Will the M4 come without the unpatchable security issue that the other M chip have? That one about cryptography keys that can be stolen called Gofetch
There's always going to be some security vulnerability with chips. There've been umpteen security issues plaguing Intel chips over the years. the GoFetch exploit has never been used in the wild and was found by researchers who informed Apple about the issue. It primarily impacts the M1 and M2 chips while the M3 has a way around it if need be. With Apple aware of it, it's likely to implement changes to correct it with the M4, though we obviously won't know until it's released.
I have a dock with dual TB connection, dual hdmi, sdcard, 2x usba, nic. in the size of an iPhone 15 Pro Max... love that thing since its small.

M4 Ultra could be a striped down version of the M4 Extreme "hydra" given that he said it's for the Mac Pro.
Would like to see the M4 Ultra, M4 Extreme come out in Mac Studio, and Mac Pro respectively at WWDC with product delivered in the fall. If I was purchasing a Thunderbolt 4 hub today it would be the iVANKY FusionDock Max 1. Will see what they have when I replace my M1 MacBook Air somewhere around 2027.
Ivanky looks nice but at $439 after discount, it's a bit ridiculous.
Would love for Apple to use all of my personal information, photos, etc. stored locally, securely and on my local devices safely for better grounding of prompts sent to other AI models.

M4 will most likely have support for Thunderbolt 5! At least for the high-end versions. TB3 or TB4 support for the low-end. Also support for more RAM. Wonder if M4 Extreme will have support for ECC RAM...

I can see the Mac Studio getting updated this summer with M3 Max CPUs followed by an M4 update in late 2025. Right now, Apple desktop solutions need updating.
I was hoping for an upgrade to my Mac Studio Max, now I'm thinking about a desktop with an Nividia graphics card. . . Apple needs a new CEO, one that is awake, rather than woke. 8 GB of RAM for their new line is a bad joke on anyone who buys one.
so yesterday apple launched ipad pro with m4. ok. we may actually have m4 lineup available in june, given there is an apple wwdc on june 10th.
Just got an M3 Pro. Will be looking at M5 when they get to 1.5 or 2nm
Don't expect that speed, the current custom made 3nm is called N3, and the next 3 years steps are N3E, N3P and N3X, so the M5 will use the N3P end even M6 will based on 3nm.. (closer to zero width, every little step is required more time, you can't just reduce the wires width to basically zero so fast)
@@TamasKiss-yk4st according to reports from TSMC they are looking at a 2025 to 2027 launch roadmap. Apple insider reports the iPhone 17 pro most likely will have it. It's all rumors but the meaning of NM really stopped meaning something awhile ago.

This just killed the excitement for the new iPads for me. I’m not going to waste a fortune for a new iPad when it’s not going to fully support Apple’s new A.I. implementation in the M4.

Nope, M3/Pro/Max won't be replaced first, but probably last. First the ultra high end to create the biggest possible gap (mac pro w M4), and then, later, probably 2025, updating the rest of the mbp line, downwards w M4 chips. The way they are going to mitigate the risk of intercanibalizing is by creating sawteeth, creating shocks when releasing very powerful high end models, and then working down to the rest of the products for that same given generation.
small numbers like 3nm are not a 'marketing term', they are a continuation of an industrial convention, eventually turned industrial timetable and law, called MOORES LAW. Dies will shrink 70% every 2 years, double the transistors. So every node name eventually just held the naming scheme to remain consistent with the convention of always cutting the current level by a set ratio each generation
I don't want any AI in my computer. I just need a Mac Mini M2 Pro or Mac Studio M2 Max
Considering they are the only company that has hardware on chip for it it makes sense and given that they have complete control over the hardware platform focussing the AI software and tuning it for the neural engine is logical and consistent with their business strategy. They are never first but when they jump in the pool, they create a lot of splashe that get a lot of their competitors wet.

There's one big reason for Apple to release M4 Extreme already in June 2024: WWDC 2024 is much about AI and M4 will probably have a huge AI update... but we all can be wrong... 9-10 weeks or so left to June 10!
I think Apple is so focussed on where it is going that it has forgotten where it has been and the loyal fan-boys like me who are noticing a LOT of ‘little things’ that should not be happening. Apps like Pages can’t do vertical text, no matter what Apple says. And their Philippines customer service base is exceptionally poor with screen-sharing, basically it no longer works. And don’t get me started on bugs in Apple Watch and Maps …

I sure hope Gurman is wrong about the timeline for M4 Max and Ultra for Mac Studios. It would be a joke for Apple to continue to sell the obsolete M2 Max and Ultra-based Studios for another year. At the very least they should replace the M2 Studio Max with the M3 Studio Max, and deprecate the Ultra (until the M4 version is ready.)

The fact that Apple releases the higher end chips last baffles me... lead with your flagship not the also ran's... I want to buy a Mac Studio now, but not an M2.

The current MacPro is a joke, and they know it. Like the stupid trashcan in some ways, and like every first gen pro product Apple has made in the past two decades. Out there to claim the "Can't innovate my @$$ from Schiller, but piss-poorly supported enough to show they never really cared about it in the first place. Appe has spread itself so thin over the past decade that it is arguably where they were back in 97. Moments of brilliance, mired by minutia, politics, arrogance, omnipotence and ADHD thinking.

Apple products are overpriced! I can't wait for Snapdragon X Elite/Plus gives serious competition. Maybe they will start to listen to their customers.
Are they? The entry is high but other than that premium business machines also cost 3,4 or 5k. They are serviceable tho, which Apple prevents with blood. Planned obsolescence is Apple, not recycling or environment. That is more my problem than the price
