Who’s ready for an almighty 🇬🇧 vs 🇩🇪 vs 🇺🇸 drag race?!
We’ve got Mat in the all-new Land Rover Defender V8, and he’s going up against an AMG G63, a BMW X7 M50, and a Jeep Wrangler V8!
So let’s see how these almighty SUVs compare. Starting with the Defender, it’s powered by a 5-litre supercharged V8 that can put down 525hp & 625Nm of torque. It’s pretty heavy though, weighing in at 2,470kg.
However, it’s still lighter than the G63 alongside it, which tips the scales at 2,550kg! However, it’s also equipped with more power, with its 4-litre twin-turbo V8 able to produce 525hp & 850Nm!
As for the Wrangler, well it’s powered by an awesome 6.4-litre V8, but it’s the least powerful car here, putting down just 470hp & 637Nm.
The question is, can these three off-roaders be beaten by the X7 M50?! After all, it’s not exactly a slouch, with its 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 being good for 530hp & 750Nm!

That X7 is a heck lot of car for the price you pay. It is an all-rounder. It wins the drag race, wins the rolling race and even stops at the least distance. On top of that it is practical, and fast as hell. It keeps gaining and gaining as compared to the Merc. And the best part is that it has got launch control.

The proper opponent for the X7 was the GLE63S or the GLS63S. The G class is a brick and loses by aerodynamics - but has definitely the highest wow factor.

The difference in drag co-efficiency plays just a small part in separating the acceleration rates between the X7 M50i and the AMG G-wagon, unless the speed is way above 100 km/h - the 47 hp (and 100 Nm) power difference between the two should even out the effect of difference in air resistance quite handily up to near 130 km/h (an estimate). Both of the previously mentioned cars have quite a big (and ~comparable) projected frontal area. The difference might be a result of how honest each manufacturer is in their stated power figures and in the differences in powertrain (+ suspension and launch control in a race from standstill)
Watching this at 2 AM, the striking fact that one will probably never be able to own any of these cars throughout one's lifetime is almost enough to make one contemplate ending it all.

Matt, ''hemi'' is the shape of the combustion chamber, it uses flat top pistons like almost all car engines as it was found many years ago that domed pistons were prone to cause knock.
The new Hemi isn't a hemi. The combustion chambers aren't dome shaped and the valve placement also aren't placed as in a true Hemi design. Chrysler owns the name " Hemi " and named this new wedge design a hemi. And a doamed piston in any combustion chamber style will raise the combustion ratio which will cause detonation.

Watching this, I realise I am going to have to buy a G some day. I'm obsessed by that bit of machinery - it is so capable. The nice thing is, the most challenging thing they are used for between Kensington and Guildford is parking on the school field, so are probably clean to buy second hand.

Yep. There's the dilemma with the 392. It hits its speed limiter so fast you hardly have time to take it all in. I'm sure there's programmers that can remove that limit, but it's there for good reason. 135MPH in a Jeep would be near suicidal. It's much better suited to gravedigging and zigzagging in sand and dirt.
@@robsolf Bro, I have the 2-Door rubicon with the 2.0Turbo (272bhp), you reach the top speed (159kmh) in no time. But after 130-140 kmh, it gets quite scary not gonna lie haha! But still, it gives me the best driving experience out of any car, be it sports car SUV you name it!
Yeah the jeep is doing pretty impressive being a N/A and other cars being boosted, i think it did a lot better. Would have been cooler if they put trx in there because it has a boosted v8 too and to even out the power it is heavier so it would have made sense.

The jeep is the only one equipped for off road, the other 2 has the capability but they obviously have big rims on street tires. The jeep is limited to 99 mph because its dangerous above that speed for the body structure of it.
It's also the only car with solid axles and na engine which definitely hurts it in this race lol.

What? Wrangler is the best Offroad? Is this a joke? Since there were quite a few Offroad battles and they all turned out the same, the Wrangler probably won't be the best in the world if it never got as far off-road as the G klasse... Offroad tires didn't help the Wrangler - the G klasse had ordinary low-profile M+S. I'm from Central Europe and I've seen several Offroad Battles live. But that was in 2019 It was a terrible shame - of course someone said to themselves - coincidence - mistake .... So another Wrangler wanted to save it - ended up there like the predecessor... When 10 out of 10 Wranglers finished in the same place during the week - no one to race he didn't want anymore. But then I saw some tests from different countries. Do the videos always have to be on YT? Have you ever seen Offroad battle Jeep vs G class? Carwow also tested Wrangler, G class - which is best OFF-ROAD. There were more tests - 2-3 years ago. In one test, Carwow was afraid of damaging the G klass :) so the G klass didn't get any points :) but he had a lead and won anyway.

The only surprise is that the BMW didn't make a bigger gap. G Wagon is a damn box, no matter what engine it packs, it is absolutely not made for drag racing, so it's impressive it did that well.

To say the X7 is not a serious off-road vehicle is incorrect. Take one out one day and see what it can do. I guarantee it can do anything 95% of people who could swing the cost of one of these vehicles could need. I have taken the X3 and X5 through off-road courses, and they are very impressive.
Just typing in from the American desert here...where people really and truly go "jeeping" with Jeeps...the difference between the X7 and the Jeep off-road is much MUCH greater than their differences on-road...you'd just aw well have an M5 as that X7 on a real Jeep trail...
@JS right - and how many people in America really go on "real Jeep trails"? I know a bunch of people who have spent a ton of money putting accessories on their Jeeps, and we live in Florida, where the highest point is barely 200 feet above sea level. I am not saying the X is better, or even close off-road than a Jeep -that would be stupid. But most people would never come close to the limits of an X in their life, and having ridden in many Jeeps, I'll take the comfort of my X5 over any Jeep, any day.

@@sunjidasultana4648 The Wrangler is limited to 112MPH because of its 37 inch tires. If you took off it’s limiter and put smaller tires on it you could probably get it to 150MPH.

I agree and not round that track in Nottingham I think it is They should take them all somewhere similar to the land rover experience place and really put them through there paces I’ve commented on this before as each video is the same just different cars It’d be nice to see different scenery in the off-road tests for sure! 👍👍😁

Not the same category between an x7 and a g63, but anyway, merc fans still there 🖤🖤 As you ve explained in the video, just have a look at to what extent is the g63 higher than the bmw. On the one hand we have a real SUV 4x4 while on the other hand we just have a big m7

After driving the 392 wrangler for a whole year, i can say that this car is capped off WAY too much by Jeep. Theres no sport mode, the limiter is set at 100 and the paddle shifts are delayed so you have to hit it half a second before it red lines and hits a soft limiter. Its a tough car to drag honestly but once you know how to play with it, it blows your mind away. Multiple pulls with alfa romeo suvs, acura type rs or anything in its category and it managed to blow people away with its power
