"Don't take too long, David. There's a shortage of wheelchairs in the city." Coldest threat ever.
Richie Aprile Soprano's style cold.
God, I loved this show, but my sister practically lived for it. Who can't relate to Bill Bixby? Does anyone NOT wish he had the ability to tell a jerk, "You wouldn't like me when I'm angry" and actually back it up by hulking out?
It Sure would've been Epic in my GradeSchool days, especially H.S Days,as well as the first few years after H.S. So Many Weight Bullies that I dealt with back in the day. It'd still be Great these days. People would be more courteous and listen to me more.
Not me the transformation would hurt badly
I would. After I hulk-out, I'd beat up all the punks, just smash their faces hard! Send 'em all to the hospital... right into the E.R. That'd show them not to even DARE eff with me.
@@reddhead2948 well you would go through alot of shirts and shoes but it still would be cool to hulk out
@@robertdecker146 A
The fact that he could change into the incredible hulk saved his life more times than he could count. He also saved a lot of lives. Becoming the hulk was his destiny
Yeah like this is his gift like why couldn't he see it though like the Hulk is his superpower
He probably wouldn't have been in any of those situations if he was still working in his original lab having never become the Hulk.
@@HariSeldon913 maybe but becoming the hulk has helped him save a lot of people
And become his curse.
@@davenierop1540 who would want to become a 7" foot 400 lb green man ripping out of their clothes all the time and waking up not knowing where you are???
Lou Ferrigno the legend
I always loved how humble and mild mannered David was, even though he could have just taken the shirts. He puts money in place to replace them.
David is a good man.
He did the same, after his first transformation, in "The Incredible Hulk Returns".
David is a kind person. He can't help but help people, even though he only wants a cure.
I mean sometimes he just borrows it from people
Real shit
I have to give David credit. To get out of that room with three thugs surrounding him was pretty cool. And of course in spite of having little money he leaves cash to cover the the clothes he took off the line. Stand up dude.
Not a Flat Out Theif like Henry Cavill's Superman.
В
Tony C-And of course the shirt Banner takes off the clothesline just happens to fit him, and that there's no one around to witness the theft.
Yeah and where did those running shoes come from ,after all when he is hulk theres no shoes on his feet, but after changing back hes wearing trainers lol

He such a nice guy. When the Terminator takes somebody's clothes, he NEVER pays.
Terminator was to cheap to pay up
Convenient how every laundry line he found had his size.
@@HariSeldon913: Yeh, that was funny. I suspected because he wasn't that big and just grabbed the first baggy shirt he found. It was sweet of him to leave that cash there.
The Terminator is a robot. lmao
Lou was in great shape here. Remember when knocking over a forklift with one hand was enough?
His jeans were cut in half as Hulk, but when he transforms back to Banner he's wearing bell bottoms.
You missed the Nikes he was wearing also when he came back LOL
Where ever he ends up. Always clothes available, it fits him and he always has cash in his pockets.
They goofed up on that scene.
Season One and early Season 2 was where it was at for me with this series. What I really liked was every time David triggered the Hulk Out, he actually looked pissed off, like here. The later episodes never felt like the Hulk Outs were because of anger, it always felt like it was because he was in a situation where a Hulk Out just had to happen. They just felt less natural by the time you got to Season 3, which felt really kiddy friendly and commercialised by then. Season One/early Season 2 felt a little darker and more grown up.
The Pilot Episode, the Sequel (Death In The Family) and (ESPECIALLY) Season 1 were the best. I love the soundtracks...especially the soundtrack where the Hulk is running through Times Square later in this episode.
@@3912James yess. I love the Married episode.. Escape from Los Santos, Kindred spirits , No escape. Those r good ones where David looks actually angry and has fear plus the episode was good.
I saw a documentary and they had to have at least 2 appearances and they were running out of creative hulk-outs.
Because my favorite season is season 1
I agree, those first couple of seasons the Hulk was definitely more KICK@$$.
Man such an honor to meet Lou Ferrigno, he made my day after not being able to walk been depressed and my day was made when I met The Real Incredible Hulk Lou Ferrigno the nicest guy.

@Frederick Wells I heard a little bit about that show but haven't seen it. What's interesting is there's a episode of the hulk called the magician where he transforms in the water tank.
@@d.fortner6653 that episode was titled “My Favorite Magician” in a nod to his previous shows “My Favorite Martian” and “The Magician”

"This is going to be fun for them" No, I don't believe that it is...
The looks on their faces was the best part.
I don't care who or how strong you are charlie horse..still hurts 😂😂😂😂😂
That was not a charley horse . He got poked in the leg with a forklift 😄
@@fatcatnwo If that forklift forks hit a regular person, they wouldn't probably lost a leg or damage it for life. You can imagine a forklift is a powerful machine with thick forks and if you run into something, it's pretty much over. As the Hulk, he can still be hurt and still feel pain, like any other times when David Banner or as the Hulk when they get hurt bad, it's always when he turns into the Hulk for the second time that heals his wound completely.
as the series progressed, hulk actually got smarter and started using his head more
He became more human.
And the criminals got more ignorant and dumber to pick on poor David.
This is my favorite TV show ever, and my favorite Hulk. But they would always be so wide ranging in his healing powers. He survived a broken neck, no poisons hurt him, Married episode his blood/tissue would cure Lou Gehrig's Disease...even acidic gas in one episode. Yet he gets hit with a forklift and his leg is still sore.
They try to make the Hulk realistic as possible.
There was also an episode where he passed out from a car explosion.....AFTER he turned into the Hulk. Then he got amnesia. It was weird.
@@LoneWolf81684 yep
Have you ever felt the forks on a forklift truck? Those things are SOLID!
@@TallSilentGuy true they are. It's still the greatest TV show ever.
Bill Bixby was quite the gymnast, how he flipped over whatever on any given episode and came up The Hulk 😂
I was thinking about Bill's previous role as "Anthony Blake-The Magician" when he made those moves!!!
Man, I was to glued to this show as a kid. Standing by for when he battles the other doctor who created that serum and became a hulk. All I remember is that it went down in the “country” somewhere. Small town Cali I guess.
It always kills me how the bad guys jump to wild conclusions about a guy as innocent as Banner.
Me too! I have a theory that it was racial profiling before it had a name. Always, it was white Anglo guys who gave David grief. I suspect because David was part Native American, some whites pegged him as shady or suspect.

If you have ever worked with forklifts you had to have felt that.
According to the writers, Bill and Lou were never on set together except for a few scenes and that episode on the Beach. When you had the Hulk scenes Bill was at home for the day.
Everyone has their breaking point, including David.

He was!
He got his calf muscle banged the the forks of a forklift truck. Even the Hulk would have felt that!

You'd like to think at some point, he'd probably figure out a way to actually trigger his transformation, at will, and somewhere twords the end he just accepts his fate and tells the world he's not dead, it was just a lab accident that got out of control
Except the Hulk is wanted for murder and there's no way to prove he didn't do it.
David got in a couple of good blows as David and not the hulk.

I was quite surprised that David didn't need to transform into the Hulk again to break down that door. The only thing that I remember about this episode as a kid was when David left some money on that clothesline after taking those clothes.
Good Memories !!
That must be hell on the body going back and forth between David and the hulk. I've always been curious to what that must have felt like
Lesson: Hanging out with the wrong people can get you into the valley of the not-so jolly Green Giant!!😆
Never understand why he always looks worried in these situations, I'd be strutting around like an exaggerated Liam Gallagher giving it the full attitude.

Like, how many times can this guy wind up in trouble? I watched it as a kid, but it is so ridiculous...literally getting his ass beat everywhere he goes.
I guess it would be hard to hulk out playing chess or checkers :) Yep cheesy story lines endless beat ups
It’s because he involves himself in other people’s problems, despite his own self interest. When he encounters someone in trouble, he can’t just do nothing. It speaks to his background as a doctor.

Racial profiling before it had a name. Lots of blatant racism then...David was part Native American and always it was white guys who beat him up. As much as I enjoyed the Incredible Hulk series as a kid, I had hope Lou would have eventually won the Mr Olympia after Arnold’s retirement. The Hulk shooting schedule prevented Lou from training for the Olympia. But it did launch his acting career and made him a household name.

A little blooper I noticed right off the bat was when he changed back. All of a sudden, he had shoes and socks back on. It was particularly noticeable when he climbed the steps to get the shirts off the clothes line.
The forklift hurt Hulk's leg? I don't think so. It would have just made him madder. And "The madder Hulk get, the STRONGER Hulk get."

In the hands of lesser writers, directors, and especially actors, this series would've very easily been a colossal mess from the beginning.
how come no one ever sees him transforms?? LoL And how about his pants? never gets ripped off? And the shoes? what happens to them???
Hulk smash.
You know when David takes his first step after his transformation and almost collapses on his injured leg his first thought was “Damn! And I heard there was a shortage of wheelchairs in this town!”
Yeh...probably also, *Sh!t...good thing I was the hulk when the forklift hit me...else I'd be in huge trouble.*
to see the hulk affected by getting poked in the leg by the forklift then limping off was kinda of disappointing. I know this isn't the comic book version that can survive nuclear explosions, but david when he turned back was still hurt from getting poked from the forklift. this hulk has a very weak healing factor
Nooooooooo that’s what made this better and more believable. That it wasn’t comic like where he could throw tanks over mountains like a frisbee
That's because the suits didn't want to spend the money necessary on special effects. Too bad considering the huge ratings the show enjoyed week to week.
@@michaeltruthson6262 I think the appeal was that it was more human than superhuman actually plus the lonely man theme
It wasn't necessarily weak, just so hit or miss. No poisons hurt him, no disease, survived a broken neck, acidic gas etc etc. Yet, yeah, a forklift hurts him. 🤷🏼♂️???
Lou never skipped leg day
So this episode was filmed in New York City? (same location as McCloud (though they used the Universal backlot for most scenes) and Kojak)
I HAVE SOMETHING SEPARATE TO SAY INVOLVING A FEW IDEAS FOR (HULK) & BRUCE IN A SERIES: Now I can imagine in a different dimensional realm there might be an alternate version of Bruce Banner; He has a 3rd. new love interest who is a female InHuman, and not only that I envision that their romantic relationship gets so strong that 2 years later they get married, and then later have kids of their own that are born with both of the same abilities, and to add powers that BRUCE & InHuman wife has. In addition I imagine that Bruce Banner’s first child is a baby girl, I imagine that she is born with more of his wife’s powers than his powers, and I imagine that he hero name could reflect on two things; One is what type of person she grows up to become, and the second is what type of powers she has. I also imagine that Bruce’s second child that is a baby boy, I imagine he is born naturally with more of his father’s abilities, and powers than that of his mom’s, and to add I imagine that his hero-name could be either (HULK Jr.) or maybe (HULK the 2nd.) or maybe (BIG GREEN). Now I can imagine a number of female INHUMANS that might be a great match for (Bruce Banner) in the different realm; The first I imagine is (Auran) the second is (Quake) & the third is (Kora). Plus to add I imagine that the fourth InHuman female on the list; Is an alternate version of (Paripan) that I envision being born half InHuman & half Sorceress, and I imagine it is do to who her biological parents were; So I envision that Paripan’s father was a InHuman, and I envision her mother was a powerful sorceress, and there for when she was born I imagine that she was born with magic, and then later she had awakened her InHuman powers. “Now I imagine all these sets of events could be used for either a MARVEL cartoon show series, or for a MARVEL live-action show series.”
You have a hell of an imagination.
Neat...interesting!
I have a thought that maybe David finds an antidote for his condition by the early 1990s, doesn't die until the early 2000s. Bruce is his nephew and Bruce later has a daughter who looks like David. David retires close to a reservation where lots of those from his tribe live. David gets more closely in touch with his Native American roots and even contacts his beloved mum from the great beyond and she gives him valuable guidance. He also grows closer to his sister as well. David and his sister pass on the tribe's traditions to Bruce and to Bruce's daughter, Susan, who meets a descendant of Wonder Woman. Perhaps Susan is bi and marries and has kids with Wonder Woman's descendant. David passes in a peaceful way in the early 2000s, perhaps at a Native American homelike hospice.
Actually while looking at this scene in which "David"(Bill Bixby) was running from the thugs and especially JUMPING OVER BOXES (NOT A STUNTMAN!!) how ATHLETIC HE WAS!!
4:14 imagine that thing was more up and more in middle
Hulk can smash tanks, take rockets fired at him. But in this series he could throw a crate full of hay.
