to follow in 9th. And that’s why some of us can handle a vehicle damage table’s “randomness” over the inchoate chaos that is 9th edition overall.
I think I said Random = Good, and I think I've said that multiple times on live streams. Currently I'm enjoying HH much more than 40k. In the last month I've played about 15 games of HH and 5 games of 40k. Yes. I play a lot. I disagree with your assessment that HH is less deadly. Yes, it typically lasts until longer but I have found you can have very little left by the end. Also, I should note, that I don't play tournament 40k, I play Tempest or Open play and in those systems you rarely, if ever, table your opponent in two turns. Perhaps your experiences are different or your local meta is highly competitive, I don't know. But I like the sheer brutality that HH brings. The ruleset 40k has flattened the curve over time, deliberately so, allowing players to mitigate the extremes so as to make it more appealing to competitive play. 9th ed is known as the tournament edition for a reason and tournament players dislike variable RNG mechanics. The HH ruleset is written with narrative in mind and I prefer that type of ruleset. Of course, these are my experiences of the game systems and yours will be different. Stay safe. Big hugs.
Yeah I went back to your HH vs 40k videoand about 90 mins in you say you like HH better! My bad. You also seemed surprised when your guest and he liked HH better at the end of this vid. But I think we are actually in full agreement. My local 40k scene is all about tabling each other asap, and our HH scene is very narrative. That certainly changes my view. Here’s hoping 10th is more like HH!
I disagree about the fact that hh is less deadly, every game I play or have seen played ended up with somebody being almost or completely tabled
What can I say we must have a gentlemanly HH scene here.
@Thule Magna It's so cool. So much more going on with both armies at the time. Timing is key.
I POG whenever the host says "Yezzz"
HH seems way too complicated
It’s just getting your head around the keywords, after that’s it’s really easy to play, not worrying about stratagems, auras etc.
It is so weird watching this as a 40k player. None of this makes any sense. LOL
The Waffle House has found it’s next host
game is no good unless the primarchs on table lead the army's
Never seen such a bad roller vs such a good roller
