Tonka Toy Restoration - Toy Repair Tonka 1970
In this video I restored a vintage toy from 1970. This Tonka T6 Bulldozer was very rusty and some parts was replaced with new ones. Now it's perfectly restored and ready to be used in a new childhood. Because no discoveries have yet been made about the color codes used by tonka company, many of us,use 1023 ral. I hope you liked the whole restoration process, which I try to perfect daily. Tonka Toy Restoration - Toy Repair Tonka 1970

Tonka Toy Restoration - Toy Repair Tonka 1970
I have a vintage Tonka dump truck I would love to see in your hands for some much needed TLC. Awesome content!!!
How many runs did you get in your paint job? Just curious 😊
@@CoolAgainRestoration (Berber) Yes
I used one of these in the back yard where my father had built a huge, deep sandpit for my brothers and me. Thanks for the excellent memory!
👍🏻👍🏻 welcome
Tsty sent me here, I wasn’t disappointed. Throughly enjoyed. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Sam
Always great to see the old Tonka toys being given a new life. Great work as always…..love the watch too!!
3 years ago I sold the watch to buy tools and to build a new workshop 😊
For some reason, this is so relaxing to watch.
Thank you J M 👍🏻
Cool again indeed. Wonderful toy wonderfully brought back to life. Keep it up!
Thank you for this one mate. Took me back over 40 years when I was lucky enough to have a couple of Tonka toys, including a bulldozer just like this. New subscriber here, thx man.
Glad you liked it man and glad I bring you back nice memories 👍🏻🤩
This really brings me back. I had this and many other construction vehicles as a kid. I remember "making concrete" using rocks, sand and water in the mixer. Such great toys before plastic replaced steel and sharp edges with pointy corners.
Nice memories Rory
Great work. I'm coming from odd. One thing... Don't show the end result on the video image... It has to be the surprise at the end 😊
thank you very much nrette 👍🙏☘
I watched on mute because my wife was sleeping. I could still hear the sounds those levers make. Good memories. Nicely done.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for posting! 'Digging' up some 55 year old memories in me, awesome job!
In the 70's Tonka Toys were sold in the UK with the promise of indestructability.
Which of course means rusty, ruined toys by Tonka or Nylint can typically be restored to like-new condition!
I played with one of these 54 yrs. ago. I got one brand new for Christmas. Surprised to see the rubber track in decent shape.
Yes,I was surprising too. I think they was changed 🤷🏼♂️
My birthday is 2 days before Christmas. Hence I received 1 present for both. However it was Tonka metal toys. The large size. One a year. I received them up into early 40s of age. I took “2” only at once to play in the dirt. Wash them off,dry them, place them back for two different toys. A”few” natural light scratches from dirt that was rich, black soft garden dirt. So proud, as an Uncle my nephew(s) wanted them badly. I divided the Tonkas between them. Care written and explained instructions to kids and parents. Busy working long hours and years, I visited quite some time later. I found 1/2 buried, 1/2 rusted away. That day, a grown man cried for each Tonka he entrusted in love to nephews who never learned what love and care truly is. 40YRS later, tears still fall.
I had that toy when I was 4, in 74, it’s missing the backhoe part. Nice to see you breath new life into it
Yup I had one too and I thought it was missing the back also
Same here, around the same time. The bucket on mine was black, but I remember seeing others with yellow buckets like this.
Great memories guys 🤩
Tysytube sent me and I'm glad he did! Best regards from Brazil!
It would be really cool if you restored more toy cars! I really love seeing all the different kinds that came out in the past ::)
Thanks a lot , I will consider doing this 👍
Just as new! Awesome!
Thank you very much Eliana 😊
I used to have one of those Tonka bulldozers as a kid. Great memories, lovely rebuild.
Glad you liked it J 👍🏻
Tysy send me. Good job 👍🏻 Gonna watch the other videos 😄
Looks as good as the day it was sitting in the toy store, well done.
Thank you Denise 🤗
Very AWESOME Restoration !!! Brought back memories !!
In 1973 I got a whole construction company from my parents. It was the Complete Tonka set with hard hat. I was 3 yrs old. Then in 1978 I got this little jewel in the video. I remember playing with them and trying to keep the neighbors cats out of my sand box. I had those toys until I graduated high school then went into the military. I don't know what happened to them but I wish my boys had them because they were near indestructible. I miss building roads and hauling rock.
Nice memories 😊 thanks mate
My Tonka like this has an arm on his back lol an extra shovel thing🤣😋🥰🥰🥰
I just got one of these for my little nephew at a second hand shop a few weeks ago. I'd love to be able to do this for him but I'm sure he will enjoy it even with a little rust. Great work.
Thank you very much mate 😎👍🏻
Gotta say. It looks good. It is nice to see this community flourishing.

My brothers had metal Tonka Toy trucks when we were little. One was a bulldozer and one was a dump truck. My mother bought my son one of the last metal trucks made. They were good sturdy toys until they started making them out of plastic.
Finally .. someone that compares to My Mechianic .. Thank You
I played with something just like that when I was little! It was originally my dad’s but he gave it and a few others to my brother and I
Excellent work. Thanks so much for restoring this part of my childhood. Keep at it.
To be honest, that was my second video. Not a very good video but thanks that you enjoyed my friend 👍🏻

I had one of those with the backhoe (trenching bucket) looks like this one is missing it shame but still lovely resto I know this is three years after but better late than never still got to other old Tonka toys a excavator and a recovery truck love them too bits and I'm 39 now lol
the fact he still hearts commens till this day is incredible
I try my beat 😎😇
Best*
Not even a minute and you already replied-
I told you I try my best 😂
Jolly good show old chap and hello from the United Kingdom
Thanks mate 👍🏻cheers 🍻
I had one of these as a young kid in the mid to late 70s. Loved it, so thanks for the memories. I seem to remember the paint being gloss rather than matt - rose tinted memories? Anyways - an excellent job on the restoration. They wouldn't make them like that now - to be 'indestructible'. Companies nowadays want things to break after a set time, so that you 'have to' buy a replacement. Shame.
Yes,You have right. They no longer want indestructible things...crazy times
I have to disagree. I bought my son a genuine Tonka dump truck a few years ago and it's still the sturdy quality I remember groom the 90s. I expect him to have it for a very long time.
My childhood!!👍
👍🏻👍🏻
You're very talented sir....
Thanks man
Incredible work as usual. However, what doesn't get talked about enough is those amazing tattoos. Looking badass, bruv.
😇 thanks bro
@@CoolAgainRestoration anytime, fam

Thank you very much peni 👍🏻😎🍻
@@CoolAgainRestoration ok friend
When I was a kid in the 60s I had one quite a bit like it. I had lots of these Tonka toys from yard sales. I got careless and left them out in the sandbox and the kid down the block took most of them and put his name all over them and moved away a few days later oops. This one turned out great!
Thanks 👍🏻👍🏻
Anyone else play that free Tonka toy computer game from the cereal boxes? That was some good shit
True 😅🥰🥰
I love these videos. I'm your fan from Brazil🌹
Thank you very much Ninguém ! Parabens 🇧🇷
May want to consider taking off the rolex when working on this stuff.. looks very nice what model is it? Great vids too!!
Tkx Rick! The watch or tonka?
@@CoolAgainRestoration the watch lol
Yeah, I didn't notice the watch you was wearing until Rick said something. It does look like a Rolex or is it? Either way, you do good work!
Nice watch 😃
Thanks Jörn! I had to sell it to invest in the new workshop and new tools . Maybe one day I will buy new one
@@CoolAgainRestoration Yes, go for it whenever possible.
I used to have one of these!
Nice 😊
Just finished watching this video! One serious question were can i find replacement treads for my excavator on mine i only have one the other dry rot and fell apart!?
On that point I made thread with nut,but now, original parts you’ll find on ebay and I think is in USA a online store :gasolinealloy or something like that, they sell original parts for tonkas. Axle cap nut,decals,windshield..etc
@@CoolAgainRestoration Ok yes i have herd of it its called Gasoline Ally off of old route 66 i l8ve here in the United States Illinois! I have been some what successful making custom treads with runber guarden hose! Also used old Henglong remote control tank treads on my other duplicate! Lol awsome work!
I used to have the exact same toy from the same year. The black plastic slot on the back of it held a backhoe attachment that you could slide on and off.
Nice to hear that👍🏻
Can we talk about how well the toy looked before the restoration begun it barely lost any paint
I had this one with my dump truck and cement mixer
Awesome 👏
Factory fresh!
I have a lime/green one of these in great condition. Did these come with a trailer of some kind?
I don’t know because I didn’t had it when I was child 😬 if you have it , keep it safe because will be more valuable 👍
@@CoolAgainRestoration thanks for the speedy reply, great channel btw 👍
I’ve got the exact same Tonka bulldozer as that which I’ve owned since I was a kid in the seventies! It’s about the same slightly sad condition too. Guess what I’m doing this weekend? 👍😁
I guess you dont play with it 🤣
I would not be wearing my Rolex while doing this hands on work.
Why?
@@CoolAgainRestoration perhaps risk of damage, scuffing or getting it dirty.
Now this is a masterpiece, all your videos are amazing sir, what other KZhead Channels do you have so I can follow?🤔😁. This was very satisfying
I dont have others channels my friend. This channel consume all my time 😅
@@CoolAgainRestoration Oh ok, don't worry my dear friend😅😁.
Good I found this/and hello again! 😅 I found one of these in the trash - it is imho even older as the radiator ist made out of metal and it is a lime green one from Tonka Canada. The tracks are missing and I wanted to ask if you can give me a hint where to buy these? Thanks a bunch no matter what. Great job! 👍 Cheers from germany! ✌️
Hi Kai! You can buy that from Ebay,if you write: replacement part for tonka ladder, definitely you’ll find 👍🏻😎 danke schon
@@CoolAgainRestoration Thanks a bunch bro! Will go for it! I hope you are fine - stay safe! 😘😜👍
You too 👍🏻👍🏻
I recall having a big Tonka tow truck/wrecker. (red/white)
I used to have one of these, perhaps one a bit more recent thab thay, because mine had also an articulated shovel in the back, but other than that they are almost the same
👍🏻👍🏻 thanks for watching Will 🍀
How did the Rolex survive spray painting? I love your videos but was crying when I saw this.
