hi
@@woks hey!
@@scottykilmer Someone tried to Scam me using your name
It's LITERALLY A JAPANESE BUILT version of the American built Nissan rogue. Yes, it's a Nissan rogue in different clothes
It’s certainly hasn’t been a piece of cake, especially these last 3 years. Hang in there, and keep putting out those videos. 😰
As a salesman at Mitsubishi - Seeing you like the Outlander makes me even more confident selling it! 😀
Let us know if you see a bump in sales after this video.
yes because Scott is something else. He is the best out of 5 millions
Now i'm thinking about one the next 4 years
Hey could you tell me the mileage outlander phev gives? The official number says 26mpg and Scott here says 40…I am confused.
@@nikhil4utube Might be MPG vs MPGe so normal gas & diesel vehicles are rated as mile per gallon. Where as electric vehicles, CNG or propane & some Plug in hybrids are rated as miles per gallon of gasoline-equivalent. In theory the EPA uses the amount of electric energy that's equal to the energy in one gallon of gasoline.
Took me a while to understand Scotty. While other KZheadrs speak to car enthusiasts or about exotic cars, he speaks to the average person who uses a car as a transportation method, which is 90% of people, and that’s why he’s good.
imagine if Mitsubishi made a hybrid if they can do 40 miles a gallon with a regular gas engine the hybrid would be insane for gas milage it may be something crazy like 60 or 70 as a hybrid🤣

Hell has frozen over: Scotty has something nice to say about a Mitsubishi. Never thought I would see the day!
I rented one of these the other day. It has the smoothest steering and is so quiet that I thought it was turned off. It easily goes off-road.
Only Scotty can release a video called "What the Hell is This" with no other explanation or even punctuation and get almost quarter of a million views in less than a week. People just know it's good. Speaks to his honesty and breadth of knowledge. What a legend!
Agreed
I bought one from the dealer brand new back in 2014 when I didn't know any better. But my wife liked it so much, she ended up driving it to and from her workplace. By the time she accumulated 90,000 miles on it, she gave it back to me, and I kept driving it up to 145,000 miles until I traded it for a new vehicle. There was nothing wrong with it. I could have kept accumulating miles on it because all the maintenance was done at the dealer. I am treating the new vehicle the same way. I follow the required maintenance schedule from the dealer, and keep all the documents in a file.
Mitsubishi is really trying to put good products out there. Its great to see them make real progress!
Good products were designed decades ago. Now it is just charging for needless nonsense.
Yes, but they have been making bad cars for years & people don't forget.
Should bring back the goddamn Lancer Evo if they're gonna make good cars
Their parent company, Nissan who bought Mitsubishi Motors a few years ago is determined to nerf them so the Nissan product lineup looks better by comparison

I got tired of him constantly bitching about EVERYTHING.
I never really liked SUVs but was surprised as hell after driving this on vacation. It’s not obnoxiously big or hard to maneuver, was great on gas, and was fun to drive. I also liked that the model I drove didn’t use an electronic shifter or electronic e-brake. Used ones are actually pretty cheap, too. Hard to believe it doesn’t get more love, honestly.
It has a V6 option with 6 speed transmission.
Scotty, I love your energy and enthusiasm. You are a bright bright light in this murky world of corporate shenanigans and fakery.
You left out that have been kicked out of 100 plus countries in past history but we never got the memo.
I used to own a 2008 lancer for 9 years. The only problem I ever had with it was an exhaust leak and a dead battery after the first 7 years. Great car, and I used to drive it hard too
The same here ...I really loved my Lancer!
Why didn’t you just buy the Lancer Evolution instead?
@@applepoop10 probably because he needed a car to use daily. I wouldn't daily an Evo :/ too precious
@@applepoop10 when I got it, it was late 2007 and the new EVO didn’t exist yet plus it would be way more expensive. And it was a strange situation. I saw one, fell in love with the design and my car that I had literally dies that very day so I needed a car asap.
This one is actually a Nissan Rouge.
My wife drives a 2022 outlander SEL AWD. We paid sticker prices. HWY MPG is around 36 A lot of bang for your buck. My only complaint is the engine power. But for her it is fine. She has no complaints. The 20 inch wheels give it a tight ride but you can feel the bumps through the cabin. App doesn’t work great. Being made in Japan and the 100k warranty we decided to buy it. I’m a Lexus. Toyota. Mazda guy. But she likes it and it was a fair deal. Hopefully it last 🤞
Get that cvt serviced every 30,000 miles and you should be fine. The cvt is the weak spot.
At what speed can you get 36 mpg? Interstate for us and we’re lucky to get 30mpg. We are not heavy on the accelerator and avg about 24.5 overall. Disappointing but we still love it. Getting our new hood next week and praying the paint matches.
@@insidedadshead9691 my wife has about a 40 minute round trip to work. Basically all highway miles. Speed limit is 55 so she probably drives between 55/60. We just got back from a seven hr round trip and I drove and got 32 mpg averaging 70 mph. Remember if you sit in drive throughs… warm your car up… etc. that will kill your mpg average.
Mazda for life ❤

All the older outlanders had the bulletproof Mitsu developed 2.4 petrol engines (in my country anyway). Not fast or particularly efficient. But they could take serious abuse.
Thanks for this Scotty. My Lancer has one of those crappy CVT transmissions and I've already had the valve body replaced in it. I was actually looking at an Eclipse Cross or Outlander and this makes me feel better about possibly getting one of them for my next rig.

Haven’t looked at Mitsubishi in a long time, your review is interesting, gonna have to go by and check one out. @Anon Larson the new PHEV Outlander will be 100% Mitsubishi under the hood.
@@kylemas2005 uh oh
@@anonlarson2875 Are you saying that Mitsubishi is selling a Nissan product with Mitsubishi Emblems on it? Or Nissan Rogue body with Mitsubushi drive train?
@@fazilm1Nissan owns about 30% of Mitsubishi Motors, Mitsubishis are basically 30% a Nissan. That's why they've been bad in the last 10 years. Those damn CVTs.
I drive for a living in houston Texas so I see alot of different cars on highway every day and I've always wondered why Mitsubishi and Mazda are the least popular of the Japanese brands. It's very rare I ever see a Mitsubishi these days . When I was a kid the lancers and eclipse were everywhere
I could say with total confidence that mitsubishi is the most underrated car out there. Mazdas are gaining clients over Toyota and Honda but Mitsubishis aren't 🤷
Less dealership
It’s lack of dealership support. Houston has several Mitsubishi dealers but they are mainly always the most backwards. High pressure, second chance financing, 25 chain smoking, fast talking ex-cons all looking for a commission. Their lots maybe have a dozen Mitsubishi’s and 300 preowned vehicles. Until Mitsubishi cracks down on dealer network, a lot of people won’t go to them. No matter how much of a value they are.
@Harold Beauchamp 100% agree. It's not that Mitsu made bad cars, they just made bad business decisions. I remember in the 90s and early 2000s when Mitsu was going toe to toe with the big Japanese MFGs in the NA market. What's weird though is their overseas presence is huge. For example in Australia, Honda is pulling out and Mitsu is 2nd only to Toyota. Perception is reality it seems.
I drove one myself today, the phev 40th special edition at Peruzzi in Fairless Hills PA. Thank you Mitsubishi
Proud owner of the V6 2020 Outlander. I live in a place that gets loads of snow and it never failed me once in the snow over the years. Even with all season tires. Thanks for the great review Scotty
I recently got 2023 LE in Southern Ontario. How was the all season tire performance in snow? I really want to give it a try this winter!
@bhaumikpatel4077 I can't speak for the newer models since they're V4 with SVT transmission but, based on the reviews of those ones I'm pretty sure it'll perform splendidly well. As long as ur all seasons are only a few months old they will serve u well in the winter but since it's a new car for extra safety and extra precaution I would recommend u grab a nice pair of used winter tires for dirt cheap and slap them on just to give u better braking range and added stability and control. But their AWC system will definitely please you... I'll wait for ur report after the first snow storm :)
@@bhaumikpatel4077in case of southern Ontario just use the winter tire not because of snow but for the fact that we get a lot of road freeze which all season tires are bad dealing with

Im taking one out on a short drive tomorrow. Pretty sure im going to like it. I like the design Mitsubishi went with. This is definitely an honest to god solid effort. Must be, because I see this particular model all over the roads.
I drove one for several months. Can’t speak for its long term reliability, but it was nice.
Why did you end up getting rid of it?
I bought my 2022 Outlander 7 months ago for my business. It's been absolutely trouble free and I get a lot of positive comments about it from my customers
Our 22 Outlander has 17K miles on it and still runs like brand new. This is what’s good about Japanese cars they invested all their time in making the best automobile engines to compete with high end vehicles
No car channel keeps it more real and authentic than Scotty. He always says it how it is lol
I had a 2011 Outlander SE that I drove for 9 years, putting around 160k miles on it. Got close to 30mpg on long highway trips, which was great for that generation. Engine was never a problem. I also found it very comfortable, especially as a tall driver. My biggest issues were no local dealer (two had either stopped handling Mitsubishi or shutdown altogether) and ability to get parts. At the end, the cost of some of the suspension and exhaust items I needed were more than the car was worth. They had sold so few of them in the US from those years (< 10k/yr), that it was difficult to get parts when I needed them.
So if you had to do it again you would have bought the vehicle again?
@@kl1958 Tough call. The only reason I wouldn't have bought it, with the benefit of hindsight, would be the residual value and parts cost/supply. I was otherwise happy with it. That 9 years is the longest I have kept a single vehicle.

I've had a 2008 EVO Lancer GSR since new. After 250,000km, it needed a new clutch and a turbo. The turbo was still working but a check of the bearings showed that it was about due for replacement. These are both wear items IMO, so I was OK with that. The only thing that bothered me was the AYC pump, which had to be replaced 3 times. The third one was relocated from behind the rear differential to inside the trunk, and it never gave any problems after that. Mitsubishi should have replaced the first two under warrantee, but they didn't which is why I think that 10year/100k warrantee is completely fraudulent. Otherwise, the car is great and I still drive it today.
Same car and year over here.... have about 170,000km on the car. I've also had the pump replaced under warranty (1 time). Running e85 (flex fuel tune) and have taken it to multiple track days. Car has been rock solid so far (knock on wood). I have no complaints. We also have a 2015 outlander sport and 2015 mirage. No issues with any of them besides brake pads. Good cars in my opinion.
It’s my 2 end one I am so impressed the comfort is incredible so smooth I have to watch when I drive I saw hitting 130 klm before I realize that I was over the speed limit love this car
I love my Outlander 2014, but this new design is really great. Good job Mitsubishi!
I just bought a 2023 Outlander Black Edition and I absolutely love it! Its got the tech package with the all digital display, a bigger screen, and all black rims. It really makes the diamond white paint pop!
Does it have a sunroof?
Proud owner of a 2022 outlander myself. It's a great vehicle, has exceeded every expectation I had. Does NOT get 40 on the highway though. Most I've got is 35
It is rated at 31 hwy.
@@davidhoulden5791 yeah, idk where he got 40. Lol
I4 or V6? That would make the difference.
@@JodyBruchon they only make them 4 cylinder
I got Mitsubishi Triton 2019 top of line with all accessories…love that truck
Just got the outlander 2024 yesterday and it is AMAZING 😊
Had a 2018 outlander 4cyl with the cvt Was very reliable and easy to maintain. Yes the cvt is not a great transmission but servicing it every 30k will make it last Had 97,000 miles on it when we traded it in for a bigger car
Hi. I own a 2018 purchased it brand new with 16 miles i currently have it 44xxx miles. I do oil changes every 5k miles. What type of servicing did they do at 30k miles? Thank you for your time.
@@dean_carries5940 CVT fluid change every 30K is recommended for all CVT Mitsubishi vehicles including older ones that previously were every 60K.
I've had an Outlander Sport since 2014 with no major issues till this year (driven mostly in PA and the exhaust is now shot). While I consider Mitsubishi to be average, I will say they make great air conditioners. We've since moved to Texas and the AC keeps us quite chilly. I'm willing to buy another Mitsubishi based on my experience with the AC alone.
😅 well said. That’s why I bought one last year.
It's because Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Motor's sister company, has been making commercial HVAC for over 50 years. Mitsubishi reliability is severely underrated because their marketing department sucks.
Outlander sport is a different vehicle than the one in this video
@@dthorne4602 The point I was making is that Mitsubishi is worth buying for the air conditioner alone.
This! Had a 2010 mitsubishi galant- best AC ever!!!
Cool video Scott thank you I just got mine 2023 well for the wife to use and honestly planning on getting the same car for me when the time comes... Love it
Dude, I just did that. My wife got the SEL touring and I got the SEL black edition.
You my friend are a joy to watch, I trust you mover any one else! I'm torn between a used Cx-9 or the ... which would you choose?
I remember when Mitsubishi and Nissan had great cars. I hope they come back. I wouldn't buy one yet but hopefully they come back. On another note, I can't say why, but I absolutely love the front end styling on this. There is something fascinating to me about thr headlights.
Sadly from the research and what I found, Mitsubishi may never make a performance/sports car again endless it is probably a boring unreliable ev
The engine and the transmission on this Outlander is from Nissan. Ironically.
Agree with you about the front. It seems to be either you love it or hate it. I think the front is pretty cool…wonder why it’s so dividing for people.
@@TopG800 Supposedly, a new eclipse is currently in the design phase thanks to the remodeled Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi deal. So one of their sports cars might make a return at some point in the coming years.
The engines and trans are the same as what was in the Nissan Rogue before they went to the 1.3 turbo. The platform is shared, but they use different awd systems as well.
Thanks, Scotty. I like this car. Hearing your honest opinion helps a lot. Now I appreciate that car even more. There is an issue with the hood in the first version of this generation. I suppose they have corrected that in the 2023 model.
5:00 I always imagined Scott being a spotter and this just proved it lmao
I’ve had my 2023 Outlander for 6 months and love it. The CVT transmission is as smooth as silk, and Scotty’s right, the gas mileage is phenomenal.
Very affordable and underrated SUVs.
I'm very surprised about how good that car is. And a great deal also.
I love that Scotty Kilmer says how 90% of the where is on the annoying stop start of the engine. I didn’t notice and it’s good to know so for behavior as a driver it may be good just to put it in park or neutral instead of turn off the air again for your savings and idle etc.
I wanted to ask you scotty... nissan in japan...do they have issues with cvt transmissions like in the us? Im thing of importing a Nissan Elgrand 3.5V6 2017 model and it has a CVT...should i stay away and look for something else? Would appreciate your advice
I like it Scotty, it's very stylish. Can't beat the gas mileage for an SUV. 😎👌👍
