@@Kristenhas3cats I believe he does. He had the thumbs down moodlet when he was making nectar. But James is primarily doing it to unlock the vampire nectar, so Vlad's gonna have to suffer for a little while longer. :P

@@VisualMind Is your balcony sheltered? If it is, then it is considered indoors. If there's no shelter then, it's outdoors. Otherwise, it will be just another bug I guess.
I don’t think you need to cut the gem in order to charge, or make jewelry. you can charge as a crystal set it in a room and all sims around the charged gem would benefit from the gem’s properties.
@@gnelianayes but everyone is rarely in 1 room for long to gain crystal benefits that way. I think his intention was to cut enough into gems for jewelry so the household can each wear them for effect wherever they might go.
@@loraelstad8941 but it would cut the time. With copy pasto they already have enough crystal to get one in each room. And they can always have crystals charging and rotate them. I guess a combination of crystals and jewelry would be the most efficient. But no need to cut down to gems it can go from crystal to jewelry.
For Patchy to spawn, you need to be at your home lot at around 12 noon onwards. They usually spawn at that time and will leave automatically around 5pm. So, try not to go anywhere else if you want him to show up. And no, he doesn't spawn at night time. Also, another tip: Always remember to use the "Ask for gardening tip" on Patchy when he's in object mode. It will boost up your gardening skill by a lot!
Also, searching Patchy’s pockets sometimes gives you the seeds for the Plant Sim tree.
And you need to befriend him (the 'object' Patchy) with one of residents to spawn

The mermaid does robotics-wants a robot child The vampire (vladdy daddy)-does fine wines to bring back “the fine vintages of his youth that no longer exist” The spellcaster-makes magical gem items for fun and profit The sim-science and gardening Servo-becomes an artist/writer invested in understanding humanity Werewolf-is the reserves cook, body guard(due to territorial tendencies) and hunter gatherer (LOVES the sims garden) The ghost-a prankster and party animal who invites the NPC’s over at odd hours to celebrate The alien-is insistent on dating EVERYONE in the household because it believes in the “free love” of the 60’s (which is the time period when humans first attempted to make contact with aliens) and repairs everything Just overall, a very large, very chaotic household ❤

Yes I totally came here to say that, while he's working she can practice magic in the gym.
Sure, but that takes a lot longer, and I’m actually using all that time for them to make potions. So just jumping to the realm to ask for a spell, look in the store and search for tomes ended up being a better way to go
@@JamesTurnerYT I don't see how practicing in the lot is more time consuming than going do the magical realm. When everybody is doing their tasks, put her to practice pratical magic, a lot of it, and eventually she will learn copypasto, and you don't need to leave with everybody and make everybody stop what they could be doing (nectar, gardening and robotics) just to maybe get lucky and learn the spell.
@@fewaldow Spending 1 hour in the magic realm every day is a lot quicker than practicing magic and not being able to make the needs potions. There's a lot of editing in this series to skip time and boring stuff - but that quick trip once a day was far easier and less intrusive to the flow of what I was doing personally

It's a pretty valid thought, and you definitely knows much more than me to make the decision of the kick trips to the magic world. Great series!
With the bills I would suggest using everyone in the households sim satifaction points to get the frugal trait. It reduces your bills. It's about 2000 points each, I think. I always get that in a massive house 🏠 or an apartment with multiple sims (before for rent/residential rental).
Please have an alien baby so that you’re forced to travel everywhere with an infant/toddler 😂
The lights turn off because you’re a haunted house. Snodgrass can practice magic by clicking on herself to gain spells.
Yah, Haunted Houses turn on auto lights repeatedly. It will keep getting set until you're not a Haunted House anymore.

I love how this challenge gives us a mix of building and gameplay content so often. It’s really fun to watch the house keep evolving almost every episode.

Weeding plants is actually very bugged atm. My sim has a big greenhouse and it’s overgrown with weeds because he can’t remove it
Yeah I had to make my gardening sim a spellcaster just so I could use the florial spell (or whatever its called) on them! 😂

It's awful when something is out of season, covered in bugs and weeds, and my sim can't do anything about it because even cheating it weed and bug free just reverts back to being infested. The said they even fixed it, too 😕

Some tips *Edited to add some more 1. Have Ms Snodgrass practice Practical Magic. She will learn spells on her own 2. Focused mood is best for most of the skills you need: robotics, gardening, medium, archaeology, gemology. You can get a good focused moodlet by vacuuming for a while too. 3. Keep Vlad in his babysitter outfit as much as possible because I love it 4. Have Semaj ask Patchy for gardening tips everyday, it raises the skill super fast 5. Have everyone in the house check Patchy’s pockets for seeds every day. He can drop magic beans as well as super expensive plants which you can use to grow to pay your exorbitant bills 6. Patchy comes to life around noon if you are on your lot. He will not stay until night time. 7. Have Vlad learn archaeology. He needs something to work on anyway. Get him going on a book. 8. Get your alien to learn Gemology. Aliens have the power to transmute metals and crystals. It changes them to a different metal or crystal. You can use this to get rid of duplicate or unnecessary crystals. 9. I know you don’t need it anymore, but Wolfsbane grows in Moonwood Mill. You’ve got some right across the dirt road in front of your lot. 10. Start collecting Moon Petals as soon as you can. You need 3 to make Moon Petal Nectar when you get your werewolf. (BTW, I vote for Lily Zhu. I love her.) *11. Sapphire decreases burn out on mental activities, and sims gain mental skills faster. *12. Make matching jewelry for all your Sims to wear *13. See if Nalani can get the ice proof trait. Mermaids gonna mermaid *14. Make an alien crash site for the alien room and decorate it with Batuu items *15. If Semaj gets the chemistry table and does Experiment it will a. Raise his Logic skill and b. Give him free robot upgrade parts

Plumbite is more useful in jewelry than is crystal form. If you make a piece of jewelry with plumbite for each sim you won’t have to worry about needs asmlomg as they are wearing them. I did this for my sim and she can just grind skills all day it’s super useful
Yeah but if you cut it, it will affect every one in the household at the same time. My entire household stayed up all night for the two days it’s active. Though I do see you point, if it’s in jewelry, you can travel around all day and be fine.

I think his intent IS to cut them into jewelry for each household member. He only copied as crystal’s because his gemologist skill is low right now & he could flub the cuts and lose the rare crystals. He’ll probably copy them again once he makes a successful cut gem or after he makes a good quality jewelry item with one.

Semaj should have an anti-burnout bracelet or something. Also, working out and sleeping is pretty good for reducing mental fog and burnout.
i'm loving the 1 hour eps for this series! really appreciate the time spent filming it, especially when you have to do some of the repetitive tasks.
I think selling the special necter for the different occults would be a great way to pay the bills. It gives the occults that aren't working on a special goal something to do. Still challenging but not that time consuming.
A mermaid becoming a robotic genius, Vlad in dark form wearing a backwards cap, and an apple tree growing in a vampire's dark lair. I love every part of this chaotic mess. Every episode makes me laugh!
Making friendship bracelets is an absolute Handiness hack. I use it all the time, make a bunch in a row (since they are free) and watch your skill climb. Just destroy them when you're done. Boom, Handiness!
I don't think that it's fair that Semaj has to pay all the bills. They are roommates. They should be splitting the bills between them. lol
What you could do for Vlads organ room: Put a door onto it, but lock it for everyone (the faux bookcase doors would work well for this). Technically it's accessible, but no one else will come in!

^ this. I've been playing in a haunted house recently, and noticed the same thing. Not in any of my other saves though. So yeah, it's not a mod issue, it's a haunted house thing.
I think you're having our newest Gardening Glitch. If your plants are sheltered, and it's out of season, you cannot weed them. It gets annoying if you hire a gardener, they'll waste all the day on the one plant, then charge you a lot of money for standing around doing nothing valuable.

You don’t have to go to the magic realm to get the spells. Your spellcaster can just practice on their own (in the background while your other sims do other stuff) and they will find spells. It goes a bit quicker if you activate their familiar (It looks like she has one in her inventory).
The alien dish works for me. My Sims get abducted and have at least half a chance of being pregnant with a full-blooded alien. Always good for a laugh.
James forgetting how the occults work (vlad's vampiric slumber,the spellcaster can learn spells on her own) makes this 100x funnier. this is why i love his videos lmaoo
The alien's house should be a crash landed spaceship! It could be in the side of the buidling or half buried in the ground.
Bailey Snodgrass could also just practice practical spells and just learn spells that way. James, you can also just turn off the day off from work on each holiday if you edit the holiday. Love watching this series!

You could just have her practice spells everywhere you go. I once had a married couple become master spellcasters without once setting foot in the magic realm.
I really like the idea of Vlad, babysitting, exchanging friendship bracelets, ordering pizza and feeding off the delivery person... what a lovely family. What could possibly go wrong?
The wizard's tower is giving me "Merlin's Tower from Disney's Sword in the Stone" vibes. Very precarious and I love it.
In case the situation ever arises again, instead of loading screens from constantly going to The Magic Realm, having the spellcaster Practice Magic also gives you a chance to unlock spells, and it'd be something for them to do while Semaj is doing his job or everyone is skillbuilding at home. Since Vlad made all those friendship bracelets, it'd be nice if he could befriend his household using Social Bunny.

For the alien room you should make a little observatory. Glass ceiling for viewing the night sky, pod bed, maybe a telescope and some alien plants for ambiance, a science table because the aliens love experimenting on sims etc

[28:57] I can hear it! I thought it was just the game... 😅 [36:16] Caleb, "Hey, man. I showed interest you in a while ago and you said no. Why are you coming around now - *while I'm at work*?" Having time to brood over it, he likely realized it was Semaj he was compatible with, but Semaj is married. Boo-hoo. [36:40] Yep... that is sort of the point of friendship bracelets... they are supposed to be exchanged by friends and not complete strangers who live in the same house. 🤪

The tower reminded me of Merlin's tower in the Sword in the Stone. I haven't seen it in ages but it brought me back to my childhood.
When Snodgrass gets more magic perk points, take the first one on the bottom of the potion making tree. It drastically speeds up potion making times.
When you can, you should start searching through Patchy’s pocket as soon as possible. I don’t know if you can find the plant sim seeds through that, but I remember you finding orchids on the first orchid day in Patchy’s pockets. So maybe it’s possible.
I think someone else mentioned that you can get plant Sim seeds that way. Might be rare occurrence, but not certain.
Good Lord i got so stressed watching him ignore all the cursed things that are making the sims terrified. Even more than he trying to make the spellcaster do the potions
I love the way the tower looks like a Jenga tower! It is a puzzle. why not make it look like it has a face and that way you can have your own version of Howl's Moving Castle. Can you see if you can add Guidry to the household? That way you can scratch off ghost with that, but if you want ghosts to come, add the lot trait spooky that way you can get random ghosts coming to the lot. Oh wait a minute, you can experiment with the cauldron, and practice practical magic to learn spells that way. As for the alien, it depends on whether your sim gives birth to one or not. If Semaj gives birth then you should have something attached to the house, such as a space-age nursery, but if not then I suggest something that floats in the sky like the witch's tower--a floating spaceship (or a room that looks like one with the decontamination chamber as the shower The sleeping pod as the bed, and you can surround it with a balcony to make it more space-ship like. If you really want to go all out build a house in shape of a rocket ship, or a wrecked UFO, and then again you can do what Lilsimsie did when she played an alien recently. I have several ideas, but I will let you figure it out. I don't like to toot my own horn but if you want more ideas you can check out my Gallery at Saltflower3. I did a wrecked UFO, a Pod, and a Moon-inspired lot--I'm no DrGluon
On burnout: One of the topaz gems prevents creative burnout and one of the blue gems prevents mental burnout and I’m pretty sure they reduce burnout if you already have it if that helps 😊
you could probably move the nectar making station down to the basement as well, keep Vlad's stuff together on one level lol
Laughing so hard at the contrast of james saying so sweetly to nalani : "oh you're scared of the doll, it's okay just get something to eat" and then camera switched back to bailey and immediately james yelling "why are you using nalani's bathroom?!!". Poor bailey getting all the heat this episode :D
I think my favorite part of this series so far is James having to take care of all the sims and them not doing what he asked them to and him saying “what are you doing?!” Also, Nehlani leaving her robotic station at work the one and only time she remembers to bring it- story of my life. And I’m always like “remind me why I took it again?” 😂 Also- one other thought. When Semaj gets burned out sleeping- I know I dream about work. So perhaps that’s the cause?
I would like to reiterate my vote that Semaj gets abducted and has an alien baby to add an alien to the household.

I think you can use repario on nectar bottles to make them excellent right away if you’re short on money. :)

Have you been talking to Patchy? I know you need to interact with him about a dozen times before he comes to life.
Fun fact: I'm playing while watching and left my game unpaused, and while Semaj was abducted my male sim TOO get abducted, I'm laughing for 10 minutes now, my male sim is pregnant with an alien baby
you can fix the holidays on the calendar to make it to where you still have to go to work. I'm not entirely sure if it still makes the sim go alone, but it does make it so work and school is still required.
Imagine not taking care of Snodgrass's *needs* forcing her to makes plentiful *needs* potions, and it backfires cause her *needs* were bad. AND poor gal got cursed. Gosh darn, James!
I think if I would do the challange I would combine it whith Deligracys tiny house challange. I would Build a tiny house themed for every occoult

To pay Vlad back, you should have Ms. Snodgrass go around and Burgliate some expensive items from some f the wealthiest families. A few 14,000 stoves and fridges should help. Also make sure you don't get your spellcaster the perk that makes her unable to get curses because you still need the Night Wraith.
Don' cut the gem this way, make jewelry and copy pasto it, they need to wear it, otherwise the gem only works in one area and they all need to be there to charge needs
He knows that. He was copying them in Crystal form because he only had one and his gemologist skill is still low, so he wanted extras before cutting, in case the cutting fails, so he didn’t lose his only rare crystal of that type. He might copy them again after cutting a gem successfully and again after creating successfully quality jewelry once, so all houseshold will have them to wear.
@@loraelstad8941 it's not about copying, read with understanding please. He did want to make a cut form which only works in the area it's placed in. When he travels with occults, he ideally wants everyone to have charged jewelry, so they can move around and do their things.
@@epaor I thought I understood that you were telling him to use the charged jewelry on everyone. I believe that’s his plan. However, I don’t have the pack & when I wrote it, I was unaware that you didn’t have to cut crystals into gems first, before using them to make jewelry. I just remembered him mentioning why he was copying them before cutting, so mentioned it. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I don’t think they do because the can’t be added to household, only visit the lot.
@@loraelstad8941 he has a challenge to have 8 occult Sims in his household and for any additional occult Sims to visit his lot e.g. sad clown. They cannot be added but they can visit, he had other ghosts visit so i think he may have just forgotten about them
@@grandpakyle7279 Oh! I didn’t realize ghosts were also in the visit part of the challenge. I only saw them in the household part.
James, there is still a gardening glitch in the game the work around is mulched in gardening setting as the weeds loop will keep happening if you put weed free, this sorta stops it for a bit.
This is my favorite series in a while (: its a good mix of challenge and not just grinding money the whole time which sometimes occurs with some of these challenges. Youve done a great job of showing off the things in the game and doing fun builds
Oh, If I can suggest one other thing, how about copy pasto some of the jewelry that your sim finishes so they can sell them on the selling table for a 300 % mark up of course. Your sim won't have money troubles after that.
if you want to reduce the household bills get the "frugal" trait from the reward store (2000 points) as it reduces bills by 25% it also stacks so geting it for all the household would help

My sim got alien pregnant after two abductions and quite a lot of contacting aliens. The satelite dish does work for pregnancies. Every alien contact makes the abduction more likely. He's in his third trimester and it's winterfest, so I'm hoping for a very special present today! My ghost, vampire and spellcaster will all be helping to raise the little kid. One big (weird) happy family!

There's a bug right now with weeding plants. Some just don't get weeded and you have to cheat them. Also had a bit of the old perpetual repair glitch, which I noticed going on a bit in one of your recent videos too, so that's fun. XD

A wizard would definitely have a potted plant on that weird corner space by the ladder. You can make perfect plants with floralorial... take cuttings till it dies, floralorial it alive, it should be ready to evolve. Rinse and repeat. Try it first on a disposable plant in case they have patched it out. LOL

This is quickly becoming my favorite series of all time.
I say Vladdy Daddy can pony up for bills BUT if you want to buy stuff for the house, food for cooking, etc Semaj has to figure out the money for that. Plus like other people have said, you NEED to get the frugal trait on as many sims as you can. Bills for this challenge are going to be insane with how each occult is getting their own tailored space, and if you're constantly trying to grind money it's going to take even longer/be less enjoyable for you.
