Battery was under the drivers seat in a well. My wallet fell to the floor and bounced into the well. Impossible to retrieve. Called dealership and was told they employed a contortionist mechanic capable of doing the deed. He did but shows how often some such bounce occurred. Worst so called luxury vehicle I ever owned.

One shuddered under acceleration like it was going to fall apart, another one made a horrible crunching noise and I forget what was wrong with the third one. Then I Googled Ford Focus transmission problems and found out about the inherently fault-prone dual clutch tranny. So I test drove a Mazda3 SP25, it was smooth and quiet and fun to drive. • I had an Audi A6 3.0T, and the reason I sold it was because the dealer's service team I'd used for 5 years fell away. I had 2 guys I got a long with, and always gave me a break on parts and maintenance. Got a few free oil changes. Always sung their praises. I drove across the country in that car without issue. It's a space ship. After a point though I got new people and it was clear the magic that was there was gone. They charged me 900 to fix a tail light, only to ask for another 2000 to fix the other part for the same issue. Fishing for service charges. Mechanically the Supercharged V6 was great. It went 0-60 in 5.2 and if I trailed on the highway I got 38 mpg one time, normally around 33mpg. It was a nice clean car the whole time I had it, and I would buy it again if I found a better service center. Germans have electrical issues, but that's not unique to audi, that's BMW, Audi, Porsche, Mercedes, KTM, all of them. People get audis and then don't service them, then they cry they don't work.

    @oliverallen5324@oliverallen5324Ай бұрын
    • Agreed most people do not do proper maintenance to German cars,,they run them into the ground and then just trade them in or sell them

      @kresstek@kresstekАй бұрын
    • @@kresstek No, German cars stop working on their own. You don't get to blame lack of maintenance on failing starters and tie rod bearings at less than 100k miles. They are no more reliable than American brands or kia. However, what's sad is kia actually has better reliability than BMW or VW. IF KIA cars weren't freaking death traps, I'd probably drive one if I couldn't get my hands on a Honda. BMW abandoned actual reliability 25+ years ago just like the American brands did.

It is there to shield the hood from the high heat of the engine which over time causes the paint on the hood to fail prematurely. • The Ford Powershift DCT was a dry design, where the clutches did not get bathed in oil. As they wore, the material had nowhere to go but gather at the bottom and on sections of the plates. This caused massive grabbing and slipping issues. This would happen as soon as 15k miles after the "repair" because it was just a bad design.

    @aussie2uGA@aussie2uGAАй бұрын
    • Yeah. Ford knew about the transmission issues before the Focus and Fiesta even went on sale to the public. Apparently, they had no transmission to replace the Powershift DCT, because it was specifically designed by Getrag to fit in the Focus/Fiesta (either that, or the Focus/Fiesta were designed with only enough space for the Powershift DCT).I suppose Ford thought they could fix the transmission issues somewhere down the road, via recalls. Or maybe they just thought, 'Screw the customers'. Anyway, none of the fixes Ford tried worked, because the Powershift is just an inherently bad design, like you said.

  • Volkswagen and Audi are supposed to be the same thing. But every audi ive ever seen was a total lemon. My mother still has her 2001 volkswagen beatle with the turbo. Its sitting at 230k miles last time I checked. She's yet to have any major issues.

    • Totally agree . our household has 2 VWs ( 2017 and 2019) models and with all maintenance up to date, run like champs at 130k and 70k respectively.

    • I've had 4 VWs throughout my life time. All ran extremely well and no major problems, however, I was religious when it came to maintenance and took them to the dealership. More expensive, but in the long run it kept them going. I suspect that most of the Audi horror stories are about used Audis where the previous customers did not want to dish out the money to keep them running properly. The repairs are indeed expensive, but necessary. If you are going to buy a luxury car, you have to prepare for the higher cost of maintenance. If you can't handle that, then go with a VW....but still keep up with the maintenance, it's just less costly. If you are going to buy a used luxury auto. Don't buy unless you have complete records for maintenance.

  • In VW Audi cars when the battery goes low in activates the immobilizer, get the battery fully charges then touch the neg and positive cables draining the capacitors then reinstall again.

  • Yep- 2012 VW GTI with a 2.0T, It was fun but when that timing chain started getting sloppy I took it in to VW to get the tensioner replaced under extended warranty. They said it sounded fine and turned me away. I RAN AWAY from that car before it could go kaboom!

  • I have a 2008 A4 ----- MANUAL Front Wheel Drive. Still have it. Burns no oil and gets 500+ miles per tankful. No problems, period. Yes, it's a PIA to change the oil (cartridge) but that's all.

    • Older Audi models are OK. Not too complex to maintain (and to repair). They drive good.

    • @@stefan2796 I also went with the least complex model. Less to go wrong.

  • Buy diesel Audi. 2.0tdi or 3.0tdi. Don’t buy little turbo engines.
