I'm going through a G class love phase, and I've been watching several videos of this car for hours now, but this seems to be the only video that truly explains how it's like to live with the G class. Everyone considering a G class should watch this review.

This is not really how it is. It's an exaggeration of it to say the least. Doors are fine, room is great, any car drives like crap on UK back roads. The G63 is great here in Europe. Can you get your trousers dirty on the running boards? Yes, but only if you are dumb enough not to use them. They are side steps, and if you use them, you don't get your trousers dirty.

Aero does not count that much in acceleration. It gets about the same 0-100 km/h as the 80s Porsche 911 Turbo... but it top speed wise, it's much much slower. Like 80 km/h slower. Because it's a brick.

You measure against Zero which doesn't give you an natural linear impression of the actual consumption and doesn't leave space for higher gas consumption. Thus ending in 0. digit numbers in worst cases. Let's say 4mpg vs 5mpg. Sounds not like a big difference. In l/100km I can see right away that makes 10 Liter difference for the same distance. And that's what I want to know how much gas I consume and therefore how much money I have to spend. Because I tank Liters not Kilometers at the gas station. No conversion or complicated calculation required. But in the end it is about what you want to emphasize. How far I will come or how much it costs. As a German I want to know what it costs.

People are mistaken comparing it with other suvs. Yes its heavy, its impractical, its big, its a fridge on wheels, useless offroader that is never going to see dirt, too sturdy to be a luxury suv. But a G class is a G class, it doesnt have a competitor, nothing comes close to it. This vehicle doesnt make sense and never will, and thats exactly why its great, because it doesnt have to. Its a one big fuck you to everyone cuz nothing beats the boss feel of owning this monster.

I would've liked the previous model body and the new one interior so this car would've been perfect! Getting into the seats really aint no problem tbh. It looks comfy enough. Also the lock sounds are just a beautiful touch. I wouldn't want that feature to be removed in the future.
It's easy. You put one foot on the side step, and then you grab the steering wheel and hey presto, you're in. In the passenger side, just grab the dash mounted handle.

@@Ziolyx yep, spoke waaaaaay too soon. I placed an order for one in early 2021 and was on the waitlist until August of this year when I withdrew my order. Was willing to pay $$50,000 over sticker and then they raised the MSRP this year by $20,000. Noped out of that real quick.

I finally got my call for my allocation in January. Car is going $50,000 over sticker for orders and $100,000 over sticker for vehicles on the lot.

I absolutely love the box design.
The only complaint I have is so small it doesn’t really matter. But I’ve noticed this in a lot of newer cars. The cup holders are right in front of the dash so it blocks some controls when you put it in the cup holder.

The guttering on the back WON"T fill up with water when it rains and drip down your neck (as you seem to think). Why? Noticed the guttering in the back is elevated compared to the side? That's why in won't fill up and instead flow down either side to the lower lever. Just sayin. ;-)

Love how the design philosophy is kept old fashioned yet too modern looking. The design philosophy will stand the test of time against other cars. Not a Tonka truck like the wrangler, bronco and FJ cruiser. And the fact that it sits over a truck frame with at least a rear solid axle makes it unique. Call it a tuna can and what not, it will always be the best looking SUV for this decade.
