Buying the cheapest Porsche 718 Cayman s could have been a huge mistake, which was then followed by more mistakes in the previous video. But never the less ive decided to give the Porsche new life and begin to rebuild it. The budget will be tight on this one but i have confidence i can pull this off!

Next week - Episode 4: rebuilding crashed damaged Boeing 747
😂😂
He should buy the Antonov Mriya
Along with the house and garden it crashed into... for super cheap!
It’s just a flesh wound.
😂😂😂
Please parents show your kids this guy. Never ever have I seen someone with such determination. So many life skills to be learnt by this man. A true entrepreneur.
The video editing and production is mad impressive on top of talking to camera and doing all the repairs
Once you'd removed the old panels and the parts arrived it starts to look less stressful and more logical to put back together 💪🏻 Really enjoyed that destruction 😂
“I need to be extra careful with this Porsche” *immediately crashes into ramp* 🤣 love it!
I’m excited to see how this car looks when it’s finished
You can google it, it should look like a 718 Cayman S, lol. :-D
Where did you exit to? 🤣
@@clearviewwm8837 it will look more like a gt4
Blacked out for sure

Hi Mat, I really cant believe you never covered the dash board ant parts that the hot grinding sparks were flying every were . are you going to replace them as well ?????
I had a 981 Cayman S, converted GT4 front end, all OEM Porsche. Removing parts was easy and you're right about the quality, you'd expect more for the money. Door cards stretch and warp, headliner sags. Driving experience is amazing tho. More power on the rebuild, can't wait for the finished product knowing your workmanship. I bet it'll finish amazing.
I absolutely adore companies that easily provide you with all of the parts required, well done to them! Definitely does not look as scary as at the start, nicely done!
Tell you something matt you have some balls dude 🤣🤣🤣,think it's amazing how you just get stuck into the builds and go with the flow i wish I had your drive when I was your age but good luck with it all and you are definitely entertaining fella really look forward to seeing your posts excellent cheers
Although it will make more work for you, I would recommend that you try to remove everything from the chassis that is already provided on the replacement quarter panel assembly. That way, there are fewer chances for parts to be misaligned. Just one BIG one, and it's actually pretty easy to align it correctly, using the door gaps as your guide in the front, and the deck lid as your guide in that area.
Ah man, you've come a long way since you were crawling around on the drive of your old house with your first rebuilds. Now look at you, stripping apart the bodywork of a Porsche, having a go and getting a genuine Lol out me with your Porsche "commercial" 😂 Keep going Matt, you're one of best channels on YT.
Mat, thanks a million for these videos. You're such a determined and positive guy, and when there is a setback, you don't revert to swearing. And that makes this channel - for me at least - such a joy to watch!
Hi Mat, definitely one of the best videos I've seen you make, lots of content and better still lots of good humour. . That's what us Brits are known for and it is great to see you enjoying the build with us fans. 😉😘🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥳🥳🥳🥳🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
@TOM he must be ‘having a laugh’😂
Are you having a giraffe
@@keithgreen9009 he definitely wouldn’t understand 😂
@TOM sorted 😉😂😂😂😂😂
@@keithgreen9009 nah mate a bubble bath 🤣🤣🤣
By far the best car channel on KZhead! I love how transparent you are with cost and love watching you get excited about bit you buy! Looking forward to to this build!
Brilliant seeing your progression & you pushing the boundaries with the bodywork repairs, not just bolt on panels anymore, would enjoy seeing you practice welding & painting, i reckon you could pretty much achieve anything with the confidence & perceiverence youve got, keep up the hard graft mate 🙂👍
Mat - you and your videos are nuts, but in a good way. Even the sponsored parts are always delivered in your unique and fun style. Great work and great fun. Can't wait to see how much Porsche is left before you start putting it back together. 👍🤣👍
❤🇿🇦 Let's go 🇿🇦❤

Always impressive, the thought of tackling these rebuilds without ever doing it before is mind blowing👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I love how transparent matt is to the point he literally breaks down exactly how much it costs to do a build like this for our own info. You one of the realest on this platform g
Got to hand it to you Matt, entertaining and yet very honest with your work.... And what a hard worker this guy is, really shows that he is grafting for real and prepared to work for his rewards 👍
The builds just keep on getting more involved. Not a Porsche fan at all but this looks like being a great build. Looking for updates on the Aston as well.
I have absolutely no interest in car restoration but I'm really fascinated and even hooked on what you're doing here! I'm can't wait for the next episode!
I knew a restoration artist, he was working with Maseratis, and building out Shelby Cobra kits. He wasn't too fond of Porsches... said they were a rich man's Volkswagen. You seem to be discovering this as you dig around. Great to watch... stay fearless!
Fantastic video Mat. Great as always to see you tackle the unknown and let us see how these things can be done. Can't wait to see the rest of this build. AWESOME.
South Africa 🇿🇦 marking the register
Mat, honestly, you've got this channel to a fantastic level. Great projects changing things all the time: I love it!
Love it Matt. Not Scared of any challenge. The car will Look Stunning, for sure.
Absolute respect to you Mat for taking on this project! Looking loads better already since removing all the bad panels!
Great video as usual. But i would have put covers over the interior and dash. look forward to seeing it finished👍
This is an absolute monster of a rebuild you've taken on! Some may call you crazy.. others.. well sod anyone who dislikes what you do.. personally, I love watching the process and the way you present the videos. Looking forward to PT.3
I'm finally caught up with al the videos on this channel (just found this channel a month ago and I watched every video since).. all. I got to say is: What an awesome trip that was.. From a simpel Audi TT to a freaking Lamborghini to now this Porsche Cayman. I love what you do, not always the customization but that's a difference in taste and I still respect the effort and workmanship. I'd one day love to have such an amazing hobby like yours.. Keep up the amazing work and don't let anyone tell you to not do something on a car 'because it shouldn't be that way'. Your projects are awesome
I just wanted to say thank you very much form my heart, because of you we are getting to see the in's and out of super cars and how do you tackle the issue also something which we shouldn't do it's just an experience and a lot of learning for me and my friends who loves cars !! I came across your channel randomly during the Aston Martin build, but i don't regret it, i have even watching your old videos as well and can't wait for the next one! Lol of love ❤️❤️❤️❤️ and support
Mat, love your videos, your inspiration to others and of course your unrivalled passion for everything you do. As a ex panel shop guy I dealt with all heavy repair this Porsche was typical of our repairs, but I would have gone mental if those seats weren’t removed and dash covered from those grinder sparks my OCD is triggered. 😂 Desgin 911 are great guys.
Hope you put this one up to win when you've finished mate, looking forward to watching the rest of the rebuild. Good work fella!
So much work on that car Mat😱 doing a top job🫶🏽👌🏽👏🏽 happy to see some of your funny asides back again, brilliant mate🤣🤣😂👍🏽
Mat, You are a legend fella. I so look forward to your videos and your positive can do attitude. I'd never have the courage to do what you do. Your confidence is inspiring to many of us. Can't wait to see the next videos of the Porsche and your other projects. Cheers
Im excited for this rebuild idc what you say you are a certified mechanic at this point. You’ve done more than regular mechanics!
What a fun video Mat! Never change brother, you’re so much to watch 🤙🏻
I have recently found your site and I am blown away with the quality of both your car rebuilds and the professional quality of your video’s, you have a new subscriber, can’t wait to see part 3 of your Porsche Caymen rebuild and upgrade, absolutely brilliant, very well done. 👍
Cannot wait to see the rebuild! Love how your always pushing yourself further with each build Mat!
Rebuilding a rear quarter panel is just pure Engineering skill ❤️ Cant wait for the GT4/ GT4 RS Replica🔥🔥🔥 You should defo do an engine change from a Flat 4 to a Flat 6 engine
the engine is the only thing that isn't damaged LOL
engine isnt a flat 4. its a 5 cylinder. basically same engine in the rs3
@@TonyTubeSteak it is a 4 cylinder. It only churns out 350hp as well
@@TonyTubeSteak also should mention the GTS is a flat 6
@@TonyTubeSteak it is a 2.5 Flat 4 engine
Great result with the parts Mat. I love your carefree attitude towards this project but i get the feeling you've done your research and know what your getting into. 😀😀
12:37 - "The Cayman S Convertible" . . . . . hilarious! 🤣🤣
Only been watching for the last 2 or 3 months, but @Mat I have to say I like your format. Instead of saying what you are going to do, then repeat as you do it. You do as you go along, I hate when shows that do that to elongate the run time. Nice work, keep her lit, yeeeooooo.
I love this feeling of absolute certainty that you will not only repair that pile of crap but make it beyond perfection! You are a monster Mat, go go go
Another great video and great project Mat. Looking forward to seeing how this progresses. Just a pity you can’t be cloned so you can put out more content 😉
From experience, it's always better to drill out the spot welds as it makes it a lot easier to get panels back in their true position.
Yet another top quality video I've watched yourself and channel grow from the very start first time ive left a comment but wanted say I've always had to stop what I'm doing to watch the latest Mat Armstrong video i find your content highly entertaining and inspirational to see the passion and hard work put into what you do and do so well ,,BIG RESPECT mate 👍
After watching the first videos I was thinking, man this is going to end up being a money pit. But now I'm really enjoying watching the process Matt and I love your enthusiasm.
Mat keep up the good work I love it how you get a really hard car to fix and don’t give up until the project is finished. Keep it up 🔥
Huge respect for this dude rebuilding the car for hours and all the body parts of it are costly expensive, but still focus on rebuilding also filming while doing the work and imagine the edits takes
Amazing as always to have the confidence to take this on. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
The growth has been crazy so happy for you Matt ❤️🥂
Much respect to you for taking on such a big job. I'm sure that the end result will be totally worth all of it.
Found your vids recently and now I'm hooked! You're a natural presenter and the content is bang on. Brilliant 👍🤩
I am so glad you are taking on this challenge, so excited to see this build man💪🏽 always always always have to push yourself in life and you are doing exactly that!!
really like your choice of buying the cayman, although I hope at the end when you're probably going to wrap it you'll wrap it glossy. Glossy looks imo way better on a porsche :)
There was another way to find out how to remove roof, wait for new one and look at weld points
Too much sense for you
Really enjoyed this one and looking forward to the rest of the build, keep up the great content
Every project gets better and better. The increasing complexity is impressive! Awesome work!
Good grief this guy is nuts but I can't wait to see the finished product, keep it up Mat.
So glad you've gone for the GT4 kit, can't wait to see the end product!
Great content as always Mat, really like the open book format of costs on your builds now it really gets us all closer to give projects 👍
Honeslty don’t know how you can keep motivated doing this. What a job 🥱. Massive respect to you mate
Great work tackling this build Just love your have a go attitude!!!
This build could very easily end up being the best one yet Mat! Fantastic start with the car, and some awesome ideas coming together too! 👌
You're attitude attacking these projects is awesome man. Encourages me to do my own work with greater enthusiasm! Can't wait to watch the next one!
Another great video, you’re just getting better and better. Loved the removing of the roof
One of the best Videos you have done 👍🏻 pushing the boundaries on what you can do, love it 😊😊
Glad you were able to save the door mirror! Looks like another amazing project.
This is massively upping your rebuild stats! Sick work man, I love watching this
Your style of repairing is so satisfying watch ♥️
Mat you are one brave man!! Good for you show the other so called savage builders how it should be done carry on the good entertaining work you always do.
Matt I’m really enjoying your creativity you are putting in your videos. You have the perfect balance of info, car stuff and fun. Keep up the great work.
You make some of the absolute best content- great work and exiting projects 👊👍👍👍
You my friend are a universal force of nature. Inspiration {squared} ×determination {cubed} =any possible outcome minus a shed load of money. One thing I have learnt from watching is the cosy deal insurance companies have with companies like Copart. I wanted to buy my car from my insurance company and they refused to sell it to me. Instead they gave me a rubbish amount of money. Not enough to replace the car. My old car is now back on the road.
Your editing skills are simply AMAZING Matt. Bravo!!!
Have to admit, last episode I thought the damage was a lot worse than it actually is. That Porsche actually seems pretty well designed for repairability, lot better than the Aston for sure. Looking forward to seeing the rest of this rebuild, it's shaping up to be a nice project.
Best info I read on here is to put the doors on to align other panels there factory set, in general though one car is put together much the same as another great to watch 👍
Working through all your vlogs. Hard to believe the amount of work you put in to achieve a quality road worthy standard.
This is absolutely brilliant Mat. You are an inspiration!
;) In Motorsport you can get complete sets, including bumpers, hood and front lid, doors ... all ready to be mounted. You are really brave to fix it without a repair bench. In motorsports it would be noticed as a minor problem... we got four 718/981 on the track... every single one minimum once really shortened ;)
Sometimes with project car's you have to take a step back to move forward ! Loving the Porsche build fantastic content Matt 😁👌
Cant wait to see this build done and the more you get in to it the less worrying it gets well done mat and the team looking forward to seeing this finished
Haven't watched one of your videos for a while, your production standard has improved to a much higher level 👍 I once rolled a Hilman Imp where every panel on the car was bent much like this Porche. I wasn't belted in either and didn't get a bruise or scratch. It all depends on whether you hit something solid and as long as you don't come to a full stop you'll be ok. Wouldn't take that chance now and always belt up
Great work. Love how you work it out as you go along. Fair play lad !
Can I just say that I’m late to the party however your videos are gradually having such a positive effect on my life. Your drive, your humour, your work ethic - you are an inspiration and in a world of so much doom and gloom, you provide such a welcome outlook on life itself. Good on you. And all the best.
Great video Matt 👍 You've got grit taking that on. I've no experience of spot weld drills but from others I see there are some out there that really work. Nice job fella 😁
Mate well done and thanks for the ongoing video's you do
Love from Zim🇿🇼bruv This build is going to be fun as it seems like its uncharted territory for Matt🔥🔥
Another amazing project. Absolutely love your channel Mat!
Really enjoying this journey - you're right to get excited when you get shiny new kit!!
I have no idea why I am watching this after I stumbled onto it. But it is awesome and Mat's enthusiasm is very watchable.
Love the advert 😂 sick work as always mate, lot of work this Porsche! Out of all you’ve done I think it’s this one I’m buzzing about most! Pleasee keep it and turn it into an amazing track car! 😎
So enjoying this 3rd instalment of outstanding work . Congratulations 🥳
I'm not a car person but all your posts are very entertaining. I find it interesting how these "high end" cars fit together. Keep posting and thamks
This is turning out to be the best rebuild so far. Amazing to see how this Porsche can have so many panels swapped out.
Amazing, i admire your determination - brilliant video
Mat; you could consider re-colouring the burgundy leather to make the seat all black, if you don't wish to source new seats. It'll be far less expensive than getting new seats in the colour you prefer and then having to sell the one's you have! When you said about throwing all of the broken items out, I guess you mean once the car is completely finished, as the last thing anyone would want, is to find you need a clip or a part that was salvageable, but it's gone off in the skip and you end up buying another one? You're doing great here and I'm lovin' the content. Thanks mate!
Loving the series 💗💗
