On the surface it looks like a terrible matchup for Conor but when you look into the details it begins to look a lot better for him. Khabib cuts a lot of weight for 155 so the weight ratio would be about the same against Usman at 170 and khabib is clearly the better wrestler. So if Conor can get up when against khabib I don’t see Usman holding him down. There’s also Conor’s left hand, Usman got rocked multiple times by Colby a guy that everyone else is going the distance against. If masvidal can ko till Conor can ko Usman.

Wesley Stewart that’s not a great argument dude . Usman is the biggest 170 pounder , even bigger than Woodley . So comparing his weight to Khabib is foolish . Khabib is the better , and get this correct - he’s a better pound-for pound grappler than usman , but not NEARLY as big and powerful . Usman’s wrestling will be magnified to an ungodly level against a natural 155 pounder like mcgregor . And comparing colby’s shots to masvidals shots is also foolish . Colby never dropped or hurt usman , he TAGGED him a few times with very good shots . Colby doesn’t have dynamite in his hands like masvidal does. Also , I would like to add , who has the better takedown defense , mcgregor or Woodley ? Woodley’s takedown defense was nearly flawless against real high level wrestlers until he fought usman . That shows you the level we’re talking here . Comparing Mcgregor to usman in a pound for pound sense is more appropriate. Matching the two against each other is a massive mistake , usmans simply too big and his attributes will be MAGNIFIED against a natural 155 pounder in mcgregor , who’s only competed at 170 against true lightweights

Dom Boy I didn’t say khabib is bigger than Usman I said the weight ratio between him and Usman 175-185 at welterweight is better than the weight ratio between him and khabib 165-175 at lightweight it’s simple math Usman was almost finished by Colby of all people in the third so he faked an eye poke The replay showed if anything Usman getting poked in the left eye and it sure did look like he got poked but Usman was complaining about and rubbing his right which means he was faking Conor could very well get taken down and smashed like against khabib but Usman couldn’t take more than a few left hands from Conor so Usman could very well be ko’d in the first two rounds just as easy Not saying Conor would win but it’s quite possible

I mean, Conor lost to Nate Diaz and almost tied with Nate on the rematch according to the points. Nate is an OK fighter but nothing special. Conor is mid tier now. You can’t fight like that and become champion anymore. I’m sorry. Khabib and Usman are much better than Aldo etc.

Evan G Actually the shortest MMA fights are the least convincing because they are usually caused by a degree of luck that is not consistent or reliable. Most top tier fighters are able to defend against many punches and kicks without suffering broken bones or bleeding noses. But in some rare situations a person like Conor will land a hit just right. The Aldo fight was another lucky one. But Conor didn’t come close to knocking Khabib down or hurting him even in the rounds when Khabib did less grappling. So it shows that Conor can’t depend on luck against the best fighters. And against Khabib, he did not dominate in striking.

Bebop your right but that stands for people of same weight most of the time. Conor was once 145 pounds and usman is barely making 170. The power and the wrestling and the size is too much. I’d agree with you in the case of a masvidal or Diaz fight or maybe even a woodley fight but it’s just not happening there. Even Conor said “ you’ve gotta have some attributes” and usman has every attribute that beats Conor.
